A spoiled old man???? Did you see a Kings Speech? ??? Let me educate you! This "old man" struggled in shame his entire life with a debilitating stammer in an era where "disabilities" were hidden and not accepted. Even worse he was forced into the role of king because of his brothers abdication. Imagine being the leader of an empire at the cusp of WWII and an entire country turning to you for words of comfort! What Aron Ralston went through was horrific & courageous but not entertainment!

I am a certified developmental disabilities nurse and my father a victim of polio. I never try to walk in someone elses shoes. Of course there is always something worse, I see it every day. @sneezie24 don't get me wrong it is a very good movie and Firth was excellent in it my point is both The Kings Speech and 127 hours are true biographies of real peoples stories, which story is more deserving of a OSCAR do you think when the real Aron Ralston was stuck in that canyon recording a goodbye message to his parents and sister dying of starvation thurst and hypothermia forces to drink his own piss he thought to himself "well at least i don't have a stutter like that poor king"

Once again, dying, starving to death and drinking your own "piss" is not what should be valued as entertainment. It is comparable to rubbernecking as you drive by a horrific accident. James Franco did an incredible job but overall in my opinion (and only my opinion) The Kings Speech had all the elements of an worthy Oscar win and 127 Hours had only the tragic shock factor.

I don't understand why there should be a distinction/rivalry concerning the nationality of actors. The attribute of being a greatly talented actor should be the only one considered and publically recognized and rewarded. Colin Firth was awarded the Oscar [in America] because he deserved it (no matter his country of origin). Perhaps instead of “keeping score” based upon different ethnic groups, we should all just appreciate each other’s individual talents as human beings.
