hi ive also been trying to play this by ear and know most of it but i cant workout the keys you play from around 30 seconds onwards. the sweet sounding bit. i think its around 3 chords im missing. if you could help thatd be great.
matt, ive been trying to work out this song by ear also but im having a bit of trouble with the really sweet bit from around 30 seconds onwards. 3 chords i think your playing but i cannot make them out from the vid.. the rest seems pretty straightforward but itd be good to know that particular bit. thanks
The chords for the "forward he cried" section (in this case) are:
Cm
Cm/Bb Cm/Ab Db major
So you play the C minor chord with a standard C in the bass, then play the C minor chord with the Bb in the bass follwed by a Cm chord with the Ab in the bass, followed by a Db major chord.
I'll see if i can post a tutorial vid when i get the chance
@matthehat Hi there, always loved this piece.. well worked out. If you find the time please make a short tutorial, I have been trying to play it but cant get very far...
Thanks for playing this. I watched the making of this album on "Classic Albums", and was sad that they left this song off the "Zabriskie Point" soundtrack. You're a good musician!
Hey im done using My sisyers account Dinosour132 i got a new one if u wanna lookat my page that'd be kool and im gettin a video camera for christmas ill have a vid or 2 see ya later bye.
Thank you. Do you think you might make more floyd songs? If you want some insperation look up pink floyd on piano on youtube. Theres alot i watched and i came to this video.
Hey. You're really good do u think i could get this on guitar? lol i play lots of Floyd on guitar but im nervouse to put it on youtube. But i want people to see me play as good as you.( but in guitar of course)
Youtube is a great place to play, and if you're just new people give you encouragement. This is realy a piano piece, but you could try adapting it for guitar. it's in Eb Major, or D if you want to step it down
As much as I like The Travel Sequence, I much prefer On the Run, simply because it was so new and exciting at the time. It's one of those albums that every song has to be there, or so I feel.
I'm sorry, the website I got it off was shut down last week by David Gilmour's management for allowing Bootleg trade. All I can suggest is trying P2P networks...
That was good, I have the audio recording of the studio version of The Violent Sequence also I've heard there are jams or it as a 20~ minute jam but still okay.
It is true that the studio version is longer, and the pattern is slightly more irregular, but I find that when playing this piece myself, this pattern suits me fine
I apologise for my lack of clarity. I do have a copy of the bootleg track, and you are right, it is 6'02. What I meant was my version (above) is shorter than the studio bootleg track. Sorry for the mix up! Incidently, It was a demo, intended for the film "zabriskie point". The director turned it down, claiming it was too sad.
I wish I could play this on piano. I would play it for the talent show at school.

That's the one thing I hate about DSOTM. They replaced this with Us & Them and The Travel Sequence with On The Run. I like the originals better.

I don't use sheet music, and I don't have ti to share. It's easy to learn by ear, honestly.

Sounds like "Us and Them"
BrokenChair88 3 years ago
That's because Us and Them was derived from this, have you read the blurb?
matthehat 3 years ago
Broken Chair is annoying.
Anyway, great version! Love the sequence, i think is more beautiful than Us and Them.
