@SuperAndroid2 All of the patinas and metal coatings are available on our webstore. These are reactive patinas and they must have a metal to react with or metal particles in the metal coatings. These patinas are not like paint and do not work over regular paint.
Alright, I got a couple questions. Firstly, can the green patina be used on bare metal, and if it can will the clearcoat seal it well enough to keep it from rusting through? Secondly, can the patina be used after the paint is completely dry? Because I wanted to use it on a surface, let it dry, paint over it, then sand through and use the patina to make it look like it's rusted through. Thanks.
@jamesandrewjohnson We have a huge selection of reactive patinas that may be used over both metal surfaces and surfaces with the metal coating applied. Call us and we can help you figure out what to use.
Hi there! I'm making my own custom made drum kit and I'd like to make the drums all look like rusty toxic waste barrels, I think your products are the only things I can use to get that real effect =D
I'd like to ask if there's any chance of this paint peeling, I shall be painting it straight onto wood but the drums are going to be handled a lot going from gig to gig and also the drums have to be under a lot of pressure to tune them, will the paint be okay?
@KaiDarkSnake As long as the metal coating is applied to a clean, dry surface it will stick. When in doubt you can also apply Prime-it primer 1st to help it stick that much better. It is also a good idea to do a paint test on a small surface area 1st to make sure everything works the way you want it to.
@kasai0494 Not sure about a tire, but it works over any surface that will take paint, i.e. wood, plastic, plaster, metal etc. Just make sure the part is clean and free of surface oil.
very nice vid.. may i ask if what kind of top coat can i put so it will stay.. is it clear coat.. or flat clear?? is it urethane or acrilic top coat can i use?? thanks
@franscine0425 Unless the piece goes outside I usually just leave it "as is". You can spray on Smart Cost, Permalac, or Permalac Flatened for a tough, out door coating.
@brickintheyard hello thanks for the reply... do you ship outside your country?? and may i ask how much is the products? im very interseted.. you can pm me.. thanks and godbless
@brickintheyard pls send me the prices of the products and the cost of the shipping.. im really interested on your rust effect products.. thanks and godbless
I do this by using a plywood board soak it up with ordinary wood glue or latex based glue diluted with water. Then I press fine sawdust (preferably sifted) well into the wet glue and let this dry.
Next shake the loose sawdust off, soak the whole thing with yellow (orange yellow) alcohol based wood tarnish. While it is still wet, I splash it with Mahogany and oak tarnish to make it more organic. Let this dry. You got realistic rust. You can seal this with water based lacquer diluted in water.
Great video!! You mentioned you had also made a video demonstrating how to make the fake metal bolts using a mold and resin. I have searched for this video and cannot find it!?
sweeeeeet, i wanted to make my new camera look old and was a little worried about dust getting into the censor.(is plastic a problem for that product?)
great vid very good effect, do you add the second colour patina after the first has dried? or do you need to add it like the first wile the base colour is still wet? thanks mate
Apply any reactive patinas while the metal coating is still wet. This allows the reaction to start before the metal powder is encapsulated in dry acrylic.
where to get green and tan patina? or can it be mix by paint? idk what that is

Does it feel like rust after it's been clearcoated or does it feel smooth? I'd prefer it to be as realistic as possible.

do u think the rust effect would work on an old steel bmx
tanks
monaroboy124 1 year ago
@monaroboy124 Yes. Primer the steel 1st so the rust doesn't destroy the real metal.

I believe it is in the "resin casting tips" video.

Thanks for the tips. I have a question, How well does this finish hold up outside in the weather?
questioneverything2 2 years ago
If properly applied and sealed with an outdoor sealer (i.e. Permalac) it holds up very well.

great job though!!

will any dust(rust) come off the wall? and if so how could i stop that?
benmightbehere 2 years ago
You can seal the finished surface with a matte clear coat.
