Some people think that guys overshadow girls in sports but not to much. I say this because some softball players can throw pretty fast. Some have to get shoulder surgery because of how fast they throw the ball.

Different sports. Different feelings about them. Same and Different. It doesn't matter which sport is better. It doesn't matter which sport is more difficult to play. What really matters is that kids and adults all around the world can enjoy either sport and meet friends, exercise, get outside, be active, and have fun in doing so. Isn't that the point of sports?

You did better than me my first time. people who want to be a pitcher, there are going to be alot of people in highschool to try out for pitcher fo have another choice like short, Third or even outfeild. there are alot of hits that go out there. I am a catcher and if i stick at it i might become a high school catcher.! no mater what don't give up. its an amazing sport. I love to play. We came in 1st this year and we all improved. I've played for 5 years and still love it.

I can't pitch fast underhand to save my life. My daughter pitched little leauge (overhand) for several years and now plays softball, she can't pitch underhand either. Its definitely an art you must spend time to develope.

ply48nsw - you are incorrect. Nobody throws a soft ball at 150 kph. The best male pitchers in the world throw 130. And they don't throw from 10 metres. Try 14 metres. Still - you are right. Softball is a much more exciting game than baseball. A baseball hitter would initially have lots of trouble hitting off a great softball pitcher.

@awickedshimmy I'm sure there are a number of people that throw a softball at 150 kph... that's only 87 mph. The best male pitchers in the world throw at 209 kph which equals 130 miles per hour. Just saying... for clarification.

WTF!!!! baseball is not harder, the only difference is the stand a couple inches back form us and there ball small. Really softball is sort of hard because we have to use our whole body for pitch and the guys only use there arms. And the ball is bigger and harder to throw so nobody should be saying any thing.

Oh my. I just read that it was designed specifically for the female player. It will be like two weeks to see if it fits me well. I bought it from amazon and I live outside the us. I don't think my fingers are too large or thick but I didn't have problems with baseball gloves in the past.

Fastpitch is exactly what it says. The ball is pitched faster and harder than softpitch (up to 60-70 mph). The ball is often "windmilled" which helps give alot of the power behind the ball which is thown underhand. Most of the fast pitch softball teams you will find are all girl or women teams. My daughter is 9 and is learning to pitch fastpitch. Even at her age, the balls are fairly quick. (believe me, I've gotten beaned in the legs a few times during her pitching practices)

you can't say that MLB baseball players are better athletes than softball players, because as I said before you cannot compare male athletes to female athletes. They do not have the same structures. Sure MLB players are the best of the best in there own sport, as are softball players on national teams the best in their sport and of their own sex. They are both elite athletes, in the best shape they can possibly be, but its insane if you are trying to compare male athletes to female athletes.

A softball pitcher isn't going to go and throw a smaller ball overhand because that is not softball, it is baseball. Softball pitchers throw underhand with a bigger ball. The minimum salary in MLB is $400,000. If softball pitchers are better, then surely they'd run to MLB where they would make their millions in endorsements and over $10M per year salary. I don't have to read a book, I've attended and been involved in 1000's of games in both baseball and softball. Again, and you are being owned, the great unhittable softball pitchers should work with a smaller ball and go to make even more than they could possibly make in softball.

I feel like i'm talking to a 6 year old, fccommish. A softball pitcher is not going to run to the MLB because the MLB is not softball. Notice how the pitcher pitches underhand? So, why would a softball pitcher go and throw overhand, when her entire career is based on throwing a bigger ball underhand? Do you get it? A softball pitcher can't just automatically change and go to a completely different pitching motion, not to mention an unatural overhand motion.

How is Baseball harder? In a game of softball you have much less time to make plays and decisions, the pitch doesn't come quite as fast but it comes from a lot closer, playing open mens softball you get pitchers throwing 140-150kph and doing it from 12-10 metres away, how can you say that baseball is harder then that?
