@ilovegod300 The defensive coordinator who succeeded Ryan in 1986 didn't run the 46 Defense. He played much more conservative: which helped keep down big plays on them by the average teams of the regular season, but left them vulnerable against the elite teams in the playoffs that the 46 was basically designed to terrorize. Ryan gambled, and often won; Tobin played it safe...and lost when it mattered.
Ditka had NOTHING to do with the defense. At all.
