As a percussionist and a drummer of all styles (other than gospel) I can safely say that he isn't good. The one thing he has is above average stamina, but that only comes in handy if you're going to pound the drums as hard as you can and break 3 heads every minute like Barker does. He does suck. Most of the drummers I know could blow him away.

@TVOham Are you kidding? Why are you so ignorant of his style and skills. I used to be just like you, thinking I was better than him, but I realized I am nowhere near as good as he is. For punk rock and alternative music, he is the best drummer in that genre easily. If you want to talk what drummers that think are amazing in other genres I can list tons. His stuff may be "simple" to play, but his stamina and his imagination he uses to create the drum tracks in blinks songs are unreal.

Why are people comparing Casey Brohard to Travis Barker? People who are posting stuff about Travis Barker do not know crap about drumming. They just looked up drumming videos and saw Travis Barker, then went to the suggested videos and saw this. Any real drummer wouldn't compare Travis to Casey because they would know that they are completely different drummers. You can't compare Tony Royster to Ivan Pacheco, or Dave Weckl to Tim Jackson. @macleod300 I use set as a stress relief and maybe to make a little money. I use my set once or twice a week, snare drumming every day. There is no technique to set drumming so anyone can play a set like Barker. It takes a lot more skill to play snare. This is due to the fact that in the fall time (for high schools) you are marching in a billion(exaggerated) different directions on top of that we will be playing some very difficult stuff. Do that for one season and then talk to me about Barker.

@Broons2112Bane I think people like Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Terry Bozzio, Mike Portnoy, Mike Mangini, Buddy Rich, or some of the various other great set players would take offense to what you are saying about how there is no technique or challenge in set playing. You may be able to imitate those guy, but you could never do what they do. If you could you wouldn't be some guy on youtube. Set is fairly easy to be mediocre at, but rather difficult to become a master at.

Snare may be more difficult in a technical sense, but it lacks the soul that you get from set drumming. I could listen to a snare drummer for an hour or so, maybe two if he was good. I could listen to set drum solos for days, because there's depth and sound variation that you simply can't achieve on a snare. Besides, drum sets look BADASS.
