I was so absolutely in love it wasn't funny ......I would just sit and listen to this clutching the album cover.....staring out the window......and my mother knew better than to interrupt that when Donny was in mid song.......it was a special time
I remember riding in the car with my parents when I was 11 yrs old and the radio man said "here is the new song by Donny osmond with his new voice"..I was like What? Then after the song was played, I was like. WOW !!!
ME AND MY PARTNERS SONG! AFTER 33 YEARS TOGETHER AS THE SAME AS YOU JOHN 25041957 I AM A FAN FOR OVER 40YRS YOU CANT BEAT THE OSMONDS VERY RELAXING MUSIC ANYTIME OF THE DAY
I'm 53 now so these performers were of my time also, along with some heavier music. But yes i agree with you on all points, and we were all so blessed to have been able to experience the talent and innocence of the 70's. My Grand Kids dig watching their vidoes and they are musicians so we may have come full circle.
Fantastic singer at his age. And what a face. My best friend was soooo in love with this guy in the 70;s as was i with David Cassidy. Those were the good old days.
@Awakening1958 Yes, indeed they were. Pop/rock music, on the whole, was better in those days (1973) than it is now, in the 21st century. Donny Osmond and David Cassidy - his great rival in the 'weenybopper' stakes - both made some quality singles during the early/mid 1970's, which have stood the test of time.
The 1970's were more innocent times than the era in which we now live. Also, back then, men were men ...... and birds were birds!
Just great song !!!... Remember was singing it all the time through I didn't understand all the words !!!... Wonderfull to hear it again ... and see again young Donny !!...
@mapetitestellina The words are not difficult to understand, surely? Maybe you were VERY young back in March 1973 - when this classic song was @ number 1 in the charts.
I've heard so many versions of this song. Donny simply has the best vocals and feeling throughout the song. I love Elvis's version too, but Donny is King on this one!
Awww... this brings back childhood memories. I thought I was going to marry Donny until he got married. But I loved him for many many years and still have a sense of loyalty to him. And now I am into Michael. I guess I loved the young Donny then and love the older Michael now. Ok, I love them both ;)
@COURT7DAWWG "NO SUCH THING AS TOO LOYAL TO ONE'S WIFE!!" Well said; well said indeed.
In this day and age far too many people (of both sexes) commit adultery - or 'play away from home', to use the fashionable, colloquial expression.
This may be a unpopular view, but it is my belief that people who are unwilling or unable to be faithful sexually to one partner, shouldn't get married.
@dvinedzine Yes; it was in February 1995, her first public appearance after the passing of her husband. She was opening for Allen Ginsberg at a poetry reading in Detroit, accompanied by a string quartet. Wish I could have seen it! Maybe she will surprise us and play it in concert some time :)
я его первый раз услышала с пластинки в 1978 году и так возбуждалась от его песен,что мой парень прятал его фотографию с альбома и говорил, что Донни Осмонд-третий лишний...Мне уже 51....и я до сих пор его люблю и всю его семью.
Splendid! I thoroughly enjoyed that, so i did. "The Twelfth of Never" is a song which has been recorded by many distinguished singers - including Johnny Mathis and [Sir] Cliff Richard - over the course of the past 50 years ...... but, in my considered opinion, Mr Osmond's rendition of the song stands out as being the finest of them all. A superlative single, which deserved to spend a lot more than 1 short week at the top of the UK charts.
åh man får jo minder tilbage til en ung pige der sad på sit væresle og sank hen i drømme om denne smukke unge mand. Han kunne bare synge , og stadig idag.

