Vandal Savage changed the sun from yellow to red, changed Earth's orbit and because of that, everyone died. He had built a time machine to prevent his mistake, but he couldn't since he mustn't see his past self. So, since Superman was "already dead", Savage sent him to the past in orden to change the future and stop his plans. *spoiler*

He soon finds out that the entire world had been destroyed by Vandale Savage. He uses the machine he builds to come back to the present to stop both toymaker and Savage...

Nope. Superman doesn't come back to life. It simply turns out that he didn't actually die during this episode. The weapon that "disintegrated" him, teleported him to another place. And it took Superman some time to find his way back.

Btw.: I LOOOVED this episode! It's one of the best episodes in the whole series.
