I bought this one and just chopped his arm off with an exacto knife, then glued it in place so he could hold his rifle, did the same with the first unsc trooper pack and I'll probobly do the same to the support troopers.

If you dont want this marine Ill take him off your hands!

I think that the marines from reach were actually army troopers. That's why they always refer to them as troopers in the game. Still don't look that great though. Good review though.

That sad lack of arm articulation is the only thing that sucks about this figure, this is the only thing holding me back from collecting them, otherwise they look great, Mcfarlane really needs to correct this in the future, that arm articulation must be TOP priority if they decide to do marines again

I wonder,

-cost they save by using the same mold

-the number they sell with the old mold

-cost to make a new mold with arm articulation

-profit they will get selling the new articulated version

thinking of these, is it better (for sales) to make a new version or stay with the same mold? Do only collectors like me care about the arms? Are there that many people who cares about the arms?

The rifle fits firmly within the ODST figures hands, just like a spartan holding his rifle, and since the marine is made up of the same composition as the Jetpack ODST, he too will be able to hold the assault rifle within his hands. You may disagree with me, but it's true. The plastic never broke, nor was it bent after several days of remaining in a static statue. Why do you guys whine over something that the figure can do, just not as comfortably as you are accustomed to. The figure is great.

@RichhReviews Rich I can prove it to you if you like. I can send you pictures of my ODST figure holding the DMR and the Assault Rifle without modification. Sure you bend the plastic, but it doesn't break because it was made to withstand the pressure. Toys back in the day were made the same way. I know, it frustrates me as well that Mcfarlane cannot make our lives any easier, but like I said before, the ODST, the Marine, and all the troopers can hold their rifles perfectly without modification.

@M1179108 It's because there are two versions of this figure and the ODST figure, there's the variant that can't hold the rifle without modification and the other variant which has it's arms angled inward just enough so it can barely hold the rifle in both hands.

dude the figure sucks ass! any time in halo when you see a marine he's got some sort of rifle in his hands. if they are going to ship the figure with a rifle, he should prabably be able to hold it. every thing else on the figure is amazing. i think mcfarlane does the best paint jobs on there figures. but they should have corrected the problem, being that it started in series 1.

When I bought the ODST Jetpack Trooper, I wasn't bummed because of the elbow articulation. You want to know why? Mcfarlane purposely created those figures with soft plastic in order to position the DMR and the Assault Rifle in both hands, WHILE having his head look down the rifle sight. I doubt any of you have tried positioning the Assault Rifle accurately in both hands, perhaps because you are all afraid that the plastic might break but that is not the case. The character was designed that way.
