@MrNewyork1966 anything you can cram in your mouth. Us powerlifters NEED calories. deals with carbohydrate leves and protein levels, and glycogen stores, but essentially, if you see food, you eat the food
I'd like to see gymnasts or runners do some heavy squats, deadlifts and bench press. The reason I said this is because they lack the qualities of having overall fitness level. BTW. he's not bench press specialist he's a powerlifter. That means squat, deadlift, bench press. Having excellent cardiovascular system is must for these guys. Put 1000 pounds on your back, hold the breath and let me know how you feel. I call it great overall fitness level.
@m5p944 Runners (sprinters) are often very good squatters, and have an ok deadlift. Bench press really doesnt show much overall fitness. Powerlifters who squat 1000 pounds have a terrible cardio system, if you let them run 500m, they die. Ever read Jim Wendler's 5/3/1? people who are that strong can only use their strength to squat and thats it. They have no overall fitness. Not hating on powerlifting, i love it too but the top powerlifters are NOT athletic, theyre just good at their lifts
@MMAxJC and hockey players can't play basketball good and soccer players can't win a bodybuilding competition and mma fighters can't do well in powerlifitng. I wonder why because they don't trai for it. I hate how people compare different sports.

@rscabbage i aint yelling at you but he is a child of west-side barbell, and they focus on GPP so they do do a lot of fast twitch cardio shit like heavy farmers walk, 50 meter heavy tire flips. But cardio especially long distance puts your body into anabolic shock, which hinders muscle growth, so they do things to get around it. Its the same reason marathon runners dont look like bodybuilders. It wouldnt suit there sport, however they are fit. Different kinds of fittness.

@NRGPhuk puffy face means nothing there are only a couple of roids out there that will cause that and even then it wont cause it in everyone not only that but this guy is obviously more of the powerlifting type in other words has big muscle and some fat with it aswell so some puffy around the face would be expected to think that u can say "puffy face = steroids" is just a big fail imo
Work opposing muscle groups...Rear dealts, upper back, and try and press from your upper back/elbows. Actually, just how hard you grip the bar can have a big impact on bench press...strengthen your forearms. Not many secretes otherwise untill you need that extra 5-10lbs. on your press. Then board/floor presses and all those cute little rubber bands :)
