im getting this off amazon to replace a dieing FX 5700LE. wanted a nvidia card (too much trouble ive had out of agp ati cards...) with atleast SM3.0 got lucky as 1 used one was left :D the computer im putting it in is a custom built machine but it has parts from various system manufactures such as Dell (mobo and cpu both from a Dimension 4600), gateway (ram and power supply and video card), and an hp case and floppy drive. i hope its not doa or some shit...
wrong all dual, and quad core video cards like 4870x2 and 4870x2 Quad Crossfire benefit from the extra 1000biti bandwidth that this interface brings.AGP=512bit,PCIE=1024bit,PCIE2=2048bit
if u change the platform u chnge ALL:MOBO,CPU,DDR,VGA,and u may be giving more on a VGA but you dont give anything for mobo or CPU.i change from AGP to PCIE and the mobo didnt have any pcie so i got another but this one was AM2 instead of Sk754 so another CPU,another RAm DDR2 instead of DDR1,so u see u must watch the problem at a larger scale
Yes i know if you change platform for the most part you need to upgrade every other aspect, I am a pc technician, but i switched to PCIe back in 2007 so for those who haven't switched yet its time; AGP is DEAD. I first switched to S754 with the nForce3 chipset and it was HORRIBLE! then i sprung for the Asus M2N32-SLI, but recently upgraded to the PhenomII 920 and the Asus M3N-HT, tho i like the M2N32-SLI better..
Yea I couldn't afford new pc hardware for awhile there, in fact when I got it I doubt I could've really "afforded" it xD I had other money needs and ended up spending money I shouldn't have. OH well, it's all good now anyway, glad I did it.
i play with a 6600gt and its so laggy and the card cant handle the game even with a really low resolution like that plz dont lie. but hey it still plays cod4 at 35 fps at 1280x1024
mate ive gone one better complete new build with a 4870x2 the one with 2 gpus on a card on preorder so i can play all my games at 1920x1200 as i havea 24 inch hp beauty and 17inch as a slave monitor lol

PCi E is old PCI E 2 is coming out

except that there aren't cards that can take advantage is PCIe 2.0's bandwidth, so it doesn't matter at this point in time.

true... and you said there are some people who can't afford PCIe cards so they get agp, when AGP cards are actually MORE expensive than PCIe cards
