  • thats awesome.. i met dave prowse in the early 80's and i just love star wars.. how much did this cost fair play mate

  • @davefilms345 Cheers mate. They cost around £1000

  • @davefilms345 Cheers mate. They cost around £1000

  • 40 year old virgin

  • @MightySheep25 You poor thing I'm sorry to hear that, there are websites you can try :)

  • which store from UK do you order your collectibles.

  • @Abrahamketto415 All of them lol

ebay, play, forbidden planet, Sideshow direct, secret Compass, the list goes on.

Whoever has the best deal really :)

  • Nice! Do you still have the autograph?

  • I met Dave Prowse as a child when I was first getting into star wars back in the 90s. I remember having no idea who he was but still getting his autograph based on what he told me about his involvement in the series.

  • when u turned the head around at close range it looked like a 3D program xD

  • You had to mention the lazy eye:-D Lol!

  • I wasn't born yet in 1977. I first disovered Star Wars: A New Hope on Sky Movies in 1994. I watched it everyday for a whole week then. This Vader bust is so awesome, reminds of ROTJ that last scene where he smiles at Luke just before dying :)

  • very detailed review, i appreciated that. thanks for sharing, greetings from Italy. Matteo

  • @kyatos77 Greetings from the UK :)

  • The gold is visible when the dome is on, bugs me.

  • Hello not saves all that goes out a clown's armor stroopers if already the saves warn me

  • The lazy eye matches the actor.

Lucas really fukt up (surprise!) in that the amount of burning Vader got in EP III (for example- no ears left), seems to have been magically healed by Ep VI.

  • The helmet's face was painted different colours because of the behaviour of film.

It they'd made it all black, the face would have had no features, would be a dark mess, on film.

I've got an ESB Lucas licensed full costume.

The inside of the helmet obviously doesn't have this detail but it does have the assymetry/deformed sculpt of the original ESB helmets.Does this?

They certainly dropped the ball on the lovely GREY cape here tho, huh?!

That said, this is pretty amazing over all.

  • You have some awesome videos sir, thank you :}

  • 4:38 darth derpy :P

  • A beautiful bust!! I always wondered why they didn't just use Dave Prouse for the unmasking...? Maybe I missed it, but does the face not fit under the mask?

  • @joeyvader Unfortunately the mask doesn't fit over the top, I have to store the head in the cupboard.

  • @RobotOnLine So it's not really 1:1 ;)

  • slightly.to.the.left is my email lmfao but really nice

  • I remember the scene in star wars where Luke finally sees his father's face when the helmet is taken off. It's an emotional moment. This bust looks pretty damn well like the real thing, impressive.

  • awesome!

  • hey robot, did you ever once think there should be a variant of this bust looking just like Anakin did after he came out of Mustafar?

  • That shit is gay! No fuckin' real lightsaber fucks up the whole set... Screw you modern technology...

  • @TheNewspaperBoi

If there was a lightsaber included, then it would have to be a whole body scale and it would cost at least a few thousand dollars. And they can't make a REAL lightsabers, if you're talking about replicas, then that's a whole different story

  • @anakinfan8 I was messing around. I KNOW Lightsabers don't exist (They probably never will.) And even if they did, The Military would probably be the only ones with it... Like you said just not cost a FEW thousand, more like a few trillion, due to it being a very fictional item.

  • your house is my wonderland.

  • how/where do you get all this stuff

  • @333loek You can buy direct from Sideshow's website or alternatively eBay

  • @RobotOnLine whats the site called

  • Great review. Too bad you have to take the head off when putting on the helmet.

  • very very nice,excellent detail

  • @21Blitz Thank you :D

  • yea i would of broke this stuff, trying to rig a way to put it on

  • Ugh... He doesn't looks a bit like anakin skywalker (Darth Vader Before Episode III)

  • Awesome!

  • Excellent review mate :)

  • Amazing piece... May the Force be with you my frienf :)

  • That is good! Is that the one the Forbidden Planet sell? There's alot of work went into making that.

