I don't think people should cheat on their taxes. Rather, people just shouldn't do involuntary clerical work for the state, like filing paperwork they don't want to (ie, they should resist "involuntary servitude").
She called everyone a criminal that fails to pay property tax? Is that how Penn. views everyone that lives there? Not as am American citizen, but as a potential criminal that needs to be watched and talked to like a criminal? Damn glad I don't live there.
The fact is, ALL STATIST SOCIETIES are the same way. As long as there are laws forcing people to "pay up", that is essentially what is going on. The only thing unique about Penn. is that they've actually said it out loud on the air.
Are there any PA lawyers out there that can bring a class action lawsuit against PA for this? This ad is unethical, and frightening enough to cause illness in people.
PA is now tacking notices on doors one year in advance stating, "we will sell your home without your consent". Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
I can't believe that people who refuse to be stolen from--and let's be completely honest; taxes are THEFT--are labeled the criminals. Absolutely Orwellian, praying on the ignorance of a dumbed-down populace. You don't "owe" them a thing!
HAHA fat government workers, great idea. Do you know the crime rates in Philly/ Pitt? I wouldnt try to intimidate them, because they will "find you" before you find them. Hilarious that they think they scare anybody.
Only in PA! Visit any small town in PA and you'll get a taste of the abuse of power by local officials there. They seem to think it's their birthright. And in all seriousness, PA probably has the highest number of people with German ancestory than any state in the Union. It makes one wonder if there's a genetic link with the same unquestioning fear and respect for corrupt authority that created Nazi Germany. Shame on you PA!
I get a kick out of this garbage. These rotten politicians have been lining their pockets for years. When they retire they live in the lap of luxury. We pay bridge tolls ,turn pike tolls and other taxes to pay for highways and schools. When you put money in the bank you pay a tax, when you purchase something you pay a tax. However the schools stink, our infrastructure is falling apart and the income tax keeps going up.Then they have the guts to call us criminals.
i just looked at the website there is not much info on it and i realized that they are actually letting people benefit by paying in this time period but why the creepy ad? like seriously "pennsylvania will go after tax scoff laws, in a very big way" O.o
"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse" is not a benevolent act if it is backed up by the threat of violence. THAT is why the ad was "creepy" -- to make sure you KNOW that violence can and will be used against you.
"you mooch"... wow. Mooch? I guess if you bought your property, paid your utilities, bought your car, paid sales taxes ect., you OWE the state the fruits of your labor or you're a criminal.
No, the average taxpayer who owes taxes is NOT a criminal. THE RICH FAT PIGS who made it so we have to pay so much taxes to support their 'have-a-thousand-times-more-than-they-need' lifestyles ARE the criminals.
FUCK PENNSYLVANIA AND FUCK BIG GOVERNMENT! I am glad I don't live in PA because I will get straight GANGSTA on the Tax Police. Fuck the Gustapo. First it's the Census takers and now it's the IRS?!?!?!?! Let's get back to the CONSTITUTION folks. The Income tax is ILLEGAL!
Interesting. When I go to that site, a warning from CheckPoint tells me that it is a suspicious web site and warns to leave now. It is marked as a malicious site. It's government, so it must be malicious.
Is there a way to establish that this radio ad was actually created by the Pa. Dept. of Revenue. I'm doing a TV show about this later today and will include it if it can be verified
yes. Go to the website they have, or contact the DEPT OF PA REV. I'm from Pittsburgh and this ad has been playing on radio stations for the past two weeks. I'm kind of irked that my tax dollars would go to make this bullshit.
Since you don't have any income, you approve of people who do being threatened with violence? This is "easy"? For the past 5 years, I've been "unemployed", as well. However, I do odd jobs for people when I have the opportunity. This has actually grown over 5 years to the point where I can pay for rent, bills, food, and spending money. Should I get my ass kicked if I don't give the government a chunk of my food and spending money?
Governments are mafias. They do whatever they want, and they use the citizens as pawns. The entire principle of governments works,by violence, and the IRS/Federal Reserve is its own government.
I'm not really sure what to think of this. On the one hand, I like having, like, roads and non-private police and fire services and social services and some kind of national defence and other shit. On the other hand, this ad is creepy and surreal.
I completely understand what you're saying. I like roads, police, and fire services, and lots of other services that the state provides. I'm just opposed to funding these services by threatening people with violence. I don't think it is ethical or necessary.
@Flyborg Dude it's all a scam you work till june paying taxes the roads and stuff are a fraction! We don't need 30-80 cops per town driven around in 39k mustaines driven up to a fender bender with 2 other cruisers, 2 fire trucks, 2 ambulances and get a bill after.. for 26k!
F- off Government scabs- FKn taxfeeders- WE ARE ALL BROKE! F- OFF!
Change the rules slash the budjets arrest politicians etc:
bottom line they are destroying your middle class life for theirs.
@lushfauna Yeah, I know a lot of the money is wasted, maybe more than half of it, maybe much more than half of it.. I'm just saying it's not a black and white issue. It's like saying "the airport is such a hassle, we should get rid of airplanes and just swim across the ocean". The problem is real, and admitting there's a problem is the first step to finding a solution, but the solution of "don't pay taxes" doesn't seem anymore practical than getting rid of airplanes, IMHO.
Interesting analogy. I'm not sure how it is applicable, however. If we were FORCED to pay for tickets, even if we didn't fly, then I could see it as apt. The "solution" to such a problem is not to get rid of the airport, but to make buying a ticket voluntary.
It's not the services the state provides that we are against - it is their violent, coercive method of fund raising rather than voluntary methods used by cooperatives, non-profits, charities, and entrepreneurs.
@somecomputergeek Indeed, I like your opt-in/out alternative. The only potential problem I could see is, what if almost everyone "opts out" of things like national defence, emergency services, etc, thinking "someone else will take care of it"? I'm open to the idea, but wouldn't this lead to a situation where the rich stay rich and in control of everything, and those born into poor families are just screwed? I normally think of taxes as the price you pay for being part of a society/country.
I think most people would agree with you. Using violent coercion is one method of avoiding "the tragedy of the commons", and there's no doubt about it - threatening people with violence is effective. However, is it necessary? Yes, there ARE problems to be solved and questions to be answered. But when the solution is violence and the answer comes in the form of threats and coercion against non-violent people, nothing has been really solved, and this non-answer stagnates progress.
@somecomputergeek this is to get people to no longer question the govt, and take the shit as it falls on their faces. this is to convince people that they cant be stopped,
I agree. It's like the mafia, only with a lot more guns. (a SUPER-mafia).
They get away with it because they give out a lot of bribes to a lot of people who depend on state violence, and they are very good at marketing (propaganda), and actually convince the vast majority of the people they extort money from of the benevolence and necessity of their violent coercion.
Good point. If the mafia could make laws, I'm sure they would allow exceptions for THEIR kind of extortion, kidnapping, assault, and murder, just as states do.
