Its a treat to see the propaganda we used during the war. My mother said she'd go to the movies (in 1942) and during the newsreels when the Japanese flag was shown everyone would hiss and boo.

Cartoons reached people and were shown before the main movie. Great stuff and a good take on the Spike Jones song.

It seems inappropriate to us today because we have a better perspective on Nazi war crimes, but at the time the details of the Holocaust and various massacres were not well-known in the US and would not be until the war was over. This sort of broad lampooning of political enemies via cartoons and caricatures goes back hundreds of years.
