It would have been beautiful if him and Nas would have collaborated together.Or better yet if those 2 and A.Z. would have been a trio.Smell me!!!!!! All 3 are very sharp wordsmiths. That's what I call a triple threat.
1994. OC, Biggie, Nas, Jeru, Organized Konfusion, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Common, Gravediggaz, Method Man, Warren G, Outkast.... Some I didn´t see here:
Dude OCeez intellect is unreal and so well spoken. You cant deny how fucking ridiculously real OC is on the rhyme schemes and capacity of his poetic ability.
@SickKnowledge82 yea definitely check out Canibus..he still spits too..his album "Lyrical Law" is going to be crazy..and his album with Keith Murray too
Smooth flow and lyrics that you can play back time and time again and take something from....How many tracks can do that nowadays? Mind you there weren't that many even back then....I wish major labels would back artists like this to get the music heard and promote real hip hop music and not 'rappers' who make whatever the labels feel sells at the time... & as for Times Up this has to be one for any true hip hop listener to have in their vinyl collection......
does anyone know were the singing is sampled from that starts at 4:11, is it from an old soul song? any help is very apreciated, buckwild is on point man for real
94 was the best year: Nas - Illmatic (1994) Jeru The Damaja - The Sun Rises In The East (1994) Organized Konfusion - Stress: The Extinction Agenda (1994) The Notorious BIG - Ready To Die (1994) Common Sense - Resurrection (1994) Grave digga - 6 feet deep (1994) Scarface - the diary (1994) O.C. - Word...Life (1994) Gang starr - hard to earn (1994) Methode man - Tical (1994) my favorite is Jeru's album at the moment
It was a great year for Rock too. Just a great fucking year for music come to think of it. Radiohead came out with the bends, Blur with Parklife, Jawbox with their Atlantic debut, Smashing Pumpkins with Siamese Dream. The list goes on. It was a great year to be an artists.
@LifeOfAnOutlaw Artifacts-Between a Rock and a Hard Place, Casual-Fear Itself, Extra Prolific-How It Should Be, Rappin' 4-Tay-Don't Fight the Feelin, Spice1-Amerikkka's Nightmare, UGK-Super Tight
This is their best collaboration. Can we say the best song in hip-hop history? I would say so. I've been repeating this one for years (as well as the entire album which I feel is the best album in hip-hop history) and it never becomes old. What defines a classic is it's ability to be timeless.
as long as the true hip hop heads stay true and listen to the roots hip hop will stay alive. I'm from London but I love Hip Hop.. it's true expression.

Couldn't agree with you any more.
I can't bring any single one ahead of another , ILLmatic would be the best propably , but Jeru's , Konfusion's and O.C.'s albums are all perfection .

Arguably the best producer in hip-hop: Buckwild
Arguably the best rapper in hip-hop: O.C.
This is their best collaboration. Can we say the best song in hip-hop history? I would say so. I've been repeating this one for years (as well as the entire album which I feel is the best album in hip-hop history) and it never becomes old. What defines a classic is it's ability to be timeless.

I'd say that O.C. is a top 10 MC , if not top 5.Buckwild is a top 5 producer most definitely.
But the greatest song in hip-hop history in my opinion would be T.R.O.Y.

Moment of Truth, Reflection Eternal, Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt are arguably each the greatest hip-hop albulm.. which is it?