  • @Mr77Magic Yes I had mine from FP

  • Never noticed the different colours on vaders Helmet/mask in the films, is that just the way theyve made this or do i need to go back to the dvd's and have another look? lol

  • Great review. Especially appreciated your reactions to viewing different aspects of the design.. Thank you

  • Comment removed

  • That is a magnificent piece. I always thought Vader was missing his left ear. So I looked back at the unmasking and they didn't really show his left side. Interesting. Nice review too. Thanks!

  • @Mutleytech They must have glue his ear back on :D

    Thanks

  • Darth Vader has Hypotropia

  • Hi, Does anyone have any sideshow Alien or Predator collectables that they wish to sell?

    if so let me know

email me what ones you have and we can negotiate a price

    my email is luke.curran@hotmail.co.uk

  • @darklordluke666 Sorry no

  • That is a stunning piece!! Thank you for the review.

  • I GOT A QUESTION HERE IM LEARNING STAR WARS BUT IS THAT A BREATHING SUIT TO KEEP HIM COOL AND HELP HIM STAY ALIVE CUZ HE HAD VERY BAD BURNS AND WITHOUT IT HE DIES?? AND DIDNT HE HAD A SCAR ON THE RIGHT EYE LIKE IN EP 3

  • Fantastic review - one of the best

  • Dude. That's creepy... you can pull Darth Vader's head off.

  • I've finally finished engineering the redesign of the bust stand. It's broken down into 12 pieces and ready for printing on a reprap or any other printer with an 8x8 inch build area. The files are free to download and print on your own printer. As soon as I get my printer working again I may be selling these on ebay. Go to thingiverse and search user sketchyj or darth vader bust stand

  • @sketchyj It's looking good Jason, can't wait to see the printed piece!

  • @RobotOnLine the uPrint plus at school has a clogged tip and the material is $145 a lb. My reprap needs a $90 extruder board and a heated bed but I pay only about $100 for 5 lbs of plastic. The starter on the bmw went out and I found out I have to pay $300 for a bonded title because the dmv said it was faded. Also I found out I have to switch schools now because I hit the fin. aid loan limit of $57k and now I have to apply as a professional student to get more funds. check didn't come

  • @sketchyj so now I'm struggling to pay my flex pays on the berserker bust but I think I still have it covered

  • vader bust is amazing..i want it..!!1

  • @davycrocketful You can't have it! :D

    Cheers

  • @RobotOnLine lol..

  • the wonky eye is not a mistake if you watch the film look closely vaders eyes are not straight the left eye is slightly out

  • @garrythomas2009 So I understand, a few have mentioned this, thanks.

  • Amazing bust! facial features are specktacular!

  • It really troubles me that you can't put the mask on over the head. I'm not sure why...it just troubles me.

  • @EGarrett01 Alcohol may ease your troubles :)

  • @EGarrett01

I think it's because the mask fits so close to face/head (in real life) that if they made it like this for the bust then the paint would scratch every time you took the mask off and put it on.

  • Comment removed

  • The eyes are supposed to be that way. Sebastian Shaw's eyes were naturally angled a bit apart! Fantastic looking replica though, and dude, you forgot to make hissing sounds when you took the helmet off...at least that's what I'd probably do every time I unmasked Vader!

  • @rafenwulf I'll practice the hissing sounds, thanks.

  • i thought he moved

  • never mind saw the rest of the vid lol

  • i wonder if you can put the head on with the full helmet please commet back

  • how much does something like this would run me?....

  • @vinamel97 $1200

  • Very impressive!

  • imagine before you go to bed having anakins helmet on then you wake up and you see anakins head instead and his eyes are staring at you....what would you do?

  • @waffle1997 Wet the bed

  • @waffle1997 what are you talking about? :/

  • That looks really nice but it looks like Anakin has gained some weight.

