  • who cares about the video as long as you can hear Buckley's music...

  • This is Brad Pitt's favorite song.

  • Jeff left his mark not only with his music- not just his one completed album, but his unfinished work and his live performances - but also by the type of compassionate, caring person he was, by the way he affected so many people whom he met and who observed him at his performances.

  • true artist

  • Can't understand why Sketches has received a lukewarm press, comparing it unfavorably to Grace. True, Jeff never finished these songs, and one can argue the 2nd disc shouldn't have been included. But, what we have is quite impressive!

  • amazing song, but the Video is kind of Yucky.........

  • At the beggining you can easily see how Jeff influenced Thom Yorke

  • this song's actually called New Year's Prayer i'm pretty sure

  • I think by saying "Feel no shamefor what you are", he means being gay.

  • @roli369 so you have to be gay to be proud of who you are?

  • This is brilliant

  • from darien to megumi.

  • Anyone with bipolar could watch his interviews and read what friends have said and see it. If he even he told people he had it why wouldn't people believe him? A person with bipolar feels what everyone else does, just stronger, deeper and for a longer amount of time. The highs can cause accidental deaths by way of wrecklessness. Mood swings, up and down, two different "personalities" Surrounded by shame, it goes undiagnosed and lethal accidents "just happen." Oh yeah..it's hereditary..

  • ccxfv

  • I suppose my morbid curiosity has gotten the best of me, meanwhile Jeff's voice resonating in my head hypnotising me to ask the question "How did he really die?". Everyone has known about his drowning in the Mississippi River, but has anyone really looked any further into his passing? The facts truly point to innocence and greed, truth and lies, love and hate, angels and the devils who kill them.

  • @msmichelinariggy It was the Memphis River that he drowned in...

  • I would actually spend some to know him just to know how he was like behind his music, when you hear his music it sounds like he had many demons

  • A Master without peer...NO DOUBT!!!

  • this song and this viedo is so trippy

  • The Buckley's story is so tragic... first dad Tim in 1975, Then Jeff himself in '97. Both left way too young; at least Tim left us several albums- Jeff barely had time to even make a mark, yet he did with just one record.

  • @lordsardonicvids Well he left just one record, but he also left a lot, and I mean a lot of demos, that give us at least 8 or 9 cd's of his own. It took me ages to collect them.

I wonder why he went to swim in that river, by night, without even took out his boots?

  • @jay33jay It's sad he did that. I think he was on to one of the greatest albums of all time had he finished it. It would have made Grace look like just a preview. But the same thing that compelled him to take that swim was the same thing that drove his music, his love for the moment. On one level it was just foolish and rash, but on another it was the way he lived every moment of his life.

  • @jay33jay tbh, he prolly was murdered by the higher ups, but donno what reason it should be... yet :P

  • @jay33jay can you share your hard searching work with me ;p?

would love to hear all those demos...

  • @jay33jay I was wondering the same thing. And the fact that Jeff could sing like 30 seconds without taking his breath, drowning sounds suspicious and ironic!

  • @jay33jay he was damned

  • @jay33jay

from what i understand of him from listening to his music, swimming fully clothed in the river at night was exactly the sort of thing jeff buckley would do.

  • @lordsardonicvids theres two albums... Grace and Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk

  • @bfitzpatrick1 only one before dying, technically.

  • @bfitzpatrick1 don't forget live at sin-e'

  • @ledzeppelin4485 there are multiple live albums, bootlegs mostly... but jeff was even more-so a beautiful artist without studio fixes.

  • Wonderful, as always, Jeff.

  • totally agree with ecald12.....i just love it..

  • His mother had the 'sweetheart songs" completed!

  • @TheJameyb I guess they were sold to Sony.

  • @jay33jay yeah, and probably they'll come out after the release of his movie... good marketing

  • I love this song so much but i have a question. He hadn't recorded this song but how did this track get made? Is that mick, michael, and matt in the background or no?

  • that isn't jeff is it?

  • he lives and speaks through his music. it's so tragic that he was not able to give us more, but i'm always thankful for what he did give us.

