@remix111able I think it's a combination of things. The Amazing iconic photograph and those amazing eyes(models work to get shots like that). The tragic reminder of lives being torn apart by war, and the mystery of not know her name or her particular story.

"The Afghan Girl" was around 13, when a National Geographic photographer saw her in a poor village. She had wolve eyes. The photographer quickly takes few shots b4 she disappears. Her photo goes on back of magazines & makes crazy money. No 1 knows who/where she is from. After 17 years, the same photographer thinks about finding her, to give her the money for her pics. He goes to middle east, searches countries till finally finds her. But now things have changed. He is shocked of wat he finds...

National Geographic set up a charity called the Afghan Girls Fund to help educate Afghan girls. In 2008 the fund set on a wider range to include boys and is now known as the Afghan Children's Fund. You were saying?
