Who carries around sword now a days? These days the primary weapon people use to commit any crime is a gun and since most guns can be used from mid to long distants there is not really much you can do to protect yourself besides wearing a bullet proof vest and gun.

@RoninDave Was this a demo I love watching demo on how weapons are used in my group (Torch Dubh) we do them through out the year on Irish fighting Dan Axe, hand axe with dirk, Great Sword, Gallowglass Axe and other European weapons and my favoret is the Falchion which I am still learning. This is very cool are they a reenactment group.

Keep in mind they use the rope as a demo to replace a weighted chain because the chain would kill someone in the demo. You're not cutting a chain with a sword no matter how many samurai movies you've seen it happen in.