all of you move over this lady knew Donald Clark Osmond lot older then all you i was born same year he was 4-28-57 he born in 12-9-57 so mover over LOL he's still my Love of life always will be even to now
Oh God, haven't seen this since I was a kid! I loved Donny! You can see here how he always switched the mike from hand to hand - my mother said it was 'just affectation" LOL he has really aged well and still sounds great. My sister saw the whole Osmond family in concert in the UK last year :)
A top hit for Donny Osmand in 1973. When I see or hear something Osmond related, I think of my beloved cousin. As a teen, she was a big Osmond fan. Sadly, she is no longer with us, having succumbed to Lou Gehrig's Disease on December 27, 2007.
@grandmoffyoda And why not? I am a hetero middle-aged man (46 years of age) and I enjoy listening to this song. It is a fine piece of music, and deserved to spend more than 1 week at the top of the charts back in 1973, IMHO.
no one sings this song like the young Donnie osmond i really love this song my wife and i sing this together at times as much as i like elvis he can't even sing it like donnie
Whoa this song walked into our family life one of the biggest hits way way back in the day 11 eyars of age back deen seems like only yesterday, I beleive its call memories wow doesn't it just come flooding back.
I remember when this song came out (I was a little girl) and my mother telling me she'd heard it and that Donny's voice was changing! He sure was a pretty boy--still is! :)

@MyKnf I just noticed your comment...I have been adding some of D.O. early stuff with the addition to Parents & well I guess Grandparents about Justin Beeber....he is so NOT new!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any & ALL early D.O. talent blows this JB kid away....
@MyKnf Well said; well said indeed. Osmond was an underrated talent, who received far, far more than his fair share of criticism from the media during the early/mid-1970's. He has also come in for an inordinate amount of flak and stick since that time, of course.
His version of "The Twelfth Of Never" - which was recorded in late 1972 or early 1973 (when he was only 15 years of age) is, to my mind, superior to Cliff Richard's version of that song.
My mum's favourite ever song; I used to hear her sing it didn't even know it was a Donny Osmond one; guess he was before my time but wow he was and still is gorgeous; what a voice.
The most romantic song ever....I was at their 50th anniversary concert. What a blast when Donny sang this song to a long-time fan. She had tears down her eyes and she was screaming with joy like a teenager!
@MultiChunk1 When "The Twelfth Of Never" reached # 1 in the UK charts - in March 1973 - Mr Osmond was fifteen years of age. (His D.O.B. is 9th December 1957). He may only have been fourteen when he recorded the song; I am not sure.
One more pretty boy singer...not saying he is bad, but nothing to write home about. Just a cute Tigerbeat boy. Could have done without the video howl 'special effects'. The seventies were strange, no? I am indeed glad that there are no time machines.
@amourdutigre Well, I don't envy any young man who has to sing in public as his voice changes, etc...his voice has taken on a lot of depth and texture over the years. He is actually quite a good singer.
@amourdutigre Even if time machines existed on God's earth, there would (presumably) be no obligation on you (or anybody else, for that matter) to travel back to the 1970's - or to any other decade in history.
You are clearly not a fan of the 1970's, which is fair enough. But it is my guess that you are a member of a generation which was not around at that time. If that is the case, then you are not really in an ideal position to make a comparison between life in the 1970's and life today
Donny makes me cry :(. well, mostly this song. because it is SSSOOOO beautiful (even if him here is a little dodgey due to his poor voice changing) and meaningful. Plus it makes me wish i was born in the late 50's like donny and michael and my mum, just so i could enjoy being a kid in the 60s n 70s. shame i'm born in the 90s. damn! at my age- DONNY WAS PURELY THE BEST! (did anyone realise he had a monobrow in the 70s? my mum took 40 years to realise it. oh well, still a gd looking boy x)

Fabulous video, brings the memories flooding back, i,m 48 and donny was my favourite in the 70s, i had a lifesize poster of donny out of the jackie teen mag. and was on my bedroom wall, and had every single he made as well as the osmonds, happy days then.
I have heard several versions of this song. Waylon Jennings did one a long time ago. I don't know the year, or the album. But I like it the best.. Donny ain't bad.
@jrdill1929 I had only heard Donny's version, which I love, but I heard that my favourite singer, Patti Smith once performed this live - wish I could hear her do it!
@seta1120 aha i'm a strange child in my school. everyone with bieber fever and i have osmond fever :P ahah I can't wait to meet him!! :D i'm litterally in love and obesessed with him! ahah I love Marie so much too! and all of the osmonds ahah but Donny and Marie are my favorite <333 :)
@osmondlover129 omg everyone at school asks me why I don't love Justin Bieber but I like Donny Osmond! I figured I was the only person! I'm so happy to find another Donny Osmond fan <3
i think this sounds pretty good considering. i think his voice was still breaking, that or he might have been sick or something. the one of his record i better. go donny!

