at the selections of who was at first going to beijing was the hamm brothers but then they both had to drop out because of injury so 2 of the 3 alternates got put on the team and that was raj and sasha so thats how raj got on the olympics team for 2008
I dont understand the us selection for gymnastics at all..raj you are at the top of your game, and someone elses poor decisions do not define who you are as a person...you are very wise beyond your years...finally someone who understands that
people like you create stereotypes that discourage others from climbing great heights. Maybe you should worry about yourself before you start talking about others.
I'm so happy he made the team!!! Not happy that the Hamms had to pull out, of course, but Raj SO deserved the opportunity. It just sucks that he had to go through that disappointment yet again. :(
this guy is amazing. i totaly fell in love with him this year. im so glad he made it to the olympics this year and i hope he goes on to do great things. good luck in the future Raj!
he is so cute and I think he is the best. the the americain does like to see it because he did't have a place for the 2004 olympics and now I hope he will win in the 2008 olympics to proove that he was the best. go raj
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FINALLY! Some Fairness is shown. And thank goodness Paul finally showed some self-LESS-ness and took himself out. I'm so glad I don't have to watch his whiny ass this summer. Go RAJ!
Congrats Raj, you've earned it! Good luck in Beijing! Wow, so his orders to the Universe did come true - it's awesome how the Universe re-arranges itself to make things work out like that(but then again, it is the LAW of attraction). Amazing. Simply Amazing!
My heart goes out to Paul Hamm. He will forever be a great champion. He was very noble stepping down the way he did.
raj is such a great gymnast and she deserved to go to 04 and that was such a rip of that he was an alternate and that its happening again that he is a alternate for the 08 games
my heart brokes for raj hes been my fav since 2004 his so sweet i hope someone gets hurt i no that sounds mean but i want raj to get his olympic dream not to be a alt. again
yes, raj should have gotten a spot on the team. he has proved it twice now.
but anyone who says "they wont even watch the olympics now" or that "so and so didnt deserve to be on the team" are idiots. everybody on the team right now DESERVED a spot to be there, including morgan.

i really feel bad for saying this. but he did not deserve a spot on the team. yes he can chuck some big stuff, but he is sloppy. no one can disagree with that. look at his vault and high bar.
Excerpts from my blog 1 day before the team was announced-
No one wants or deserves it more than Raj. There is no way in hell I would put together a men's team without Raj! He is a wonderful person who is delightful to watch. You can't help but love Raj and cheer for him slightly louder than any other. If the committee shuns Raj, it will just be a slap in the face to all the Raj Bhavsar fans.
I can't even imagine. I am sooooo upset about this, I don't even know if I am going to watch the Olympic Men's gymnastics. THIS is where the sport loses fans! Raj has handled himself with such dignity and grace in a completely unjust situation... TWICE. His fans are mad enough for him though. The selection commitee can shove their computer scenarios where the sun doesn't shine!
Raj Rocks! We all know he's a great one, no one single magical year of greatness but a nice exciting career. He may not have been picked, but he's already a winner, he rocked trials and can be proud that he left it all out there on the mats.
The US Mens track team did this once with Carl Lewis... They said they could win with him but they could win without him too.. They didn't even finish the race.... You need these cluch guys on the team.. (They are the TEAM)
Raj is a winner in life. It's a real shame he wasn't named to the Olympic Team, but he's so graceful in the way he's handled it. However, who knows what will happen in the weeks to come with so many injured team members? But we do know that Raj has already won.
Raj was screwed again. Justin Spring and Morgan Hamm did not show up like Bhavsar did. I wont say it's racism but if his last name were "Hamm", he wouldn't have been on the bubble let alone left off the team. It's a damn shame.
How can someone who competes all-around, and well, be overlooked for people who concentrate on 1 or 2 areas? This was his last year competition. He has competed his whole life, came back after the sport let him down 4 years ago, and this is how they repay him? Shame on the committee for their lack of values. Is it that he is of Indian descent, or that his last name doesn't start with an H?
Raj won the Bronze medal in the Team Competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing
