  • Yeah, when I was a kid my brothers used to tell me that the angels were vacuuming heaven with their kirby's!

  • Hey mark your calendars guys--March 8, 2011 (weather permitting) 1:30pm

    Kansas Statewide Tornado Drill.

I am going to try my best to get a good video recording of the tbolt near my house. Haven't been able to do so the last couple years due to weather not cooperating and my camera having "issues".

  • god, that thunderbolt sounds so healthy, 2 bad its gone

  • @amtrak3501 Nothing screams TORNADO like the almighty thunderbolt 1000T!

  • @snootzie78 you got that right :)

  • Great 1000T!All the sirens in Medina Co,OH are being replaced with FS 2001s.Waynes are almost all FS 2001s.Erie replaced all their thunderbolts and Other sirens with FS 2001s and a Model 2

  • They've gotta bring back the thunderbolts.

  • So are there any Thunderbolts left in Shawnee, Lenexa or Overland Park now?

  • Finally! A 1000T! They used to litter Overland Park but now 2001's litter OP.

  • @fordrallyesportfan

    This 1000T is long gone

  • @silver2002ta RIP

  • There are two Thunderbolts in Merriam, but only one appears to be active. (being less than 4 blocks from each other might mean the inactive one might be a backup)

There's also an SD-10 in a rail yard just outside Merriam. Given the condition it was in when I found it, I doubt it still works.

  • That's kind of with Wichita. They're replacing most or all of their sirens (Tbolts) by the end of this year or 2012 if I recall. Sad!

  • There are still a few Thunderbolts in Kansas in my hometown.

  • Another Thunderbolt falls to yet another 2001. Damn! Was it broken?

  • yeah, its bullshit

  • no. it was not efficient . the new 2001s have solar panels, so they are not wasting money. so Lenexa is happy but I'm not.

  • Do you know what became of this Thunderbolt?

  • @twotailedavenger I Had ask Lenexa, But they had no Clue, and they wood not talk to me about it, even City hall.

  • @twotailedavenger Probably a sign of the times. They have to upgrade like all other federal signal requirements and all.

  • I live near Lenexa... where was that Thunderbolt? I want to bring my HD camcorder and get a video of it!

  • Why didn't you show the siren while the siren was going

  • Because it sounds better from a distance maybe? I don't know if that was his reasoning, but it sure is the truth!

  • I'm pretty sure it's because of the fact that it's near a school (notice the "school zone" speed limit sign right before the siren), so he didn't want to get into trouble by someone who might have thought he was videotaping the school.

  • Thats the best Thunderbolt 1000T audio ive ever heard.

  • @crazywarriorman Sounds kind of like the ones in Salina, Kansas. Love the roar of those tbolts!

  • wow this is the first time i have heard a Thunderbolt 1000T go for two Alerts and one Attack and by the way i am a big fan of these Thunderbolt 1000Ts

  • Even though it isn't a video, it was a kick-*** audio recording!

  • Great video! :)

  • Awesome video of the Thunderbolt 1000T going off.

  • That sure is one excellent sounding Thunderbolt 1000T siren. That would be chopper level 5 running on 240 Volts I believe. Go Thunderbolts!

  • level 7 is 240 volts, level 5 is 180

  • 240 volts on the primary and 180 on the secondary...
