so good video- excellent . I left my car in the official service and they replaced both CV joints. My problem was pushing the break I listened and Felt the "click", more often in reverse gear movement. what could cause the damage? or why this piece could be damaged - what could be the reason why this problem presents? the car service engeneer told me "more probably the old quality of the piece". -- thank you again!
i have a knocking or deep clicking sound on the front passenger side under the car, it is a noise that cycles, and when i hit the breaks to slow down it disappears. the sound seems to occur around speeds of 15mph and below and specially in glide speed where there no gas pedal pressure is applied. i think the knocking sound is coming from the front axle around the right tire (passenger side). WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE???
I have someone the same kinda noise on my G35coupe but only makes it when i pin it in R or D,.. Thinking its the axle or drive train ? Or front struts slapping i dunno Any ideas ? ( Just bought it )
CV AXLE and U-JOINT are all the same thing. It contain bearing. If the Bearing rot or rust badly it will cause very bad whining and clicking noise when traveling at high speed and very hard vibration when braking at any stop sign going at 30 miles plus. My U-JOINT for my driveshaft (DRIVESHAFT IS BETWEEN THE TRANS AND REAR AXLE WHICH IS ON ALL TRUCKS AND SOME CARS). The bearing inside that is all gone and my trans is still not broken yet. But you still can drive on bad parts for awhile.
@MileyCyrus192 I have to correct you, a CV axle and a U joint are not the same thing. A CV (Constant Velocity) axle is what is seen in this video. A U joint is something entirely different that does the same thing. Otherwise you hit everything else square on the head.
the inner is always getting worn out faster than the outer boot and bearing. I had to change my CV Axle 10 times on the driver and 5 on the passenger.
@CORVAIRWILD seriously that many times on each side. My 1999 Gmc Envoy has too much torque. But main reason always is: don't drive hard and you won't be hearing clicking noise or whining noise on any part that move on the vehicle. I street race with my Envoy and that why the inner get busted a lot only on the driver sometime on the passenger.
@CORVAIRWILD Yes I really race my Envoy in 2008 when it was the best year were no police was on the streets a lot. I have a stock Vortec 4.3L V-6. I have a K&N Air Intake and stock everything else. Spark Plug is Denso, I might get the Dnyomax Exhaust System for 174.99 it was 168.99. In 2008 when I drove my truck with the intake it cause so much power that the muffler got twisted inside and out. It look like I hit something but my engine twisted my stock dealer muffler for $320.
@CORVAIRWILD When I saw the price of the aftermarket muffler this year I was so mad because I could of save almost half price on a aftermarket one instead of buying from the dealer. My truck I also paint it myself. Where it has those chrome add on to the door I paint it all yellow. The Envoy is stock body color with yellow detailing all around the outside and red exhaust tip. I also know that I need new U-Joint because that what turn the front transmission to the rear axle.
Hey i took my axle off and i noticed that theres a little play in it. I know that it is a sign of the axle going bad but the play is VERY little. How long would it take for an axle to go from this state to a really bad state like yours? Wheres a good place to buy axles? Junk yards?
@bseriest It takes a few thousand miles. It depends how much grease leaks out, and how much dust/sand gets in. A junkyard may have it, but they come from China now, so they're cheap. who knows how good??
My car clicks when I turn the wheel and back up (like when Im trying to park in a space) Also when im braking, I hear a "whur whur" sound, I recently changed both front rotors
@DJEddieXZ that sounds like me. i have had 1 bearing go out on me of different brands with in 4 months. i know installed an original oem part. but after seeing this vid...i think im in for more expensive repairs!!!
I took mine to mechanic quoted me 1500 price to fix my entire front end but still didnt know what the sound was from. My husband came home drove it once said it was coming from the back. Took the rear tire off and previous tire installation from sams club had not tightened thelug nuts. They were hot and fell off in his hand. So thats what my noice was.
@ suckleh0nny hola yo tengo El mismo Problema de Cuando un giro la izquierda , Suena El mecanico Cambio Las puntas de Los EJES y Las puntas Otras Que Entran en La Caja de Cambios Pero El Sonido Sigue me pueden Ayudar Por Favor Mi vehiculo es Chevrolet Steem 98
I had this problem with my 96 Bonneville I replaced both CV joints because they were only 69 each brand new. They were easy as shit to replace. I had a shimmy that would go away when I would accelerate and then come back when I let off the gas.
When I turn left my right front wheel is making a wobbly/scrapping noise. It all started after my plastic whee well liner fell off and got ripped off by the tire on the highway. This noise isn't effecting handling or anything. Just a noise
it will eventually effect handling, when your wheel falls off doing 70 mph down the interstate....If it hasnt already, take your car in for inspection...neglecting it can get you killed.
I found out what the problem was. On my Honda there is a thin metal rotar guard. It just got bent slightly, rubbing against the rotar when I turned. I just bent it back with my hands and that fixed he problem.
@TiredOldFart I do have a honda. I said my Rotar Guard became slightly bent and was slightly scraping against the Rotor when I turned. I straightened the Guard which fixed the problem.
I just got done changing my axels. The right one was easy to get out, but the left one...it took 8 people to try to get it out and 3 days. Finally got it out today!. The transmission was molded around 75% of the axel base }: ( Talk about a pain in the arse! We almost had given up but a Cat's-paw claw bar did the trick : D
When your hearing clicking when turning that's your outer bearings and vibration means its inner. I had the vibration and found that one of the inner bearings were rusty...
Got my axle installed with help rental puller tool knock knock knock and came out. Rockauto has the hookup $50 for a better made NEW cv or Toyota dealer $400 lol forget the dealer
My 2003 corolla has issues. Pepboys says the cvs fine lol. I turn the axle it makes knock knock . I get vibrations on freeway!!!! Going over certain roads. Nope not the bearings. Just ordered new cv hope this is it
hey i get vibrations while on the highway also and when i accelerate from a stop i hear a pop by the driver side wheel...do you think its the same problem ?