  • deeply disturbing

  • Jeff has the no peer, no equal. Every time I listen to his songs, no matter how often I have heard them before, the man connects with me like no other artist!

  • @ecald12

It's true. He was so gifted in his songs and with otherartist songs (that he gave thar personal touch) with his guitar.

I think I listen to him everyday, I collect many of his demo songs and versions.

    He inspires me

  • fall in light.... (please).

  • Does anyone else feel like they're about to die whenever he says fall in light? oh god...

  • he is like no other artist. blows me away

  • Yes, he was great! Just great!

  • where did he record Sketches....? was it in his memphis home or a studio?

  • I'm not sure about here the recorded Sketches, I know the song were ready, but he used to record a lot of songs in his home studio. Those tapes exist and from time to time Sony "give" us a new song from those tapes.

    Thx for the comment

  • round around c.c miss him

  • :)

    :)

  • He said he doesn't care about being remembered.....just remember the music...remember his ART...live a life full of experience, in the current moment NOW....and each of us be true to ourselves and each other

  • @UniFiedRekorDz To live a life in the current moment (NOW) does not sound very fulfilling...

  • @carlito I feel ya, no diss man, but I think if all the people who really dig Buckley could do it they would don't you?

What I mean bro maybe he did that very thing for the people that you say freedom from the earthly chains that we are doomed to carry everyday. @ least he did alot for me in lightening the load.

  • @nat00ben06 listen guys i love jeff but read some blake or something....

  • jeez im sure hed be flattered by all these people thinkin hes like jesus, but Im sure hed want you all to do your own thing and free yourself from the chains that are "following someone else". Make your own damn prophercies!

  • my thoughts exactly

  • fall in light fall in light

     fall in light

  • Fall in Love

    Fall In love

    Fall In Love

A Phropecey he predicted for us all

but is shall never come to pass for

    me.....

But still he is my leader,

    He is my Guide.

  • He is the leader

and the phropecey will come true. To us all.

  • Beautiful, melodic, soul-toucing song! ;-0)

  • a great song, yes!

  • I love you. I just love you.

  • o_O

  • Well done Jay Jay, tks for posting. Liner notes for "Sketches" quote producer Tom Verlaine saying he thought it could be released as is. Jeff, the perfectionist, wanted to make it better. Can"t imagine what he would have changed, because I love it, as is, myself. Saw Jeff and band at the Cup Of Joe in Raleigh NC just after "Grace" was released. I still can't explain what an AMAZING, UNBELEIVABLE, EXTRAORDINARY show that was. Never seen anyone like him. Never will again.

  • I never talked to anyone that actually saw and heard Jeff playing. It is you the 1st person who saw him alive, just confirming that the guy did his music in an amazing way. Tkx for that!

  • great great video!

  • Thank you!

    :)

  • jay!!!! awesome!!! amazing video, amazing shots, amazing! wonderful way to characterize new years prayer, just being you, no strings attached...amazing, Jeff buckley xever!!!

  • the songs actually called 'new years prayer'

  • Yes it is, as it says in the vid, but as I wrote about Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk, I left the title as the name's clip.

    Thank you.

Saw you guys playing, it was fun.

    Enjoy weekend

  • oh right cool cheers for putting it up

  • :)

    :)

  • I really love Jeff Buckleys music and I think you done a great job of executing the eerie romantic feel of this piece. Well done.

    Scar x

  • -thank you, S!

    :)

  • another great one

    class :)

  • Thank you so much

    :)

  • I love jeff buckley and i love all of his songs. this sounds very haunting and very beautiful at the same time. I just wish jeff was still here.

  • Thank you so much.

Buckley rules, always new, always good!

  • did you guys know that this is brad pitt's favorite song? i read that angie gave him an awesome bike and she wrote "my sweetheart, the drunk" on it with her own hands :-)

  • Absolutely love this song!

Its kinda mystical... I lost my mind in every word he sang!

    His voice is freaking awesome...

  • I love this whole album. He said he wanted to write it as though he'd never relased "Grace", as though he was a new artist and no-one could expect any certain things of him.

He did a bloody good job.

    Almost.

    :(

  • yes, he did.

