  • I LOVE YOU!

  • I love your description, "*especially* if you're a slash fan." XDD

Helllllll yeahhh, exactly why I thought I might like this movie ;D

  • I love how Rosencrantz is constantly discovering future scientific breakthroughs (Gravity, displacement of matter, steam power, and arguably, the Big Mac) and Guildenstern just ignores him. xD So funny.

  • This is the cleverest play I've ever read. Tom Stoppard is a genius. The movie is also hilarious.

  • Plus the poor guy has no idea what's going on or what people are saying half the time...this goes with my first comment.

  • Anyone else feel so bad for Rosencrantz (Gary Oldman) in this movie? Poor guy can't catch a break. Everytime he wants to show or tell Guildenstern something either G ignores him or what R wanted to show him doesn't work the way he thought it would.

  • GREAT LOVE AND RESPECT FROM POLAND!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH MY DEAR FOR THIS GREAT PIECE OF ART! I WATCHED IT SO LONG TIME AGO IN CINEMA AND LOVED IT EVER SINCE:) BRILLIANT FILM

  • Thank you sooooo much for this! Been dying to see it!

  • @CaffreyLover "the second Johnny Depp"

This hurts my brain. You do realize he's been around longer than Depp?

  • @KiltOfIron no, really????

  • I get it, the coin is like the play!

  • Tom Stoppard's dialogue makes this compelling viewing, again and again!

  • Such a great movie, funky but amazing - Shakespeare at play. Also I love Tim and Gary in this, perfect foils for one another. Thanks for posting this.

  • Heads.

  • Thank you so much for uploading, but now the aspect ratio is squished! )): It's not in glorious wide-screen like it is supposed to be.

Apparently you can fix it by adding a tag on your video that looks like this:

    yt:stretch=16:9

It doesn't require you to re-upload it. It would be very helpful if you added the tags to all the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead videos! I just find the squished picture to be distracting.

  • Happy Birthday Gary!

  • Pink Floyd intro

  • ive read the screen play in my english class. when they are eating it says " he holds it up...he has invented the hamburger." honestly my class cracked up at that. just how i lol at the scene when i first saw it

  • WOW THANKS A LOT! THANKS A LOT! Agree with margaritacarne, even here in Germany that movie is not to find. At least not here in Eastern Germany :(

  • thx for uploading.......i have trouble obtaining a copy

  • I love how quietly he says, "79."

  • Ooo Tim Roth you sexy beast!!!! Lol

  • I gotta rent this.

  • I'm sitting through this for fun

I'd be freaked out much more if I kept getting heads

  • I'm here for Gary Oldman and Tim Roth. :)

  • im only watching this because of school. i would never sit through this for fun.

  • @BarrettTV You obviously have no taste, eye for talent, or a brain.

  • @milocrmgb OH im sorry,i wasnt aware i cant have personal preferences in regards to movies,my mistake

  • this is one of the worst books/play ever witten............... awwwwwwwwww its so confusing

  • heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads heads

  • thank you SO MUCH for posting this film!! :)

  • wow its much easier to understand lol

  • yes thank you!!!

ah i needed to watch this for my ap english class project but i couldn't find it anywhere! thanks!! XD

  • I've never seen this on stage, but I've read the play with great pleasure. I think the film is very well cast and acted, but having watched the film, I'm convinced the attempts to open it up and dramatize it don't work. Just from this opening, the initiation of the coin-tossing (which has already been happening for an indeterminate period of time when the play opens) and the awful music really undercut the scene.

  • Everything is brilliant but the stupid slide guitar/piano.

  • Consider: Every time they catch the coin, it lands in their hand tails up. Everytime it lands on the ground or on the stage floor (seen later) it is heads up. The coin IS landing on differant sides. Awesome movie btw 5/5

  • thanks for uploading....i'm playing guldenstern doing the verbal tennis match for my AS level exam, so i thought watching this would be good for learning the character. thanks alot!

  • I kept wondering when Slash was going to appear - then I decided to look up 'slash' on wiki. Now I understand!

  • I love this movie, british comdey's the best....

  • @ladyluckLove32

Its actually categorized as satire, but humorous nonetheless.

  • I haven't been able to find this online or in stores anywhere for literally a decade. Never thought to search YouTube, it came up as related to A Bit of Fry and Laurie and I got really excited. Thank you, my friend!

  • @Nerfi They have it available to watch instantly on Netflix

  • @ManiacBeoulve I still live in the unenlightened age of "don't have a netflix subscription."

  • is it weird that I'm hungry now?

  • Thank the LORD! somebody finally put this movie up here!!!! I've been looking for it for a very long time!!! thanks for posting it!!!

  • I have to be guildenstern in the play in a few weeks so thanks.