  • @SCAREDBANANA Yeah or someone is standing on his head :)

  • it's unbelievable

  • @lapicard666 Thank you :)

  • Finally got mine on display. However, I noticed that it doesn't have an edition number on the bottom like all of Sideshow's other pieces. I couldn't even find it on the boxes it came in. Does yours have one?

  • Woo hoo! Just scored one on ebay! And it's #98 :-D Can't wait to get it. Thanks for the great review!

  • @supermanbp09 Congrats! Hope you like it!

  • how much did sideshow pays you to do all this review??? hehe, i hope i cud get some money too for collecting statue! i just started last year & im spending TOO MUCH i wana stop but i cant!!!!!! i have alot now that i dont know wer to put!!!

  • @night25craawler Yes I've just checked out your collection, it's coming along nicely :)

  • Thanks for posting you thoughts on the Darth Vader Bust. I got this bust as well and I was disapointed that the Helmet and head could not be on at the same time. I modified mine so that I could put the head and helmet at all times. All I had to do is make modifications to the inside of the helmet itself with some sanding and then repainted it so it was not noticable. It was succesful and so now mine Vader can have the human head inside the black helmets. Love mine even more now!

  • @Madonnafanme Yes I know what you mean, it was annoying that we couldn't fit the face mask over the sculpt. Sounds like you have come up with a good solution. Perhaps we could see a video of your modification?

  • I went to my local comic store today and they had the darth vader bust on display. I took a close look , and thought it was the best detailed bust i had ever come across with. I am glad for you, that you have this at home. cheers, and i enjoyed this great review!

  • @NanookTheHusky I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Are you thinking of getting one?

  • awesome subed

  • @FIGUERinsider Cheers :)

  • I didn't know that darth vader had those silver stripes on the mask, thought it was all black, maybe it's more clear on the blu-ray that is coming out! Nice Bust!

  • @Brunofmx Yeah I'm looking forward to getting the blu-ray.

    Cheers

  • just awesome !!!! awesome!!! awesome!!!!! i mean it!!! great videos!!!!

  • @Brunofmx Hey thanks...sorry for the late response :)

  • HES MISSING THE SCARE ON HIS FACE

  • Thats really detailed.

  • nice review. if I were to get a 1:1 bust, this would be the one. It's a shame about having to remove the entire mask and then attach the anakin head separate cos it would be far better to be able to see the exposed back head when removing the helmet first, as seen in empire strikes back. Are these usually priced 1000k+?

  • @Fletch85uk Thanks Fletch. Forbidden Planet have it on offer for £799

  • I think It Would Be Cool If They Made It So You Can Put THe Head Peice In There Too And Woah Lol Thats What The Eyes Look Like

  • @RejectDotCom Yeah it would have been handy if the face-mask and helmet could fit over his head, oh well....

  • is a mask and helmet ?

  • Yep the colors were mirrored to help prevent against camera and light reflection during filming. However the episode 3 helmet was all black as the digital technology today is far superior to the spfx back then. Also the original trilogy helmet is not symmetrical, especiall the cheeks.

  • @michaelandymyers Thanks for the info :)

  • super !!!

I ordered mine last week and I should receive it in February

    ... I can not wait:)

    geert

    belgium

  • cheers mate from Kentucky, USA. Star Wars is my 1st conscience memory. That bust is awesome!

  • @gearsofwargamer1976 Greetings from Staffordshire UK :)

Yeah it's one of my early memories too. I saw the first movie in the cinema back in 1977...a long time ago...

  • WOW!!! what a great 1:1 and a great review!! Is this one of your favorite in the collection? Vader looks very elite!!!!

  • @jongonz913 Yes it is a favourite but I still love my Arnold Terminator bust!

  • Nice review and the detail on that is amazing

  • Hey one thing, I've seen many pictures of this bust, with his head turn towards the other side. Were those pics inverted, or can you actually move this guy's head? Cause I'm gonna get mine soon, but if you cant only leave him like in your review, he's not gonna look towards the center of the room. He's gonna be turning towards the wall. That'd suck.

  • @videoseaker They must have been inverted, the head doesn't move it's fixed.

