I agree - I'm working on that one - Rudd is a smooth talking diplomat who loves to sound like he's doing everything right. At least with Howard it was obvious how fucked up he was - he would tell everyone straight. I didn't vote labor, but I remember the interest rates - but also house prices were about 1/3 what they are now, the pain wasn't as bad as it is now. Also some people actually had savings, so high interest rates were great for that large group of people. I also remember interest rates under Howard as Treasurer - 22%. Read "Ozonomics". It'll give you a better perspective on things.
