  • No punching allowed? Or they just didn't want to punch each other

  • surprisingly disappointing end lol

  • paul herrera is a fuckin PUSSY

  • that was amazing. how he didnt use a single punch or kick. and ended it with a submission straight, full stop

  • Best pound for pound fighter of all time.

  • this is shooto not prowrestling

  • "wait wait wait wait wait wait AHHHH!!!"

  • Saku was the best MMA fighter of all time.

  • one of*, kthx.

  • @bosszeroboss AGREE

  • 3:01 HA HA got him with a kurt angle ankle lock

  • Because it is? This is Kazushi Sakuraba when he was still a pro wrestler. You do know he was a pro wrestler before he was an MMA fighter right? Dumb moron. Stop talking now before you make yourself look anymore retarded.

  • you dumb fuck

  • Yeah, the finish really gave it away for me. Who lets himself get caught like that? Anyway, Sakuraba is a legend.

  • Paul Herrera got owned by Big Daddy Goodridge in UFC 8

    that was a crazy fight!!

  • It looks very good, but there a points in the fight that let on that its predetermined. In times in that fight, Sakuraba could have went to full mount easily, plus an ankle lock that weak would never submit someone worth their salt, there was no leverage. But in saying that, well done on making the fight look real

  • Saku is a smart fighter he uses his brain not just muscles...

  • Sakuraba fights as if he is solving a human jigsaw puzzle XD

  • look what muscle proves?

  • what is this? shootfighting? I know MMA and muay thai bt could somebody plz explain the difference is between MMA and shoot fighting. thanks

  • Its a MMA without punching in the ground.

  • thanks, i found out a few weeks ago cos im entering a c class shooto fight soon :)

  • i think there is no punching ih the face while standing. Is like Kyokushin standing , and ADCC on the ground.

  • no, i think that rule is dependant on the event. the c class shooto fight im entering allows everything to the head besides elbows.

  • Oh... then. Go kick some ass dude !! >:D

  • thanks :) its going to be tough cos my ankle was crushed by a forklift 2 weeks ago, so i got alot of catching up. but its only c class, so its ok.

  • plus it's a work. i'm not saying that's bad, i'm just saying.

  • Was this for real? It looked a little fake.

  • It's back in Saku's professional wrestling days

  • taht was fucking hilarious!!! WAITWAITWAIT!! WAHAHAHHA

  • hahaha!!! I've never seen or heard that tactic before.

  • i actully like it when saku toys around with the opponenets like the gracie

  • Hot pink??! Must be the newest fashion statement these days.

  • fuk u

  • I retract that comment im a fucking idiot lol.... thats what I get for posting before watching. The pancrase style boots and the weird ring through me off.

  • Damn, wrestling.... Sakuraba is still fucking awesome.... you guys should watch his MMA fights he is a legend.

  • the best part is when that paul guy went "Wait, wait, wait!!" as soon Sakuraba was about give him an ankel lock. His buddy is like "Garb the Rope!!". Friggin hilarious. "Wait, wait, wait!!" if it had actually worked, like wait don't hit me yet! LMAO!

  • was this strictly like wrestling/jui jitsu.. like no hits.. no punchess i guess i don't understand ha.

  • Sakuraba was indeed a pro wrestler.Just because he's starting with Takada,he's not doing many fake fight.

  • One of the best MMA videos ever.

  • Oops sorry, wrong video (how embarrasing)

  • that paul dude never belonged in mma.

  • parecendo duas franguinhas....

  • Suckarubber rules!

  • WTF...

  • it's called a "worked-shoot"..

  • good to see tank's buddy lose HA HA

  • btw if you want to see more of saku's pro wrestling fights..just check out my HLs , there are a lot of his Kingdom fights..

  • its not fake but some of em are fixed.

  • This is one of the few real fights before Sak's UFC japan fight.

  • Well Sakuraba original started as a pro wrestler so its not suprised he does it from time to time

  • This is deff fake...Paul Herrera??wtf?

  • No this isn't that fake ass american shit. this is pure real budd. And besides what are you talking about? It doesn't even look fake.

  • That's fake but it just looks real.

  • Are you blind?! I've never seen fake wresling make a guy's face get red and swollen.

  • Its a worked Pro Wrestling match...Pro Wrestling in Japan are basically worked shoot fights

  • i can account for this not being fake since paul herrera is my coach. He said that sakuraba was the greatest fighter he'd ever faught and was impressed greatly with him. Paul also taught tito ortiz virtually everything he knows and trained vitor belfort back when he was on top in the ufc.

  • i can account for this being fake cause im Kazushi Sakuraba

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

    Gasp, wheeze, snort

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAA

No. Vitor was mostly Rickson trained. You're a liar.

  • Paul Herrera is the one in the infamous crucifux position by gary goodridge. (8 elbows)

  • hahahahahahahahahaha "ah ah ah ah auuh" hjahaha

  • sakuraba is an octopus

  • Looks like work to me

  • All you have to do is vist My MySpace to see a demonstration of Sakuraba using his advanced wrestling skill to subdue his opponent. He rarely used this style in Pride unless he had to which is what makes him so great. Love to see Angle vs. Sakuraba.

  • Actually, this is one isn't a work. A few Kingdom matches were legit shoots, this is one of them. The give-aways are the cornermen shouting instructions and getting annoyed and the methodical pace of the guard-work as compared with the frenetic pace of many other Saku bouts.

  • how come no strikes?

  • this is fake wrestling.. not much different from american fake wrestling. except they use real submission moves. which is probably where sakuraba got most his sparring practice.

  • this is not fake wrestling, this is called submission fighting, its no striking just grappling. the best of this kind in my opinion is defnitely Genki Sudo, he was great at it

  • There are strikes involved, but as you can see, they are fairly limited. Sakuraba had a couple "shoot" matches while under Kingdom; this is one, and his bout with Rene Rooze was another.

  • no.. its fake wrestling, this match is not listed in Sakuraba's fight mixed martial arts fight list. This is "Kingdom", not pride, not pancrase, not UFC. Sakuraba moved on to pride after kingdom went down. Genki fights in Pancrase.

  • No, Sherdog is not the most reliable record database when it comes to Japanese MMA and especially leagues with a mix of works and shoots.

His fights for Kingdom with Rene Rooze and Paul Herrera--possibly amongst others--were legitimate contests. In fact, if you look deeply on Sherdog, you'll find a first-hand account of the story behind the fight from one of Paul's training partners. He didn't want to take the fight and did it at the last second basically because Tank wanted to make some money.

  • Kingdom was just as much a work as the UWFi was. It's a realistic style of wrestling but the outcome is predetermined. The strikes are thrown harder than a typical pro wrestling match but not with the intent to win the fight until it's time to do so.

  • Much--most in fact--of Kingdom was predetermined.

But this match was not one of them; I repeat that Paul Herrera is on record as saying as much.

He says that Sakuraba is the best fighter he's ever gone against and, in spite of the circumstances of the fight, said he thought it was a great experience.

Rene Rooze and Paul Herrera were both shoots, there were possibly more, but I'm not sure.

  • they can strike when they are standing..