  • I totally understand how you feel about the stand. Quite shitty indeed. But it should be easy to make a custom made stand, no?

  • Man I love your collection. I am a collector myself, but I can't afford life size busts like that. Your collection is out of this world. What do you do for a living??? Whatever it is i WAnt to do it too !! lol. Take care man !

  • @videoseaker I'm a secret Agent! ;-)

    Thanks

  • Thanks fo this; having a 4 year old something like that would last an hour tops lol and the hellreaiser stuff is not the sort of thing shed "appreciate" hehe

Nevertheless as an artist myself I do love amazing sculptures, cheers! the eyes are so realisitic and so are is the skin texture.

Maybe the actor who played Vader had a real life squint? That would account for why most sculptures seem to have a wandering eye :)

  • @Izziepalooza28 No 4 year olds aloud around my stuff...far too risky lol ;-)

A few people have said that the actor had a slightly lazy eye, I'm not sure how true that is though, could be just wishful thinking of a few collectors.

    Thanks

  • @RobotOnLine oh im not a collector Im just somone who appreciates art in all forms :) I envy anyone who can sculpt in 3D

  • I'm about to demonstrate the full power of this station

  • @sketchyj Go for it Jason!! ;-)

  • Reprap is a plastic printer that you can build yourself for under $1000. I am reverse engineering the model using Autocad Inventor software using dimensions taken from my own Vader bust. My base is actually a sleeker shape than the original if you look at them together, my model has sharper, more angular lines. You can buy a makerbot printer fully assembled on ebay for around $1500 but repraps have larger build sizes. Check out my build here:

    forums.reprap.org/read.php?4,56721,page=1

  • @sketchyj Looks very technical!! :-)

    Thanks for the link

  • OK I finally posted the base for the stand for this on thingiverse. I have the rest almost finished and will be uploading the models soon. My next step is to slice the files down so that I can print large parts like this in 3 sections and print the bust stand on my now working reprap 3D printer. I've been quoted between $950 and $1650 just to print the base alone. I can print the base with my reprap for less than $50 in materials now. thingiverse(dot)com/thing:4682

  • @sketchyj I'm guessing that a Reprap is somekind of 3D cutting tool?

Fascinating stuff, where did you get the scan from, was it from an original Darth stand or have you constructed it yourself?

  • Usually you'd think this'd all be a one piece thing, but it's very unusual that they would require you to take out Anakin's head out in order to put the face mask on, I wonder why that would be cause it would make a lot more sense if you opened the mask and there's Anakin. Also what what I find weird is the gold plating on the face mask, what's unusual is you can see it with the dome on, in the movie or any other Darth Vader figure the gold plating is completely hidden until you take off its do

  • @MegaProductions11 I agree it would have been nice if the head could have stayed in play but it seems that the internal components of the face mask take up too much space...oh well i will have to manage I suppose ;-)

  • Love watching this again & again Kev' great video, I see you changed your wallpaper with that cool looking shirt I like. But the Darth Vader 1:1 bust is great man, love it waiting for more new videos Kev' your the man bud' be talking with ya,.

  • @willosaurus1 Well I got bored with the old wallpaper and my usual software I use for creating new backgrounds is not working so I just threw up any old photo lol :-)

  • what the HECK????? removable vader head @ 6:42??? lol man WHERE do people get all that money to actually fricken afford all this EXPENSIVE Star wars things I don't even have??

  • Comment removed

  • Someone was selling a stand for this on ebay for close to $800. US. I need one as well but I've decided it would be cheaper to order a 3D printer kit from botmill and print my own knockoff stand. I've built a close copy of the stand in Inventor and I'll let you know when I have the completed build. I may try to offer these stands cheaply on ebay once I get a good build of it.

  • @sketchyj Sounds good, can't wait to see how it turns out, good luck

  • Since I got a refund from Sideshow because of the lazy eye I can say for sure it was not intentional.

  • @BaronBahamut I don't think we will ever know the truth why Sideshow did this, yes, it may have been accurate to the movie.

