Captivating the senses, pushing them into their limits. This is the effect that the voice -the music -the photos had on me. Thanks for the whole achievement (and the correct frame that you set with your last photo). And my goodness the comments I read were so stimulating! I would love to ask you so many things about your childhood memories from this song, but of course I will not, just to maintain some fake decency. I adored this post.
This is false advertising...in these pictures the opium dens are full of beautiful women without clothes, whilst the many opium dens I've visited boasted only old Chinese guys who were (thankfully) fully dressed. Must have got the address wrong.
Opium was actually legal in the US until the early 1900s. It was restricted in 1909 and made illegal in 1914. In popular culture it was related to opioum dens in China Town. Users would lay on their hips on chaise lounges while using the drug. Drug users would secretly identify each other by saying "Are you hip?" much they way we say 420 friendly in today's culture. Some of these women seem pretty hip.
@oldtimecharlie I enjoyed your comment. Post an article in the net with your "memories", legends and facts of the n.american underwold back in the old times.
Another Gold-Wlast diamond. I have this version and Faliszewski's recorded. I like this one better if only because Faliszewski sings the refrain only (with these precious lyrics!?) This is a gripping tune and fascinating lyrics. Thanks G, and for the brilliant photos too, of all these users who are on cloud nine.
Genia, this song is dark and beguling. I remember my mother play it on the piano - to the notes decorated with (why?) Tola Mankiewiczówna's photo. It was a song of my childhood, indeed. And that thill, running along my spine, comes back even now, every time I hear it
Grzegorz - this upload is mind blowing. The frame 2:10 is expressive of big high which comes with Love - I agree with Barcard - however - the frame 2:33 is also awesome! Gold and Wlast were totally unsurpassed geniuses - I wonder if Wlast already was in love with Vera Bobrowska when he wrote this!! Five stars plus!!!
Hi Lana, see my answewr to Genia. This song has a special significance to me. It was one of the songs often played in my childhood home, although it t was, no doubt, "not for children"
Fabulously sexy. Great postcards, too!

Błach, pomyliłam się - tak raczej powinno być: "wchłaniam cię w zachwycie". :)

Darkly erotic with an undertone of the macabre and fearful. Image at 2:10 is particularly provocative. Do you know the name of the artist?

B., how is it possible, I never played it for you, on one of our Red Wine Nights in Poland? This song would have made a perfect match