So, this is the song that was at No. 1 the day i was born...wtf? this is 'one bad apple' and it makes my whole stomach turn...why couldn't it have been Nazareth?...oh well.
@jacamnat : I have to admit I couldn't live with the idea, and I did a bit of research, and this was #1 on the UK charts, but here in Canada it was "Roberta Flack- killing me softly with his song" and Billboard US was 'the o'jays- love train' so depending on where you were born you may find a bit of peace here.

cheers for the thought m8 - but unfortunately I'm from Scotland, so am stuck with cheese based crap. ARRGGHH, the damned tune is playing in the background as I typ this. Gutted.
@gallafey I don't mean to be pedantic, but Little Jimmy Osmond's hit "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool" actually topped the UK charts in the December of 1972 - not '71.
I was 10 years old in 1973 and so wished that I could sing like Donny Osmond. i just new the girls would like me if only I could sing like that. LOL. Thanks Donny for the great memories
I use to listen to this song over and over , its a beautiful song done by a guy that has a beautiful voice, this song by Donny always gave me goose bumps, still does...
This video contains a Donny Osmond performance posted for the enjoyment of his fan. If you don't like him, there are plenty of other videos you could watch. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I see a very attractive, talented young man and he is a very attractive, talented man today.l
@Thechelsie94 Well said! This song was out when I was 10 and my aunt was at the beauty shop and I sat in the car listening to this for the 1st time. Donny's songs were beautiful and my sister was crazy about him! I later grew to like "Puppy Love" but it took longer for me to appreciate it like Donny's other songs!
I sang this in my 8th grade talent show and won first place. that was back in the late 70's I always followed donny osmond throughout my singing career. He is the BEST
What a nice memory...

The most romantic song ever....I was at their 50th anniversary concert. What a blast when Donny sang this song to a long-time fan. She had tears down her eyes and she was screaming with joy like a teenager!

Gorgeous and talented. I love this song sung by him. Donny's a star and a really good guy. I'd do him.

RabidRhonda 1 year ago
@amourdutigre Even if time machines existed on God's earth, there would (presumably) be no obligation on you (or anybody else, for that matter) to travel back to the 1970's - or to any other decade in history.
You are clearly not a fan of the 1970's, which is fair enough. But it is my guess that you are a member of a generation which was not around at that time. If that is the case, then you are not really in an ideal position to make a comparison between life in the 1970's and life today

I have tickets for June 8th. He still makes my heart melt after 35 years.

Donny did a great job with this. Back in the day when I really was a little girl.
It's great to see how this now middle aged man continues to set a good example for us all. I will admire hime always.

@jrdill1929 I had only heard Donny's version, which I love, but I heard that my favourite singer, Patti Smith once performed this live - wish I could hear her do it!

me as well. 2nd april. gutted when I found out it was this guff.
jacamnat 2 years ago
@jacamnat : I have to admit I couldn't live with the idea, and I did a bit of research, and this was #1 on the UK charts, but here in Canada it was "Roberta Flack- killing me softly with his song" and Billboard US was 'the o'jays- love train' so depending on where you were born you may find a bit of peace here.

this was 2nd UK No.1 for Donny Osmond however it is the third for the whole Osmond clan (Little Jimmy Osmond UK Xmas No.1, 1971)
gallafey 2 years ago 2
@gallafey I don't mean to be pedantic, but Little Jimmy Osmond's hit "Long Haired Lover From Liverpool" actually topped the UK charts in the December of 1972 - not '71.

This video contains a Donny Osmond performance posted for the enjoyment of his fan. If you don't like him, there are plenty of other videos you could watch. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I see a very attractive, talented young man and he is a very attractive, talented man today.l

Agreed.. he is very much as good looking today as he was way back then...and just as talented..
