near the end he talks about how robots lack the passion to win. i guess u culd say the same thing about professional footballers today, well, british football players anyway. they get paid way too much wether they win or loose, at least the robots hav the excuse of... you know... being robots.
@mcdudly00 But there is one huge part that you are missing. As the world goes towards becoming better and better to live in, less wars will happen. Really, just look at Europe. After WW2 there has been extremely calm here, all because we live so good.
Our lives will probably be so good that we wont care for wars.
@madichelp0 yes.. and i admire the way you think.. bug.. no body wanted wars except for the leaders who dont do any of the dying.. people never "needed" wars .. just greedy bastards who throw sparks after filling people with gas.. like america and iraq for example.. if american solders knew that there fighting normal people and not "terrorists" they would have never went there.. but they hate them because of a lie... and robots.. well they wont need any convincing.. u get the point right?
This soccer A.I is still based on rules and conditions. it might have randomness factor based on odds (XX% what is best way to play or XX% to do something) but it doesnt make the A.I think completely by it self... it's about what team builds it better... the rules = what to do based on when to do. this happens a lot in pc games. also I find out in the vid that goalkeeper reacts only when the football is moving... this means it cannot predict where the football goes.
Ok, yeah... That won't happen. The amount of money, effort and labour that would be needed to achieve winning a soccermatch against the world cup champions with robots within 50 years, is just totally unrealistic. Not to mention computing power. To quote Professor Michio Kaku; "Our most advanced comuters and robots of today operates at the level of a lobotomized, retarded cockroatch." I for one believe him. Just look at Windows Vista (hurr hurr). But seriously, I have no faith in that happening
this is just as stupid as watching people play the game i hope we realize that. sorry people laugh all you want at the robots cause you look just as stupid
The one thing that always bothered me with "BattleBots" and "Robot Wars" and the like is that those machines out there shredding each other with saw blades and such ARE NOT ROBOTS. They are remote-controlled vehicles.
THESE are robots. No, you don't have the flying sparks and stuff getting bashed and bursting into flame, but they ARE robots, and I'd like to see more.
Yep. Don't get me wrong; I've enjoyed BattleBots and such. But they aren't robots.
Somebody should start a robot fighting league that uses real robots. They probably weren't sophisticated enough for that even five years ago, but I think it would work now.
its like one mind one vision aahhhhhhhh!! skynet, shut it off shut it off... to late skynet infiltrated all computers worldwide. BTW when we get kwantum computers it will be: THE END
What those robots lack is refinement. For example another robot cannot predict much if other robot just comes and fires the ball. Humans have more motion, legwork and such so you can try to predict what is going to happen. Also those robots are more like bricks, not like human players, so it seems like bricks playing, too. Also if robots had like limited amount of energy to spend, they could try to preserve some or go full speed at times.
Lack of passion? They play the same the last minute as the first minute?
That's a good thing. The robots give their all the entire game. What more can you ask for? Passion is just the drive to succeed. That can drive to win can be programmed into a robot, and the distractions a person would face can be easily ignored by a robot.
srry i ran out of words.. and we will be pushing them to do newer and newr stuff and soon they will be programing the robots but it will never be perfect we will still need to oversee the work they do
becasue if they make a mistake and start makeing evil robots we have to shut them down befor they are evne programed
if you have read all this and my other comment below you are a trooper :D
Yes what a groundless assertion. It is said that in only a decade computers will rival the human brain in raw processing power. Will we be better then, touchdumb0?
no really diggity because think of the cavemen... they did not know how to make a arrow very well and as we progress the robots progress and som of these robots are doing what people in the 1600s could not even think of and now we are saying well they can make this and do that thats not we shoudl focus on we shoudl focus what can they do no what can they do that we can to...
its like anything i do you must do better game and that will never ever end because the things to do get old one sec
my prediction that technology would be developing even faster than it did in the past 30 years. More than that, i truly believe that robot soccer team will beat humans in the future (around 40-50 years from now) same as chess champ kasparov was defeated by comp 10 years ago.
He was defeated but he claimed the computer cheated...why? Because of the computer's ability to analyse all possible moves and then picking the best move. That's not cheating just because a human can't do that.
i agree with u but i'd like to add to that, robots will be trillions of smarter than human,,,and imagine what they will invent for the convenience of humans,,,i think it is beyond our imaginations

perhaps with that link process of many robot minds being connected could be the solution of allowing robots to see the world on 3d as we do.
