  • BRILLANT! UP THE RA!!!

  • @Robloxtiarnan Typical dick head turning a song about the plight of the people in the famine into something political. Fuck off and give Ireland peace.

  • lovely me da's fav song

  • celtic till i die huns fuk off

  • In 1920/21 a loyalist minority got the "say" in Ireland. That's not Democracy.

Get it right churchhill only offered 2 northern counties to DeV. - the two that were "Gerrymandered" by the loyalist/british - Fermanagh and Tyrone HAVE ALWAYS HAD NATIONALIST MAJORITIES

  • god bless ireland

  • CELTIC FC FOREVER

  • @jimmycar2k9 What the fuck does soccer have to do with this song

  • Sandyrow is one of many multiple accounts, the sash is a dirty song sang by foreigners, tiocfaidh ar la.

  • We cant even enjoy a lovely song...without bringing politics into it?......shameful, and sad at same time....god bless everyone..please just enjoy.........there has been too much hate already......

  • Another nice Irish song is The Sash was very popular at dance halls in Fermanagh and elsewhere

  • that ws beautiful

  • the only time in history ireland was united. was under british rule . rab

  • Bullshit, the 25% Unionists in the North always protested a Republic while the 75% of people in the south wanted freedom. That sure as hell doesnt sound like unity. Learn some irish history before making stupid claims

  • nice one rob, Nationalists cant accept the shame that they partitioned Ireland. If you ever read the Government of Ireland Act you can see it was drafted on the basis that Ireland would eventually be re-united only the South f**ked it up. The South realized that the north was too much of a hot potato, so much so that when Churchill offered the North to De Valera in return for the use of Irelands ports in the war he REFUSED

  • Extraordinary! affects the music, the words, Major Ireland.

  • im welsh but me family from derry and i think the irish should get the north back love the song aswell.

  • The N.Irish don't think that thought, so it wouldn't be very fair on them to be put back with the Republic.

  • well they shud fuk off if they dont want to live in ireland they should either die or fuk off away outa the rode

  • Support from a German with irish blood

  • oh baby let the free birds fly!!!!!

  • THE IRISH SHOULD GET THE NORTH BACK

  • Why dont you complain about this song :L?

    Its about the famine aswell.

    GO HOME ;)!

  • come on the irish!!!!!!

  • Not a good version "The Dubliners" are the best at this song

  • i may not be irish but I am Proud to admit that If i could be i would Be Irish and very proud the music is Soothing yet Upbeat during some and the Fields of Athenry is a song that i find very interesting and i just love it

  • COME ON IRELAND

  • i am a scots prodastant with proud irish blood

  • TIOCFAIDH AR LA!!!

  • HAIL HAIL!

    Fuck the Huns

    Ireland for the Irish

  • F**kin BRILLANT

  • is this a scottish song......

  • Irish.

  • hail hail xxxx

  • Oh,that's a really good version of this song!

I also like the version performed by Paddy Reilly.

I am not Irish, but I am studying in Dublin. This country is great!

Once here I've learned to love Irish music.

I will go back to my country in few weeks and I will miss Dublin! I wish all the best to Ireland and to the Irish people.

    Bye!

  • R.I.P Ronnie ya legend

  • I love to hear 60 thousand Glasgow Celtic Supporters at Celtic Park sing this song.

    Magic

    Hail Hail

  • to much politcs let it go

  • mon the celtic :d

  • If any song can bring tears to your eyes, it's this one. Beautiful!

  • r.i.p ronney drew !! :)

  • I have a friend who sent me this son that he sang. I cried all the way through it. He sang so beautifully.

  • rip ronnie sadly died today :(

  • Beautiful song again darrin....ty.

  • ma dead grandad used to sing this to me... it brings tears to my eyes but i love it... it reminds me of him and back in ireland in the meadows and up in the hills!

  • My beautiful brother Garry Mulvaney used to sing this who has since emigrated to Vancouver. A lovely song sang by a lovely brother. I miss you Gaz xx

  • Fab Song, My wee boy got baptised a few months ago and the band sang this along with everyone else, lovely song!!

  • im not british, im welsh :)

    F***ing great song :)

  • TIOCAIDH

  • sounds so sad but also great....

  • I must listen to this song at least twice a week. Like this effort with the uillean pipes very much. Was trevelyan any worse than cromwell? Both were bastards. Celtic blood says "Eirinn Go Brach" and Confederate heritage says "Deo Vindice"

  • llliiiaaam ..WISE UP..!!!

THIS SONG HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LIVERPOOL !!

its a song from ireland and celtic soo jus wisee up use just fink use can steal all celtics songs.!! WISE UP

  • Yeah i know we sing our own version, but that evolved from this. There are alot of Irish in Liverpool you know, my family are Irish.

