Yes, I think Davison is hugely under-rated. He brought youth and a more casual style to the role, while retaining the suave, polite, no-nonsense English gentleman aspect (cf. test cricket uniform) - a great combination, IMHO.
Surely beats the hell out of Tennant, who acts like a teenager on speed and like everything is a game. He couldn't be serious and mature if his life depended on it.
I agree with you fully on the Davison thing. I recently watched "Earthshock" and he was magnificent as the Doctor.
However I must disagree on your Tennant statement. Firstly, that's just the tenth Doctor's personality. And secondly, he does act serious, quite a bit actually, he has an extremly dark side to his character at times and deals with situations with the upmost sencerity when he is in this mood.
Thought that he(Peter Davison)was the best Doctor who, but Tom Baker(the real Doctor who) was good also and so was Sylvester McCoy. Colin Baker didn't live up to standard as Doctor who and was glad when he left.
Favorite opening for the whole classic series. The Visitation was also a very good episode. Got a little tired of Doctor Who when he regenerated again. But the new series renews my love of it all.

Noticed how the music has been revamped with a techno-rock influence. Would stand up today. That tune is so timeless

It might be me, but do I spy in the final seconds someone in the background, who looks very much like Paul McGann does in the film?
