There are no creatures that doesn't have feelings, currently also no common rule about eating mammal meat in the world .
Although I'm living in Japan, I can eat just beef, pork, chiken that sold in market familiarly. because, they are cultivated without feelings, and then established cenotaphs certainly.

You do realize that 1000 of 500 000 is 0.2% right? the minke whale is NOT endangered, it is listed under the marine mammal protection act which keeps them from being hunted in large numbers. Are you defending the whale because you have some kind of sentimental attachment to them?

HOWEVER, I would like to ask ... how much Whale Meat was consumed 50-70 years ago, when it was not so easy to harpoon whale from huge motorized ships?
I think not nearly as much whale was consumed by the Japanese in those times - and hence a "balance" of nature was preserved.
OK go hunt whale in wooden boats like we did in New England - let's see how many you can catch and eat then.
Maybe a "fair fight," is better than a big lie about "research?"
