You don't need graphics to enjoy the mathematical and probability aspect of chess. Or any dexterity game (FPS or Combat Centric Games). There are many genres of games with such mechanics that an Abstract Graphic Representation doesn't really matter because the game is about its mechanics not the graphical experience.

There are the other kind of games which deliver an Experience, Story or Adventure. These kind of games use "Graphics" and artistic aspects like Story, Voice..etc to deliver that kind of experience. Whether it's Thrill or Adventure, these kind of games would make good use of decent graphics which would add a lot to the game exprience

It'll likely be just like guild wars, you'll build up a big repertoire of powers over the course of the game and then you'll equip 7 active and 7 passive of your choice. That actually leaves you with millions of possible combinations of character build.

@EyeconicTV Who gives a $h** about graphics anyways? UO still lives on soley based on it's open ended gameplay mechanics. WoW is a clone of every grind before it, and almost every western grind after is a clone of WoW, DAOC, or EQ.. Funcom and Turbine have done a pretty good job of making unique titles in the past for the most part. I haven't looked into this game much yet but hopefully they have more than open ended combat going for it. Personalization, Customization and World building are key.

However it's still in beta, theres lots of filters, and effects they can do to polish it up on launch. And if you ask me, these early beta graphics look about as good as a ps3/360 game like red dead redemption, gta 4 or saints row 2. I'm sure they'll take advantage of the engine as much as possible.

@theelusiveone I'd doubt that. In official forums Secret Societys seem quite even and I believe it's because all the societys are both "good" and "evil". It won't go the old way with only Bad side and Good side. Societys are also very different from each other with their philosophy and style and as the old wisdom goes, people are different and different things appeal to them. For me it's either Templar or Dragon

I know the test does not matter and we can still choose what we want to be....I think choosing the machine gun over the sword had a big impact on that. The guy who made The Longest Journey is behind this one. It was a badass game and I don't even really get into those types of games. It was just so fun though.
