Actually...the word that immediately comes mind is: Cheap. Unfortunately, the Phillies were cursed with a LONG string of cheap owners who refused to put the best team they could on the field. Unlike, say...the Spanks.
Well, I'm pretty sure that they did pay a Hefty Price when they brought Pete Rose in 1979. Do you think that anyone of a Pete Rose caliber would come in cheap? And I'm sure that they have always kept Mike Schmidt happy.
Pete Rose was the key to the 1980 World Championship.
Whoever owned the Phillies back in the late 70's really knew what he(she) was doing, in putting together a Championship Caliber club.
It's just a shame though that those Phillies back in the late 70's would fall short to the Dodgers.
Well, I know that Dallas Green did not come cheap to the Phillies, not with his Baseball Intelligence. And what about Steve Carlton?
I'm sure that the Phillies owners were not always cheap back then. Now? I can see Poor Ownnership, considering that they are not trying to advance the Team to a New Level, after winning the NL East.
I agree. I haven't been very happy with the Phils' off-season thus far. I actually hoped that being in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years(!) would've given the cheapo owners the motivation needed to open up the purse strings a little. Okay, so maybe Johan Santana may be a *little* out of their price range, but come on...
Believe me, I have kept "An Eagle Eye" on this Off-Season, and so far, the Phillies have not done anything Earth Shaking so far.
Seriously, you now have a strong contender for the Playoffs. Start digging deep into your Wallets, and do something right for a change! OPEN UP YOUR CHECK BOOKS!! HOW HARD IS IT TO COMPREHEND?!
It just seems like the Phillies are just not that serious in returning to the Playoffs.
Don't be mistaken; J-Roll and company are dead serious in returning to the playoffs - and getting past the first round. The knuckleheaded owners are a different story...
I hope that you're right. Maybe, the Phillies will go deeper in the playoffs in 2008. But, just remember this. Last year, the Mets choked away the Division. Next year they may not do so. That is something Phillies Management has to keep in mind, in trying to advance the Team.
No...just makes this year's trip to the playoffs even sweeter. Knock the Phils all you want, but you can't deny that this Phillies team has character and heart.
I sat in section 309, Man, it was exciting seeing us get 10,000all the tears shed all the pain and only one championship! Amxing What has it been 125 years, watch when other teams get to 10,000 we will be rubbing it in, and when we have it we celebrate, thats just us Phillie phans!

Only 1 World Series Championship in 125 years?
Only one word comes to mind: Pathetic!

I saw your first sign (10,000 is not in the Cards), but not the other. How about that...you made the national news! :-D
swordlady72 4 years ago
I was in section 309 with my season tickets. I hung two signs if you saw them.
xcrunner4623 4 years ago
I normally sit in the 300 section too, but I floated around the stadium for most of this game. I didn't see your signs; what did they say?
swordlady72 4 years ago
are you in section 203?

Nope. I was in the field-level concourse.