  • I love this play. ^__^

  • @Rabija0and0Adzkha Tim just looks gorgeous in this.. hmmmm.

  • i love how he checks at 04:57 to see if it has heads on both sides xD

  • i saw the play and it was a modernised version which i really liked. i haven't watched the movie yet, but I will, it just puzzles me a little seeing they kept the style traditional..

  • That tomato squirt was really disgusting ... and amusing XD

  • Heads.

  • the tomato eating part somehow got me wanting to eat some raw tomatoes just to try it out

  • Well, a movie that begins with Pink Floyd's "Seamus" must be good... :)

  • heads

  • my goodness the best two actors just so happened to be together in one film

  • Thank you for uploading!

  • When he pulls out that triple-decker burger...priceless! My english teacher said this wasn't "roll-down-the-aisles" funny, but that caught me completely off guard.

  • @Steamrunner92 yeah, yeah. i watched this when i was a teenager (for enjoyment, not school related) and i was a little confused about what to expect -- tim roth being all serious; gary oldman being daft -- and then up comes the burger and i realized that this movie had some surprises. had it not been for the hamburger, i probably -- most people would've probably -- changed the channel and never have given this brilliant movie a second thought. the big mac saved the day. lol.

  • Happy Birthday, Gary!

  • Thanks for uploading this! Gotta watch it for my ENG 108 class...

  • SFU eng103 ftw!!

  • hahha yeyeye

  • heads...heads...heads...heads...

  • what does slash mean?

  • i <3 tim roth. period. lol

  • Is that Sirius Black? Haha.

  • NO,,,Gary Oldman,...also known as Rosencrates, Sirius Black, Dracula. James Gordan, Beethoven.....Great actor...learn his name respect him

  • @crazyphan18 don't forget Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg and Stansfield :)

  • @crazyphan18 *Rosencrantz ; )

  • @crazyphan18 He's in Leon the Professional as well.

  • @crazyphan18 don't forget Sid Vicious and Norman Stansfield

  • gary oldman yes.

  • So, after all the time spent on TvTropes, I passed over R&G are Dead many, many times. But since we've just finished Hamlet in english class, I let curiousity get the better of me and checked out the page about it.

Loved it, immediately. These two are my favorites from the play (well, them and Horatio) and I really wanted to see this movie, so. Thank you very, very much for the upload.

  • why does it freeze at 8:45?

  • what's a slash fan?

  • for some reason they remind me off the two neerdowells from waiting for godot

  • actually, funny thing is Stoppard based his characters off of Estragon and Vladimir. So you're totally correct.

  • @bryngOneOn supposedly waiting for Godot was a major influence for Stoppard had when he wrote this so it's entirely possible

  • even when i was an ignorant little kid and a good movie was one explosions and spaceships, even then just hearing of the premise of this film struck a chord in me, how clever and leftfield, and i absolutely love how one of the duo keeps nearly discovering and understanding great questions etc

  • I've just discover this movie and it is HILARIOUS. The pseudo "hamburger" kept me laughing my guts out. Thanks for uploading, but definitely I have to buy it to add it to my collection.

  • i love this play. we had to read and analyse it in english class.

  • LUCKY!

I am jealous, we read Hamlet in English class, I googled Hamlet, one thing lead to another, and I found Rosencranz and guildensten are dead, I always liked Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, I don't know why, but I am gonna watch this now.

  • You are a saint. I just read the play and had a tricky time with it, but my friends swear by this film. No rental store had it in stock. Thanks for uploading.

  • lol, you're very welcome :D glad i could help

  • I had to go to Canada to find a copy....this was several years ago, so it was a VHS copy.

  • Thanks!!!! this is one of my fav movies, and I just can't find it on stores; it's really frustrating, because it seem like, here, in Peru, no one knows about it.

    Thanks again!

  • you're very welcome! glad i could help ^^~ that is frustrating :P

i've added a link to part two if you hadn't found it yet ^^ I've got a few more parts to upload in the next couple of days then it will be all there.

  • Oh my gosh, thank you for putting this up! I love this movie and Gary Oldman so much! I look forward to seeing more. :)

  • you're very welcome! ^^ I have a few more parts up on this account, Magpie08aa5. Just look in my uploaded videos and they'll slowly all get there :) Not sure why they aren't showing up in the related videos yet...

  • yeah cool man, wanted to see this film.

Question... what do you mean by slash??

  • hm, well, slash is a term used by fanfiction or fanvid creators to describe a relationship between two characters of the same sex that is unusually close. we 'pair' them romantically because of this bond. I was recently watching an interview with Tim Roth and he described their relationship as very sweet ^^ and its true.

(I have more parts of this movie uploaded on this account, Magpie08aa5, if you were wondering)

  • Ko, thanks!