So glad we can hear, and feel, everytime we want to

  • anyone know another song like this one? instrumental, trippy, along those lines

  • don't know any other song like this one.

    Can't help you, sorry

  • Ian Moore experimented with a sound similar to this on his "And All the Colors" CD...and STP sort of experimented w/ a sound similar w/ their CD, "No 4" song is: "No way out" -Sting also experimented with this sound. I believe this is called "world music" -but it's awesome and I'm glad you posted this...I had to have this song off iTunes. Jeff Buckley was just amazing!

  • This song is so different from the usual Buckley sound, I think he was looking for new beats, like growing in new sounds, this is part of his unfinished album.

I'll check on Moore and Sting the mood

  • listen to dream brother by jeff

  • future sound of london - papua new guinea

    watch?v=GCoCTkC0oL0

  • Maybe try "Repentance" by Dream Theater (although its not all instrumental) and try "Bankok" by Steve Vai, instrumental and very Middle Eastern sounding vibes... You might also like "All about Eve" by Steve Vai

  • And, funnily enough, try typing "Adam Lambert - Ring of Fire - Studio" into youtube... It's really good, despite coming from American idol.

  • MOOOO

  • that's the first thing i thought when i heard this! :)

  • Great!

  • jeff buckley is the greatest artist of all times!!!!

  • Diese Songen ist sehr suB

  • wow, du sprichst deutsch? das ist toll:):) alles gute:)

  • nein, ich spreche kein Deutsch, aber Google tut. Was zählt, ist, dass wir reden und das ist großartig

  • Woah.

  • Jeff was the greatest.

  • He was, for sure!

  • This is a hot track from that album...I thought "you" were "him" for a minute. But, your lips ain't as full as his were!! x p

  • Yes, it his song, and my image!

    :)

  • I bought this CD a while ago, and I've been listening to it A LOT. It's really amazing.

    Peace

    Rose

  • Tkx, Rose

  • Ok, I have find the name.

    It's "New year's prayer".

  • Can someone tell me the name of this song, plase?

  • When you hear this, it becomes quite obvious that Thom Yorke listened to Jeff Buckley a lot :)

Great song, amazing voice... Such a feeling of... Weightlessness.

  • He's been very open about his love for Jeff Buckley.

  • Nice job. Jeff would have approved :)

  • thank you so much

  • This song is so good at depressive times.

Why did Jeff have to die :@

Did you make the video? It's beautiful

  • one can be affraid of the resembling of him and me, never the same fate has grown into two persons, but everything has its first time.. hope in every of his pains i can feel mine!

  • Thank you for your words

  • The title of this song is New Year's Prayer. Absolutely beautiful!

  • and it's a great song!

    :)

  • thanks for posting this. I first heard Jeff Buckley in '95 when Grace came out and thought he had a remarkable voice. I was saddened when he died and still am. Just think of what wonderful work he could have done!

  • !st time I heard Grace I found it dull, but my father heard him so much, that I started to enjoy. Only some years later I really study Jeff work. He died young, but he did a great work. So he remains the mystery white boy forever

  • My God... As an Elvis fan (so what? ) I must say that this guy was reaaly really something. So shame that he left us early, God Bless his soul and I hope we lives on forever.

  • Thank you very much, John!

  • the exactly name of song is New Year's Preyer.

I love it. it's one of my favourite. it seems to be in trance.

  • Yes, the name of the song comes at the end of the clip. It's a great song!

Thank you so much for the fav's

  • This song, although odd, with a dreamlike, druggie quality, is very uplifting for those of us oddball outcasts, the misfits of society. -,_,- It just fills you with a calm peace when you listen to it.... ahhhhh.... That's the kind of song to paint to!

  • New year's prayer it's a very fine and yet so strange. So glad you like it!

    :)

  • ~~~~Feel no shame for what you are

Feel it as a water fall

    Fall in light, ooh

Love this song..and this MAN..RIP.. TY!!

  • Very haunting vocal sound and song overall.....very talented guy! Figures that he would die young. Too much for the current music scene....

  • You're right Robert! You are one smart motherfucker! haha
