  • Take a look at mine please

  • How come this isn't on the broadway recording?!

  • This is beautiful!!! I just recieved the role of Belle for my high school and now I'm doing some research. I love your facial expressions and movements. I've watched some videos where there was hardly any movement, and I prefer what you did here. Your voice is very nice, even if you were sick, way to sing through it!!!

  • I just listened to Susan Egan sing this so it's kinda a come down lol although I've never heard a live version of this song.....I'm noticed you hit high notes quite lovely but like mentioned you do have a tad bit of strained vowels

  • we just did this musical at our school and the music director cut this out cuz she didnt like it!I WAS SO MAD!!!!! this is my favorite song! great job by the way!

  • I hope my advice helps you along in the future, my choir teacher told me the same thing and I have become a completely different musician over all because of him, hope it does the same for you. Never stop singing!!! :)

-sorry this message is so long.

  • @kawaipianos Absolutely! Thanks so much for the constructive critique. This video is old, but the strain is definitely STILL a problem I've been trying to work on. I - sadly - don't sing as much anymore, but I am looking for a voice teacher again.

  • @nekoexcel Great! you have a great voice, keep it up! =)

  • You have a very nice voice and a lot of potential, which is why i want to give you some constructive criticism. There were a couple spots, 1:50-2:05, on "And I-- I never thought I'd leave behind My childhood dreams but I don't mind" the vowels sound more strained because you have more tension in your throat. An easy fix to that relax the muscles in your throat and when you take a breath, deep, low breathes and focus on flewing your abdominals not only in the stomach, but in your back too.

  • its a shame that you were sick, i thought tat you sounded pretty amazing before i found out that you were sick during this show. very talented. my school is currently putting on beauty and the beast and i was second for belle!! disapointed that i didnt get it obviously but congrats to you. you sound amazing :)

  • Wow... Just... Wow, i think that my ears can die happily, i mean, this is perhaps the greatest singing voice i've heard... Well, ever, to be honest.

    Keep up the good work.

  • so.... what part of the show is this song in? after the beast lets her go?

  • @jsininger Yes, it's between "If I Can't Have Her" (reprise) and "The Mob Song". The Beast let's Belle go when she see's her father in the mirror, lost in the forest. The next scene, Belle and Maurice are together after she finds him and this is when she sings this song. This rendition is very good for a young singer but the best I've ever heard was uploaded by tiggerbytail.

  • I don't know what that other poster was talking about - your voice is very beautiful, even if you were sick. It's hard to sing when sick. I'm directing Beauty and the Beast which is how I found your videos. You are amazing

  • That is really good. Especially for being sick!!

  • I didnt even know you were sick until I read the comments. You were awesome!

  • oh...that hat

  • ive finally been cast as belle n i love this song :) xxx

  • Dude! wats with the pirate hat? i dnt get it. And why did you staccato "heart" so much? yeah not the wisest choice. other than tht great job tho!

  • The costume designer went with a french baroque esque look for costuming. The tricorn hat was popular in the 17th and 18th century among everyone. Not just pirates. ;-)

  • Flipping heck you did well for a sick person.

You have a great voice and really good control.

    X's

  • wow i would like to here u on a good day... if that is u sick u must be a Amazing!!!!

  • wow ur cool

  • Why is Maurice a pirate

  • yeah, right? i was wondering the same thing! wtf?

  • I love this song...i was in beast, greatest time of my life :]

  • this is absolutley amazing!!! you have a real talent!

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it was pretty good for someone sick. Did you have an understudy that could have filled in?

  • job well done...

it's a dream of mine to play belle...

to others... this song was added for Toni Braxton when she did Belle. i'm not sure on the exact date.

  • your not the only one, I dream to play Belle but I m never perfect enough for the part.

  • Don't say that! NO ONE is perfect, not even Belle. If it's your dream to play Belle, then you work for it and show everyone how great a Belle you can be!!!

