  • Im in the sculling program. I've been rowing since spring. I have to do this on saturday. Hope I don't fail

  • HRRA sculling programs = win

    HRRA sweep programs = fail

  • Ovako je lako kad ti se camac ne prevrne mogu i ja da udjem -.-

  • i had to teach myself how to this on the starting line of a race. cause the wind and the waves were too fierce 3 other boats capsized with me

  • haha, we never learned how to capsize! They just waited for us to do it ourselves! :D

  • i swear you're just supposed to throw your blades away and capsize otherwise you're putting too much [pressure on the riggers...

  • Haha its totally important to learn how to get back in though...flipping is bound to happen eventually :(

  • why are you teaching them how to flip. I spend almost 1 month as a novie rower on a single and never fliped... retards

  • i dont really see the purpose to this. That is not how you flip. When you flip you are usually at the catch (the most unstable point) or you just caught a crab and the oar is being wrenched out of your hand and you slam into the water. Practice the real thing!

  • its actually really really easy to get back into a sculling boat. for me anyway.

  • when i flipped in a scull i got caught under neath

  • ive been rowing for 7+ years and I just recently flipped after tipping a wave with my oar and it went flying out of my hand. now im paranoid any time the water isnt glassy flat lol.

  • omg disaster-devastetion of nice boat

  • I would have preferred to see them actually flip the boat rather them fall out of the boat. Women generally have a harder time getting back in because they have a lower center of gravity (child bearing hips). Judging by the way this club rows I am sure they will have many more opportunites to practice this drill.

  • L2Physics please, women having a lower center of gravity INCREASES their balance. - Education, get it.

  • Did you read what I said? Their lower center of gravity makes it difficult to get back in the boat after having flipped (in addition to a weaker upper body). Calm down. If you have education then you wouldn't have misinterpreted my comment.

  • Great way to wreck your gear. More money than sense.

  • is that a training

  • lol BBG junior ^^ thats what i rowed 2 years ago :D

  • wow that looks like a pain in the A

  • i havenever had to conciously do a capsize drill but have accidentally fallen out enough times i can get back in un aided

  • i was in NY last summer but i m not sure if i saw the rowingplace with the boat trip, isnt it north-west of NY?

  • Deep water remount is a strange one, you either get it first time or it's really difficult. What I teach is that you should try it, but if you can't get it first time, climb onto the stern canvass and kick the scul to the bank like a surfboard. If you spend a long time trying to remount and failing, you are getting more and more tired and cold - real killers, even in a warm water environment. Happy rowing!

  • Thanks for the safety tip Clyde.

  • i eventually got in even when water was around 60 degrees and wind was blowing and I couldnt touch the ground. that after 10 minutes trying to get my feet out of stretchers and another 10 minutes trying to get in the boat while just before falling I was doing a difficult workout lol.

  • When we did our capsize test, we capsized. We had to throw our blades away in front of us and the boat literally turned upside down and you go with it! They're throwing themselves out!!! tee hee hee :)

  • hehehe i remember my first skull :P pretty scary. almost flipped myself :) coach kept saying keep them level :P

  • ¬¬

    cambadas!

  • just dont drop the oars and you won't fall

and keep the oars horizontal to the water

  • Go up to the catch and square the blades. Then move you hands up and down a little.

  • flip at 3:00 is funniest

  • sculling is kind of like riding a bike in the water, of you're not moving forward, and you're not sitting still in the shell, you're gonna fall over

  • ...not if you know how to row

  • i said "kind of", i know its not the same thing

  • ohhhhh dear! they are just jumping out of the boat ha ha!they should be throwing the blades forward and letting go! and plus gettin back in like that could seriously damage the boat! (sax-board)

  • If this were realistic, the boats would capsize. Even the uber-stable beginner boats do it...

  • Skulling is easy u just to have to know twhnique :)

  • hah ive never sculled and i never want to

  • wat

  • to capsize you have to throw the blades as far out as you can

  • so cold.its scarier when you catch a crab and fall out because it fells like your falling for ages

  • This makes sculling look impossible
