Yes he was running far too much compression per his meter. I run a 950SDX as an ESSB op, and seeing such a fine radio used in that manner makes me cringe! To each their own, he loged the contact which is what he wanted. I would rather have an ESSB QSO where my audio sounds like a 160/75 Meter AM station. Again to each their own.

@kc9mav Hi you only need to run about 5db comp you must have been splattering and the audio would have been distorted just friendly advice good video Great radio in my opinion the best ever made i have one and would never sell it noting comes close to it i have had lots of top end radios so i can make that statement with the knowledge of having compared it with other radios ic7700 ic781 Orion ft100mp mk5 ft2000 good radio. ts870 still got it and ts850/dsp100. to name just a few.950sdx Rocks