  • everytime i try to play i get close..but not yet close enough. the last time i made it to the final audition final too...the other girl got it cause she had brown hair and im blonde o.0 i know eventually one day hopefully i might get the chance! thanks for teh support ^^

  • No problem! And hey, if the other girl only got it because she was brunette, then obviously your casting director is the one with issues (no offense to him/her lol)

  • im thinking of it was her problems...i mean we were both sopranos and could recite it word to word the lines that is. everyone thought i was gonna get it...but the director announced her beacuase of her hair color and she didnt belive in wigs or a blonde belle lol. so they gave me one of the girls who had a crush on gaston and i played the wardrobe

  • what! Oh man I feel bad for you! Your hair color shouldn't have counted! I mean you could've worn a wig right!

    You' ll get your chance!

  • Better than Broadway!

  • give her a break she was sick.

  • You remind me of Susan Egan

  • you were sick!!??

wow, i have to say it does not show what-so-ever!

    i love this song

    i'm soon potraying belle,

i hope i can do a decent job,

    after seeing this, i don't think i could =D

  • i think this is an amazing song

and you did a wonderful job

i can only imagine what you sound like when your feeling well!

    :)

  • if you were sick how good are you when you're well :O O.O

  • I think sang this song beautifully. It's hard to believe that you weren't feeling well that night.

  • good. connect ur words more and dont be so flat. otherwise it was great. im not trying to bring u down. just contrustive critism

  • great song....

  • just curious but is this before or after the mob scene?

  • Before.

  • this is awesome! great job!

  • Love it. It's one of my favorite versions. Not many Belles can hit the C in chest, soo everyone can stop being rude. :)

  • dont listen to the other people who say you sounded bad, they're dumb. it sounds really good! especially if you were sick :]

  • I really like your belting voice, please keep it up!

  • I bet when you aren't sick you have beautiful vibrato. Even still, this is an amazing job.

  • well I've discovered there's usually something wrong with people who choose to flame others on the Internet. Remember, you get what you put out in the world. Maybe one day you'll grow up and realize that negativity and hateful words get you nowhere. Until then, good luck. God bless.

  • Dont listen to this person! they obviously dont know good singing when they here it! i wish i sounded this good when i was sick! good job!

  • you do know she was ill, right?

  • I'm sorry you feel so badly about yourself that you have to bash people on the internet.

  • Actaully she did amazing. And that was a horribly composed sentence. You sound illiterate.

  • remember to stand up straight!! amazing job!

  • i love your first "and IIIIIIIII"

    beautiful voice!!

  • Wow!! You're amazing! My theatre is doing "Beauty" and I wanted to know if "A Change in Me" was included in the version. I know that this song wasn't included until Toni Braxton came along. I'm assuming this version is liscenced from Music Theatre Interantional.

  • yes it is don't worry it's in the script that is distributed by MTI i did it in my senior year of high school...

  • thank you so much!!! good luck with all of your theatre adventures!! you'll do great no doubt!

  • wow thanks it's not very often you encounter some one on a message boredlike this, that nice

  • may i ask where this was recorded? i can't believe you were sick when you did this, amazing! x

  • you were sick you say???? well I can't imagine how good your voice is when you aren't sick....you sing this song BEAUTIFUL!!!! I'm from holland so if the words I use aren't correct than sorry for that

    xxxx KEEP ON SINGING

  • Two questions; just curious:

1> How was the video allowed? Most Broadway venues don't like video recording equipment.

2> When does this song take place in the musical? I saw this with Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Belle, and I don't recall this in the show, nor is it on the Broadway soundtrack.

Other than that, love your channel. ;)

  • To answer your questions:

    1) this wasn't broadway. :-)

    2) this song was added to the show when Toni Braxton played belle (the only good thing to come out of that period of time for the show) and Jamie-Lynn was pre-toni braxton. That's also why it's not on the cast recording.

  • "only good thing to come out of that period"? huh? I'm confused. Was Toni Braxton bad or something?

    ~Ash was here

  • In my opinion, terribly so. that and the costume changes they made for her were dumb. The blue dress was SO short, and at the end she came out in a yellow midrif bearing dress that looked like stuff people wore to my prom. She has a lovely voice, but she's not the best actress.

