  • i just want him to take off his wig...

  • Is this one handed roll played like the free hand technique or just fingers?

  • @drummerjen Just the fingers. He's not even touching the rim.

  • Eff you no groove having MFs! Go practice so that maybe,JUST MAYBE, you can have a pocket like Gadson some day. Personally, I wouldn't have just posted this clip of Gadson by himself. He's not a soloist. But the stuff he DOES do, he does extremely well. And he's been doing it for a long time before most of us were born. In closing, I suggest all you critics get a life and go shed.

  • GRAVITY BLAST

  • @phntazma95 thats no gravity blast

  • Yes I agree, nice left hand speed. Other than that, eh.

  • PURE DEATH METAL YEEEAH BLAST BEATS !!! :D:D

  • Thats how a straight pimp handles his buisness jack!

  • it's the toupee isn't it? damn. i'm getting one.

  • Give us more of Mr. Gadson.

  • it;'s hardly long enough to say very much about the guy

  • Can you just imagine John Bonham on the drum channel. He would wipe the floor with everyone!

  • @redbeargreenbear who said the new drummers arnt humble?

  • Istanbul cymbals... HAAAHHHH!!!!!

  • Black samurai :-P

  • His hi-hat feel on Express Yourself is so sleazy it should be x-rated!

  • just a 1/4 beat behind when he switches from rim-snare.

  • This tiny 40 seconds clip displayed mature off-rhythm ability. 16th note with the left hand & keeping time with 8th notes with the right hand, with a delayed back-beat on the bass drum.

  • @fnkdrmmr You said it Funk Drummer! time for me to go work that groove out myself!

  • @fnkdrmmr It's not delayed, it's on the 1st and 3rd beat, and the hi-hat is on the 2nd and 4th beat. Seriously, it's extrmely basic swing.

Actually, when he goes into 16th notes, he doesn't swing it anymore, so there is absolutly nothing impressive with his play.

Nice speed with his left hand, though, I must admit, but once again, at the speed he's playing, he shouldn't use his fingers, but only his wrists to get there.

I guess I could understand how some could find his groove cool though.

  • @Beaudereck An expert is a person who can tell you a million ways to make love, but doesn't know any girls. Real artists would rather play with a cat like Gadson than some loser like you who has plenty of chops that he plays in his mom's basement.

  • HOLY SHIT. Tragic that 90% of drummers today can't grasp what just happened there. But just, fucking wow. THAT is control.

  • that one handed roll was killer

  • James Gadson, since I was a boy Gad has had the greates't hands and feet. His ability to maintain tempo is unmatched! His Sixteenth is off the chain. Love Ya Gad. It's Gee.

  • anybody know what kind of rack tom head hes using? want to buy it

  • This Guy Is great I Mean he has played for the late great Micheal Jackson, on the track Dancing Maching check it out its so funky

  • Lmfao at the blast beats comment

  • BLAST BEATS WOOOOO

  • somebody get this man a real drum set !! i HATE the sound of modern drums all bright and guitar center soundish no matter what model, James Gadson is the best !!

  • @checkabreak .... well said ... i will use that phrase from now on .... " guitar center sound " .... i have been looking for a phrase that captures this real controlled sort of DW new drum sound ..

  • James is the Mam!

  • @houseofchintz Mam?

     XD

  • Mr.James Gadson is always under rated! All the new drummers just show off their chops should learn a lot from these great humble masters !

  • @redbeargreenbear really guys? not terribly impressed, sure hes good but..... if i wanna see someone hold back but still blow me away, its purdie everytime.

  • @redbeargreenbear True in some cases but there are still some great groove players out there that arnt so big on chops

  • @redbeargreenbear Well said, Well said!

  • This clip does not show the great playing ability of Mr. Gadson. Please post more on James Gadson.

  • You can see him playing in the footage of Bill Withers TV appearances from the early 70s, like Ain't No Sunshine and Use Me.

  • wow

  • he should be the new drummer for suffocation

  • wath kind of ride is that???

  • istanbul sultan

  • Jim Chapin ROCKS

  • Now if he could keep the shuffle going with his right hand.. it would be awesome..

  • This is all cool stuff, but I am still waiting for SIMON PHILLIPS!! Please guys, please bring him to the show.

  • They need to bring that hair do back in style..lol

  • epic left hand!

  • Haha he would be amazing at metal drumming

  • good single hand roll not necessarily good for only death metal. but its a damn good technique by it self.

  • lol blast beats

  • blastbeatz

  • Serious left hand!
