What is capitalism? It seems to have different meanings for different classes of people. To me, it's the ideal of a level and uninfluenced playing field for all businesses, both small and large, to compete upon.
To others, it's the present reality of government tax breaks, bailouts, lobbyists, and political contributions that seems to always favor consolidation. And might I add, inevitably falls upon the backs of the tax payers.
There is a distinction between capitalism and manipulation.
Even if they were "protecting" the press, that would be like the US government banning all press from war zones. The government doesn't have the right to "protect" the press. The press has the right to cover stories.
I hope that local unions in New York inform their members who are a part of Occupy Wallstreet to start buying from small businesses so they don't get crushed from the protesting. Most small businesses aren't part of the problems created by Wall Street.

Let's start with who was involved first with Occupy Wall Street (OWS), it was first launched by Adbusters a socialist propaganda magazine from Canada. Also, the same people that showed up at Zuccotti Park are the same radicals who show up at G20 protests.
That being said, what did they or do they want? It's a generation of people (Millenials) who were never spanked, got trophies even though their soccer team lost every game, and have basically lived a life devoid of consequences. Now, real life has consequences, school loans and mortgages have consequences, and deciding to go to an expensive liberal arts school only to study film for four years has left them with a pile of debt and no job prospects.
When OWS’s sticks to holding banks accountable that resounds with most of Americans such as illegal foreclosures, screwy mortgages, and bad decisions that have left us broke.

@coltor9 We need to mass boycott any corporation who fail to have good business ethics. As alternatives to products and services, we should do business with small companies and co-ops. I think co-ops (companies run by the employees w/ profits going to employees) are the answer. It seems as if really bad things happen when too much money gets into the hands of a very greedy 1%.

That being said, what did they or do they want? It's a generation of people (Millenials) who were never spanked, got trophies even though their soccer team lost every game, and have basically lived a life devoid of consequences. Now, real life has consequences, school loans and mortgages have consequences, and deciding to go to an expensive liberal arts school only to study film for four years has left them with a pile of debt and no job prospects.
