That would kill screamo though. The mainstream is about turning a profit, not about passion and honestly. Would you really want to see Comadre, La Quiete, L'Antietam, Envy .etc etc etc playing on super high rise stages, with huge separations from the crowd and tickets over 25 bucks a pop? No one wants that, or at least I sure hope not.

Besides, as is, screamo has nearly zero marketability. Keep it underground and don't change anything. It's perfect the way it is.

Ugh. When you throw European "screamo" bands into the mix etc, it gets so hard to continue lumping shit into the same weird little genre. I actually just refer to stuff like this as my ear rape crazy punk music. I digress though, Arrow is classic, as is June Paik. When you look at bands like La Quiete and Kaospilot, it is hard to believe that they supposedly share the same punk subgenre.

True, and I absolutely agree with you. I think that's what is so appealing to me about the sound of this music's past. It's so sporadic. Spontaneous. Though a lot of the bands were carbon copies of each other, many stood out as original and unique. I direct you to Unwound, Still Life, Cerberus Shoal, Driftwood. It's so funny to me that "emo" WAS just another euphemism for music that defied definition in it's diversity.

I can handle this type of 90's type emo, the emo now is just way too depicted like some pretty boy gay wailing shit now, totally misinterpreted, its really not emo. Although the so called screamo is getting out of hand now. Back in the early 90's I would have never labeled hardcore screamo. On a side note, it would be boring if I would have grouped all the early screamo bands/emo bands into the same few videos, I like diversity, besides it's interesting to hear the older stuff along side of the current bands.

Hate to say it but, real screamo doesn't sell in a mainstream market. The only screamo band currently with radio play (and I'm talking extremely limited play) is Touche Amore. Ask yourself though, would you want this style of music along with other products of punk to be in the mainstream? Probably not. I'm pretty sure at the end of the day you're like me in the sense that you just want people to stop confusing post hardcore with screamo and the ignorant mislabling.

@TheBlackRacist Saetia were an Indian Summer knockoff, I'm sorry to say. Even some of the chord progressions were exactly the same. Listen to "I think your train is leaving, looks like it left you...etc..." and then listen to Saetia and understand that I.S. was from 1992 and Saetia, as ever unoriginal as they could be, were from 1997 on, or whatever Wiki claims it to be...

However, Saetia does it right, if there were a formula to this stuff. Very tight rhythm, great guitar. Questionable lyrics.

their LP was only pressed once (it was a European pressing, but a few distros did carry here in the states) 200 were on an opaque Yellow marble color (they looked like the color versions of the Van Johnson Kaospilot split), and 300 were on black.

i'm pretty sure they had other releases besides the 6 song EP/LP (they had a Demo and possibly a 7") ...however all of these are completely out of print.

i have the mp3's from their LP message me for my msn screen name.
