Always get a pre purchase inspection done at a reputable mechanic shop. If the seller won't let you or comes up with excuses walk away from the vehicle.

It's needed some work here and there, but I expected that from a 12 year old car with over 130,000 miles. It's really easy to work on, anyway, so I enjoy it. I'm really sorry you got a bad one, but viewers should also know there's good stuff out there, too.
I would just junk the motor not worth fixing we had a chevy 350 small block that did the same thing. Poor craftsmenship u can buy another motor cheap and its ur rod hitting ur valve cover. Cause it sounds like it already blew ur lifter

We don't know the cause of this, it happened right after we bought the car, and we bought it running like crap. Is there any way that mixed up spark plug cables for a long time could do this?
@igotaharo no and how is r rod hitting your valve cover... did the head just disapear into no where and you bolted your valve cover to the block lmao?? but still, no spark plug wires being reversed could not cause that.. i guess it was just time the engine kicked the bucket ya know
@xXJegs1320Xx Yeah, chevy 350 is pretty much the same as this engine. So, the connecting "rod" has somehow managed to disintegrate the pistion, burn through the cylinder head, and now is pounding on the valve cover? LMFAO! Okay dude, good call!
my 2002 gt makes the same knocking sound but won't even start, just makes that horrid knock. Also the theft light flashes. Did you find out what the prob was?

They are a trrible company, rude, they make poor cars and don't care about their customers. I only speak the truth from experience. Bailout or not, Chrysler is ten times the compant ford can ever hope to be. The mustang is zero compared to a car like the challenger - no comparison in the quality, not to mention it could outrun the mustang any day of the week.

Maybe you just got asshole employees(You know that dealers, and shops just sell the product, and that Ford doesnt have anything to with the hiring of the sales person right?). The truth doesnt come from one persons experience. If you do any sort of research, you would not only see that Ford has the average higher quality rating, but the 3.7 V6 Mustang is on par with the Challenger, the 5.0 is a full 1-2 seconds quicker to 60.

Every customer complains about the quality of the focus and almost every customer is not satisfied with their ford product. On the other hand we have customers who own Chrysler products and while not everyone loves them, there is a far higher rate of customer satisfaction for reliability.
I had a 5.0l before, it was in the shop more times then I drove it.

JD power has rated the Ford Focus as the top quality American compact car for about 10 years. I just drove in a 2010 Escape the other day and it was disturbing. Rattles from the back, cheap plastic door panels - terrible. My 2011 Caravan had soft, quality door panels, is quiet and has class - the ford tries, but fails miserably as always. As the the 5.0l, we won't even go into that pile of scrap.

my buddy bought a chevy impala off craigslist for 9 grand and drove it back to ga from florida as soon as we got it into ga the engine started sounding just like this come to find out they put chainsaw oil in the engine to cover up the knock for a while

We don't know the cause of this, it happened right after we bought the car, and we bought it running like crap. Is there any way that mixed up spark plug cables for a long time could do this?