  • Toni Braxton did the show from late 1998 to early 1999. Jamie Lynn Sigler did it from late 2002 to early 2003. Perhaps when DISnut saw the show the orchestra couldn't perform it that night. There's also a video on broadwayworld's website that was a tribute to the Broadway production and Jamie-Lynn Sigler was singing "A Change in Me."

  • Then maybe she/he just doesn't remember it being in the show since it's not on the cast recording. Thanks for the info!

  • Jamie-Lyn Sigler did the show four years after Toni Braxton. There's also a video on broadwayworld's website that was a tribute to the Broadway production and there's a brief moment when Jamie Lynn Sigler performed this song. Perhaps when you saw the show, the orchestra couldn't perform it that night.

  • I'm curious as to why you suggest that the orchestra might not be able to perform it that night. Has that happened in your experience with Broadway shows before? I would be surprised if it were the case with this song, since it's nowhere near the most challenging number in the show. I don't mean to be a skeptic, I'm just wondering what prompted your suggestion.

  • I think that person just forgot that Jamie-Lynn Sigler sang it. I know that they had the song in the show when she was part of the cast. I don't know how that came up in my mind.

  • okay.. first of all.. you are not using too much vibrato...so dont listen to the rest of them. c'est bien! :o)

  • Wow, bravo! So many people go with a mix or head voice for this song.. you belted it all. Bravo!

  • I have another suggestion! I really love your voice, but try singing with less vibrato! :)

  • there's not much vibrato here... Less than I probably should have, but was asked to sing it straight toned by the vocal director.

  • What the hell are you talking about? She has almost no vibrato through the entire song. Do you even know what vibrato is?

A very good performance, especially as you were sick. Your acting pulled you through. Thumbs up.

  • Don't take this the wrong way, but after listening to some of the videos of BATB, I can just barely tell you are sick. Not a lot but barely

  • I wish I was this awesome when I was sick! If you hadn't mentioned you were sick, I would have thought that was just your singing style. Amazing job, really.

  • You can barely tell you where sick!

  • Yeah I agree with hisgracesaves19

  • I love your voice. May I have it? *laughs*

  • This is absolutely beautiful. You have a gorgeous voice! I'm so jealous!

  • I love this...I think you're awesome.

    xx

  • I like your lower parts.

  • i think that you performed very well since you were unwell!!!! well done!!!! :)

  • i did this song for an audition and have been working on it in voice lessons for awhile. a little off [understandable with your illness] but still quite good.

  • really good but sometimess you cute your words off but still really good singing voice.

  • Amazing. This is very good.

  • this is amazing, and i dont see how u were sick because people dont have these voices when they are well

how old are you? u did an ausome job

  • really good acting, but the vibrato is too close together.. but i really liked it

  • Yeah, but I was really sick, too. At this point in the show, it was a battle to keep my voice. lol If you listen to the finale, you can hear my voice just die. lol

  • You played as Belle?

  • WOW

  • awesome job, but why is Maurice wearing a pirate hat?

  • Because our costumer tried to costume the show in relatively period clothes. The three quarter hats were worn by lots of men for riding/outdoor wear, not just pirates. They've just been more associated in pop culture to pirates.

  • plus that type of hat was common in france

  • You're the same person I talked to about Anneliese Van der Pol right? If so, I'm glad I got to hear you sing this! You were wonderful. that's my favorite song in the whole show.

  • Yup. That's me. :-)

  • Well congratulations to you. You ngot to play my dream role! :)

  • Well I've heard this song everyday for the past month or two and everytime it's still great. Good job.

  • You have a really good voice and are beautiful.

    God Bless!

  • You are AMAZING! Such a little HOTTIE!

  • you really cannot tell you sick

  • omg, it sucks that you were sick, but you did an amazing job anyway. this song is a hard song to sing

  • I think home is a little harder... but that may be because I didn't like that song as much as this one. Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!!

  • When i'm sick and i sing i definetly sound like a man.

    haha

    You still sound wonderful!

  • My goodness, you were sick? You were wonderful! Amazing job.

