I lived in Masr-ig-Giddida (New Egypt or Heliopolis) back in the early 1980's when I was a student at AUC. Things don't seem to have changed and some things never will. I was a single American woman living in a flat by myself (AUC did not have dorms at the time) and it was always an adventure, including the fact that I lived next to a construction site and there were cat sized rats coming in thru my windows. You learn real quick to say "Fii farr fil matbax" ("there is a rat in the kitchen")
aha i sent you a request. oh england really, i have been in manchester, liverpool and london before, its pretty nice, guess you cant compare england to egypt huh haha well .. my friends say cairo is pretty nice but from what videos i have seen... i tend to think otherwise now... looks very bloody busy and congested.. how are the people there?
oh you live there? tell me how its like.. life in egypt.. especially in heliopolis, is where all the middle class of cairo lives no? how are the buildings? yeah it looks crazy.. its similar to how trafic is in india i think lol
Coming from England I have living in Egypt mindblowing! Heliopolis does have the tag of being middle-class but Egyptian middle class is not the same as the british type. But everyday there is something surprising to see and life never gets boring. If you are on Facebook you can check my pictorial aaccounts of life in Heliopolis (very funny) just check for my user name 'eddie gold' and send me a friend request.
This is Heliopolis and this sort of thing is so common I am amazed that no one gets killed. I have been here a year and still can't get my head around the Egyptian transport system... in fact I would say there is no system, just a free for all...but it does make life interesting, lol.

@SpanishGuy18 What do you mean "how are the people there?" They are like all other humans. How do you think they are?
