  • maltese is easier if you learn it right without bent arms

  • @hidemysocks LoL. I just watched the video on your page and you have to right to comment on someone's strength move. Your routine sucks. No real strength moves at all.

  • @systemnate um, a maltese is worth a "D" my piked yami = "D" and I have a lay yami which = "E" you're right with my strength though, it does suck but i'm a swinger i also have a lay gazogi (spelling?) "E" or "D" (not sure) lets just say my routine NOW is worth a 16 point something the one you saw was from 2 years ago

and i wasn't bagging on you by the way i was just saying you'll get it alot faster if you learn it with strait arms than to learn it bent the have to go back an learn it strait

  • @hidemysocks A back up-rise or kip into a Maltese is worth an E. I don't even do gymnastics anymore. That was from like 2001or 2002 on the first day I ever did one. I actually re-learned a maltese with straight arms last year, but hurt my shoulder and back in the process. Sorry then, I thought you were bagging on me. All these comments are like bent arms. Suck etc. When I clearly stated in my comments that I know it is not very good.

  • @systemnate dude don't even worry about bad comments. it's the internet so people say stupid stuff more often then not. everyone who doesn't do gymnastics is in awe of what gymanstics people can do. true strength. true control of the body. i've been looking at different gymnastics vids for my crossfit movements and i'm just blown away by the strength

  • bent arms .

  • that's pretty bad ass man. If you can do an inverted cross, how should I go about working those?

  • @VarSorgen You can start with wrapping your feet around the cables and lowering into it and work to doing it with your feet just barely touching the cables inside the cable. Also working wide arm press to hands on floors are pretty good for developing it.

  • @systemnate awesome, thanks. I'm trying to make varsity next year and I just got a cross a few days ago so if I work rings like crazy in the off season I should be able to. thanks again!

  • @VarSorgen The biggest thing that you can do to set you apart on rings is to perfect your strength moves - especially the cross. You say Varsity, so I am assuming High-School gymnastics? If so the cross is especially important. Learn to do it as flawlessly as possible. Work on little to no false grip, no elbow bend, completely level. Work on kipping into a cross as well it is worth more (not sure what it is now...was a Developmental D when I was in high school). Good luck!

  • @systemnate alright good to know, thanks again! Yeah it's definitely high school gymnastics. We have one guy on our team doing a maltese but we also just lost a bunch of really good seniors, so I have to make sure I get good for next year. My cross right now kind of sucks but I also know the only way to work them is to do them and do cross reps so yeah, thanks again ^_^

  • @VarSorgen What state are you in? I was in Texas when I did high school gymnastics.

  • @systemnate I'm in Illinois

  • Nate, you the man! Miss you man! This is Wes Mathewson btw...

Hey I'm heading to Winter Cup Feb 2011 You should come!

  • Cool man. I graduated in 03 and was the state champ on rings that year...does Vesley still coach there? Permian has always been a good team..Abilene was a contender for a while until budget cuts forced Abilene and Cooper to combine and our coach moved.

  • wow Abilene. i live in odessa and im also in gymnastics for permian

  • keep your arms straight

  • nice move my friend keep it up:p

  • Thank ya. I started when I was 14 and was 17 in that video (22 now). I did a lot of strength conditioning that summer doing a lot of little drills for it and then one day I just did it and held it for like 5 seconds this was taken that day and was probably the 5th or 6th try in a row :-P.

  • wow good job man! good to hear! i'm 26 now but was like you...into it at the time and did quite a bit but stopped...now i'm looking for time in my schedule to get back into some of it....keep yourself fit and you won't have to be like me looking for time to gain the strength to be able to do it

  • Hey that was actually a pretty good maltese. Better than anyone on my team! About how long did it take you to reach that point where you could hold a maltese for that long?

  • thats pretty good what school/state do u do gymnastics

  • Thanks :-) This was done my junior year in high school in Abilene, TX at Cooper High School. I have a few other small skills posted.

  • all i have to say is "bent arms"