  • Excellent voice! I envy you (in a good sense obviously!!) singing and acting all at once...I mean, WOW!!! haha...keep up the good work, congratulations to all the "crew"

  • Oh my Madonna! You did such a good job for being dear. I went to go see it recently in New York, March 28th. Deborah Lew was Belle i believe. You topped her. Really good job. Sad the show is closing in July though for god knows how long for the Litte Mermaid. wth. Anyway, Great Job. = )!! <3!

  • Hey, maybe we all get lucky and in about ten years they close something else for the BatB platnuim revival. heh.

  • yay! good for pulling through and doing fantastic! you are a fantastic belle!

  • If you can do this while suffering a cold and not sound sick...man. Oh, tip: Airborne REALLY helps. I have really bad allergies and the like and it really works. FYI for the next time you have to perform and you have a cold (though that will be hopefully never.)

  • lol Oh yeah. I was GUZZLING Airborne like it was my job. That an da concoction of half water, half apple cider vinnegar and honey.

  • oh, gross....poor dear.

  • Wow, where was this performed? You sang very well for being sick. Just how much of Disney's shtuff are you supposed to use to perform Beauty and the Beast? (That's what I heard, anyway.)

  • This was in Indianapolis. What do you mean by "how much of Disney's stuff"? Some productions copy the broadway production a lot, but you don't have to. In fact, to copy the production you have to pay extra, I think.... but I'm not sure. lol

  • Ah. I was told (come to think of it, from an unreliable source) that Disney requires you to use their backdrops and costumes.

    Either way, great job.

  • good job. i love this song.

  • You were very good! I'm Belle in my production of Beauty and the Beast too, I will have to post a few clips of mine. Do you know where I could get a soundtrack of the musical with minus tracks so I can practice without the orchestra? I can't find one on Itunes, unfortunately. :(

  • i only found about 2 notes were they got werent normal but overall wonderful if you didnt say you were sick i would not have noticed honestly

  • :-) Aw... Thanks!

  • wooot awesomeness on the song. congrats!!! ^_^

  • Well done!! I love this song! I sang this song for my exame in 2006, and that was my first time to sing in front of other people, so it will always mean much to me :D Good voice!!

  • Wow this is great! I have watched some of the other clips you have on here and I absolutly LOVE your acting and your singing is wonderful! im playing belle in my school play and this song scares the crap out of me haha im not that strong of a singer so we will have to see how it goes hah! but this is great! good job! I hope I can do half a good a job as you did:)

  • The best advice I can give is find the truth in the words. What changes have you gone through/growth have you had recently that really connects you to the song? Don't push the belting. If you do it in a mix/head voice that's perfectly alright! But don't feel that you HAVE to belt the C if you aren't comfortable.

  • This is my favorite song in the whole production. There are some "Belle's" sing it better than others. You sound incredible.

  • Thanks so much. This song means SO much to me; it's my favorite. I almost cried singing it the last time, and Maurice cried a few times during the run. :-) I love this song because the things that Belle says in it are so true to me right now. My other favorite song was Beast's "If I Can't Love Her."

  • I'm sorry, did you say you were sick? That did not in any way show any signs of sickness. Now the Belle from my show worked herself into a sickness. She got so nervous and upset that she messed herself up so bad. She sounded terribly sick. You did not. You make a wonderful Belle. I'm off to watch more! =D

  • thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy the clips!

  • for future sickness singing...herbal tea and honey. It works wonders. Also drink LOTS of water. and the day of the show and during the show, ONLY WATER! and if you really need it during the show, that nifty throat spray stuff they have for sore throats. Vicks i think.

but you did a really awesome for being sick. ^_^ amazing job.

  • Thanks. I found that Half Water, Half Apple Cider Vinegar and some honey mixed in. Vicks has menthol in it which dries out the throat. The only reason I was able to make it through the show is all the water I had I backstage. lol :-) That and I stopped talking and slept while I wasn't at the theatre.

  • You have a beautiful voice!!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • You sound amazing, Whitney!

  • You were NOT sick! =] You sound beautiful

  • I never would have guessed you were sick! You sound beautiful!
