I also know what it's like to lose a pet, tho 'pet' seems such an understatement when they become part of your family. I've seen some people immediately get another dog, cat, etc after their last one dies. Personally I couldn't do that, replacing such a special friend so soon, as I'm sure Pokey was to you.

I'm really, really sorry for your loss. I lost one of my dogs in January, and it's a lot harder than people think. My dog was like one of my best friends. Dogs are really amazing animals; they all have such distinct personalities and bring so much happiness. This video is really touching. Pokey was a beautiful dog.

Thanks a lot for your sympathy, I do appreciate it. They really are amazing animals, I don't think any dog will be able to replace Pokey. It's little things she did that I notice aren't happeneing any more, like barking at the pizza delivery guy or whimpering because I'm going out somewhere and not taking her.