    Cheers

  • Wow!! It's like having Darth Vader himself in your own home!! :-) Great video, Kevin!!

  • @TuskenRaider190 Yes the force is strong with this bust.

    Cheers Quinn

  • me gusta lo malo que no se pueda dejar la cabeza de anakin y la mascara a la vez

  • love it but it is massive but how much did it cost

  • @yihye2 Too much!! :-)

  • phantastic piece kev, great review! 10/10

  • @ByStanWinston Thanks ;)

  • awesome, great video

  • @foxy150150 Thank you :-)

  • Wow, that is fantastic, great video

  • @SPEEDYFITZ Cheers Speedy

  • Great review this time again. The helmet stand should be included with that price.

It feels like the display possibilites aren't fair for that price if you have to choose the head or the helmet. Saw a comment on the E.T. statue. Did you get an answer which brand that was. My wife loved it. Saw that movie in younger age.

    Keep up the good work.

  • @peogames Thanks for the comments, and no, I don't think I did ever get an answer about that ET statue.

  • Good God, that's awesome. Great review.

  • @LeShark75 Thank you :-)

  • top notch review! looking forward to checking out the rest of your channel.

  • @rumrunner777 Cheers, glad you enjoyed it ;-)

  • iv given up buying from sideshow, there has always been something wrong with all the replicas i have got from them, the only exception being the wolf bio, but the bust paint was slppy to say the least!!!!

  • @aussiebowhunter01 I agree they aren't always perfect, my Iron Man was a big disappointment!

  • HI Kev what a fantastic piece it was worth the wait,i see what you mean about the eye.I was there1977 in the queue at the Gaumont cinema B,ham city centre oh memorys.Great review as always big thumbs up.

  • Thats a great review, you got a wicked collection, just started mine 1 year ago hope to have the vids up soon. I am also disappointed that the Darth Vader Helmet cannot go over his head, to spend over $1000 it should. What do you think is better the SideShow Bust or a Master Replicas Dual Signature Helmet? Both would cost the same and are of the same size but what is worth it more I cant decide?

  • @masterreplicasguy @masterreplicasguy I would expect the MR helmet to be more movie accurate but the Sideshow bust is obviously much better value as you get the complete thing.

    Thanks

  • @Swedencollector It's a tough choice but I too prefer him with the mask and helmet on. Yes, most of the head is air-brushed, probably to speed up production.

    Thanks ;-)

  • that's a great piece, he looks massive, it would have been better if they have given him shoulder pads too, cos right now his head looks way bigger than his body hehe

  • @toys210 Shoulder pads would have been nice but the more compact size makes it easier to display.

    Thanks

  • amazing bust , i think its worth it this is got to be one of the best in the star wars life size line but i do have to say the Gamorrean Guard is very good as well as this one

  • @jam11978 Yes I agree, the Gamorrean Guard is a great looking piece. I wish they would have put more of the chest and shoulders into it though.

    Cheers

  • hey kev thanks for the review very nice looking piece, he really is my favorite villian love that guy, when you said you remember seeing it with your dad, boy that made me feel old, LOL i was in 10 grade lol

  • @rrjrstatueman You're only as old as the toys you collect, and we have lots of them, so that makes us very young right lol

    Cheers Raf

  • great review kev i think this is one of the best detailed head bust ive seen a truly highly detailed bust that looks truly stunnung thanks for the upload and excellent review good luck in finding your new house to

  • @dendec I've packed all my stuff up now Den and taken it to my parents house.

We move out on the 9th of July but we don't move into the new place until the end of July.

  • Congrats on Vader bust. It is one of my favorite items in my collection next only to the Master Replicas AT-AT and eFX LE Stormtrooper helmet.

The chain is plastic because it seems they used plastic in movie as well so it is accurate. Also the gun metal and black alternation on the mask is movie accurate because back then it was impossible to look well on film if all black. Too bad about the lazy eye because 99% of them have it and the original proto and 1% of the busts don't have it.
