The lyrics- in what language are they? I'm almost sure they are in the old kind of english they use in poetry(i'm not a native english speaker, sorry), but i find words like facade, or bouquet, which are clearly french, as far as i know. At all, the lyrics sound beautiful. Can somebody tell me what language are they?

@poetofdamnation I'm not an expert, but I guess this is basically traditional English combined with a lot of French expressions.

@Imiface I think it's middle English, and perhaps the French influences are due to the words that came in during the Norman conquest of England. Though they tended to be amongst only the nobility, so I'm not really sure to be honest - researching the origin of the song may present more answers :)

@poetofdamnation its medieval english, along with french words. middle english was spoken through late 11th century to the late 15th century. the use of this language in the song is clearly to travel you back in the time and make you feel the haunted legent of Lorelei, even though the legend of Lorelei did not exist back then.The folklore of Lorelei as a girl was first created in 1801 by a german poet,Clemens Bretano. the use of french words is clearly to make it more exotic and haunted :)

To be perfectly honest, I don't listen to Theatre of Tragedy for the music. They're very meh in those terms, usually borrowing from better bands'.

dudes, honestly its been years. either suck a dick or move on. The band changed, nothing we can do about it now. Liv Kristine has gone on to do her own solo and band and the guys are still doing their thing.

To a degree that does happen but I believe it is a matter of personal taste, me I appreciate every album I can enjoy for the parts I like good or indifferent change.

Their new cd's are good not the same I LOVE the darker doom style but they were still good.

@Funeralmoon666 indeed, this is better than most gothic metal bands today and darker than most gothic acts at all, I believe they're underrated because since they changed singers,their music has gotten less quality but it's just my opinion,I might be wrong. Aégis and velvet darkness they fear were one of my favourites and I'd love to see them get back to it,forever is the world was a good effort but too bad they broke up,a real shame
