Eff you no groove having MFs! Go practice so that maybe,JUST MAYBE, you can have a pocket like Gadson some day. Personally, I wouldn't have just posted this clip of Gadson by himself. He's not a soloist. But the stuff he DOES do, he does extremely well. And he's been doing it for a long time before most of us were born. In closing, I suggest all you critics get a life and go shed.
This tiny 40 seconds clip displayed mature off-rhythm ability. 16th note with the left hand & keeping time with 8th notes with the right hand, with a delayed back-beat on the bass drum.
@fnkdrmmr It's not delayed, it's on the 1st and 3rd beat, and the hi-hat is on the 2nd and 4th beat. Seriously, it's extrmely basic swing.
Actually, when he goes into 16th notes, he doesn't swing it anymore, so there is absolutly nothing impressive with his play.
Nice speed with his left hand, though, I must admit, but once again, at the speed he's playing, he shouldn't use his fingers, but only his wrists to get there.
I guess I could understand how some could find his groove cool though.
@Beaudereck An expert is a person who can tell you a million ways to make love, but doesn't know any girls. Real artists would rather play with a cat like Gadson than some loser like you who has plenty of chops that he plays in his mom's basement.
James Gadson, since I was a boy Gad has had the greates't hands and feet. His ability to maintain tempo is unmatched! His Sixteenth is off the chain. Love Ya Gad. It's Gee.
somebody get this man a real drum set !! i HATE the sound of modern drums all bright and guitar center soundish no matter what model, James Gadson is the best !!
@checkabreak .... well said ... i will use that phrase from now on .... " guitar center sound " .... i have been looking for a phrase that captures this real controlled sort of DW new drum sound ..
@redbeargreenbear really guys? not terribly impressed, sure hes good but..... if i wanna see someone hold back but still blow me away, its purdie everytime.
i just want him to take off his wig...

Is this one handed roll played like the free hand technique or just fingers?
drummerjen 2 months ago
@drummerjen Just the fingers. He's not even touching the rim.

HOLY SHIT. Tragic that 90% of drummers today can't grasp what just happened there. But just, fucking wow. THAT is control.

Mr.James Gadson is always under rated! All the new drummers just show off their chops should learn a lot from these great humble masters !