  • i don't give a fuck about that i'm irish..

    just enjoi the song..

    is this dubliners?

  • "Against the famine and the crown" - it's about a fella who stole corn from another fella and was transported to Botany Bay for his crimes. So it's not a rebel song in the true tradition, but it's certainly anti-British.

The love was shattered by the Brits who transported Michael ten thousand miles to the end of the earth, on a prison ship.

By the way: 'England saw The great starvation, a way to destroy the Irish nation, Eviction famine and disease, brought the Irish people to their knees.'

  • Fantastic song!

    God Bless Portugal

  • Love this song, YNWA LFC 4 LIFE!

  • cummon man :-)

im a rangers fan from glasgow but i love this song and this song was played at my grandas funeral i love this song and my granda was a rangers fan too cummon man just love a masterpeice of a song not shit things like "charlie and the bhoys" and btw to you irish people you wenrt sayin all this when you got shipped over to britian and we all thought you were bomberss 8-) my mothers irish thers nothing worng with britan

  • FAIL FAIL The celts are here

  • get a life mate listen to the lyrics fuck the british this about the irish

  • I am spanish, and this songs touches my soul, I don't mix it with politics

  • wah, listening to this like the 20st time now...great song...

  • irish catholic and proud to be!

  • hibs are puccies who wont fight against the prodestant cunts rangers

    CELTIC FOR LIFE

  • shut up and learn how 2 spell u cunt!

  • so are you one the frontline you ass Pub singers give the people hope for years and great music that we will always remember.

so get that dirty jack of your profile and get the tri colour up your stinking the room up

  • It's upsetting that people still have a feud between each other in the meaning of this song, as I see it, it's a song about the poverty the scourged the irish during a time of no food, the english* (not british) did not help at this time, but thats no need to argue, the english around us now a days arent the same as then. I have no quarrel with the irish, I am one of the few English descendants of the Celts, and I am proud of my herritage. This song means different things to different ppl.

  • The song means his family was starving and he stole brit corn and got sent to australian prison colony as for the famine there was none it was genocide.........

  • well it was infact Maize not corn lol but same difference... Pete St John = legend

Éire fíor agus fíor, Tiocaidh ár lá

^ Ireland true and true, out time will come

  • In the name of crap MAIZE IS CORN

  • i know lol, i just relised that after i posted.

but i read somewhere that the corn was of shit quality. that broke up badly in water, trust the brits to produce that shit.

  • Get your finger out of your arse corn is an

American Indian product...You must be a brit you appear to give them too much credit for everything

  • no im not a brit.. please that is the greatest insult someone can call an Irish person.

  • Oh I know being IRISH myself I KNOW you Brit

  • so are you Irish then? like have you been to Ireland or are you one of them people that claim that there grandfathers, dads, brothers, uncle was Irish

  • Actually back then, 'corn' was used to refer to all grain crops not just maize.

  • excellent song...i got rating #100!

  • i just listened to drop kick murphys version of this great song,my god they murdered the the it. give me the original any day.

  • god bless ireland!!!! and the US of course..

    ERIN GO BRAGH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • brilliant song makes me proud of beng irish as i suppose it does everyone irish god bless us irish and irelands friends

  • @fatherted101 i an irish freind love this song and the irish got the irish in me blood maybe acple generations ago hate when people dont understand why

  • how could you say that! just because ur not pleased with the irish..doesnt mean you have the right or dignity to accuse another race! its not right!

  • Top tune

  • bril song!!! 100% irish!! I love bein Irish! im so proud of my nation!! Low lie the of athenry, were once watched de small free birds fly. Our love was on the wing. We had dreams and songs to sing. Its so lonely round the fields of athenry.

  • LOVE IT!!

  • im not irish or anythingg

    but this song

    is amazingg!!!

  • you do know its slightly anti british

  • I thought it was anti povety, oppression, and injustice?

  • Who gives a flyin one?

God save the queen is anti scottish!

  • what are you all about?

hibs are irish/scottish and you prefer god save the queen:O:O

    mon the hibees

    Erin Gor Bragh!!

  • No i dont tht was a reply to a comment sayin fields of anthenry is anti brittish!

  • It is more mourning the times of which it speaks and it is more of a specific prejudice rather than all British, for instance Trevelyan was British and responsible for many lives being lost in Ireland but I think in general Ireland has always acknowledged there is good and bad in Britain with variation between each person.

  • The english being the bad lol

  • In that case yes, there is no culture or race free from mistakes though, no matter how bad the mistake may be.

  • is it luke kelly singin' this song?

  • just a brilliant song song with passion

  • The things our people went through. I am so proud of my heritage and in all honesty I think all Irish are.

  • Thats the best comment ive ever heard!

    We are all proud!

    God Bless!
