There were a lot of albums pulled in the early 80s for being fake Hendrix. To me, a 30 years plus Hendrix fan. No, it doesn't have the Hendrix feel when he improvises. None of the nuances that made Hendrix great. Hendrix mistakes were better than this guys best effort. Sorry.
It's pretty absurd that people believe this is Hendrix. To be generous, I can just barely sympathize with you if you aren't a fan of guitar playing, and it all sounds like guitar noise to you. But to people who are familiar with Hendrix's insanely distinct and unprecedented sound, it is obvious that this guitarist isn't worthy of wiping Hendrix's ass; there is no rhythm or attitude whatsoever. Yes, he is playing minor pentatonic blues licks on an overdriven guitar, but there the similarity ends.
@bonykingofnowhere ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yes Hendrix...........ONE of a kind,,,,,,,as Clapton put it the nilght he went to see him for the first time in an underground tavern in Britain,,,,,,,,,"think were ( all current guitarists) gonna have to find another line of work " ..........Gone too soon !!!! this is hendrix people i found the number on a cd of his own so yeah its hendrix and if youre really into hendrix then you should listen to his early work, youll find out that it sounds lot like this
@2307nike uhhm ill find out for you lets see the number is on the cd in the beginning which was released in 1972 but i know it from the cd Hey Joe wich which i have O.o if you search the internet very good youll find the cd with the track on it but on this cd's the track also exists: gold collection (disc 1), Best of Jimi Hendrix (disc 2), Modern Blues: The Gold Collection (disc 2), The Best Of, The Jimi Hendrix Story, Volume 3, A Musical Legacy - Disc 1. so what do you think?
@preatorian4ever Clearly you're the one who should listen to Hendrix more if you can't tell that this is obviously not him. People think it's Hendrix because it was released on an album called "In the Beginning" in the 70's by some shady record label who used 5 Hermon Hitson songs (there were only 6 tracks of the entire record) on it and called it Hendrix to take monetary advantage of his name. This is definitely Hermon Hitson and you should probably stop spreading misinformation.
@klauditofull100 It is from a 4 CD set called the Jimi Hendrix Story and has 52 songs on it many not on other albums that were cut for space. This is Hendrix.
@Kelebrinlith Why are you pathetically lying on here? I, unline you, actually have the Lifelines: The Jimi Hendrix Story 4 CD collection in my hands right now and have owned it for over a decade. This isn't on the collection and this recording isn't on any of Jimi Hendrix's official albums because THIS IS NOT JIMI HENDRIX. This is Herman Hitson's cover and you're a fool for saying otherwise.

We spent the rest of the day washing Jimi's naked black body in the pacific ocean, Americans and Charlie alike, just to get a touch of this soon to be legend of the electric guitar. Jimi flew away like Jesus that day and the next time I saw him was at Woodstock.
Jimi did record in Nashville around August 1963, when he was 20 years old...I believe these sessions were never released and scrapped because his playing although extremely good at that time (per Steve Cropper) was probably "noisy" to the clean ears of the Nashville engineers/producers ...
Jimi was in a lot of hole in the wall studios recording and after he got famous the usual suspects put his pic on album covers and SOMETIMES had another guitarist try to "do" Jimi - this track is one of them...but he did cut some nice sessions before he was famous (and even after) for his "friends" at J===y Sound and others...not sure wherever the hell this was cut....

@lnwolfgr i have the copy from bellaphon the code of the album is 220-07-007 and my friend @thatwalrusguy yes the first track is HEY LeROY ;) free spirit, is the next one house of the rising, sun the third 4 something you got 5 let the god sing 6 she's a fox. And is all instrumental album
Ya know how i know this is not hendrix ? ....cos the bloke had soulful vibrato -this is feeble -like kirk hammett - weak and ineffectual - thats how i know .
This is not Jimi. I have been a fan for over 25 years and it doesn't have Jimi's brilliance. Just be honest, listen to it. Jimi was so much better than this. Not that this is bad.
Come down! This was (is) never Jimi! Everbody who want told us thats Jimi is a liar and everbody who plays a little bit guitar or knowing somthing about must feel it! Right?
This Is not Hendrix. 1st...sounds too "clean" for a non remastered version + has no vinyl or oldies TASCAM "feeling" (aka Noise :P )2nd.. Two guitars??? WTF!- 3rd...licks and arrangements are not Hendrix like...and 4th...and 5th...6th.....
the hendrix estate would not allow such garbage to be released even if it was him.also the way this was recorded didnt exist pre experiance. you obviuosly take us all for morons you fkn stooge. there isnt ONE lick on this garbage that is indicative of his prowess. that tone is offensive he would never NEVER NEVER even hear that tone. nice try sonny. your up way past your bed time.
This is jimi hendrix' for sure,,, i have this song on vynil... its called Free Spirit , whit a big picture of hendrix playing guitar up front.. cant miss
It's on "Jimi Hendrix" "In the Beginning", released 1972 by Shout Records, Atlanta, Georgia. Tracklist: Hey LeRoy, Free Spirit, House of the Rising Sun, Something You Got, Let the God Sing, She's a Fox
reportedly, it's on "Jimi Hendrix" "In the Beginning", released 1972 by Shout Records, Atlanta, Georgia. Tracklist: Hey LeRoy, Free Spirit, House of the Rising Sun, Something You Got, Let the God Sing, She's a Fox.
I would just like to point out that at about 1:40 there are wrong notes. Who in their right mind would think JIMI HENDRIX would leave wrong notes in a recording???! He very rarely played wrong notes LIVE. If ever, to be honest. Why would he play such a SIMPLE rendition of the song? Since when has Hendrix played simple songs? Never, is the answer :)
Every, even the best guitarists play "wrong notes" form time to time! If you attend concerts personally, you will know this (the "wrong notes" only don't make it onto the recordings most of the time). That said, there isn't something like "wrong notes" when imrpovising.
And then get the 4 hours diretor's cut of Woodstock. On this you will here Hendlix playing lots of wrong notes as you call it. Sometimes only sounding "wrong" bacause the guitar is completely out of tune.
@FUNKADELIChicken Uh check Wild Thing, at the Live at Monterey album... the song starts with a cacophony of untuned guitarplaying... nevertheless it is Hendrix it is is AWESOME.
Its not even played with a band its just produced with a computer and the fact that you re discussin it.. oh fuck youre all a bunch auf idiots suck my german ass
I just went to a website called EarlyHendrixdotcom, it has a list of recordings that were released under Jimi's name and are actually fakes. This was listed as being Hermon Histon. The site gives some info behind this, I was suprised to see alot of stuff Ive seen or owend before to be on that list. Its a cool site for any Hendrix fans to check out. Its nice to see people so passionate about Hendrix still.
@cinxanyo I agree with you. "Jimi is written all over this" "The mood and flow give it away." Who played drums on this? It's Ringo Starr. Paul McCartney's on bass. I can tell by the mood and flow.
THIS SONG IS IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM HAS ANY HENDRIX INVOLVEMENT. IF YOU THINK IT DOES-- YOURE MISS-INFORMED AND YOUR TONE DEAF. THIS IS THE GUTAIR WORK OF HERMAN HITSON. FOR CHRIST SAKES, IF YOU DONT KNOW SOMETHING, TAKE THE TIME TO FUCKING FIGURE IT OUT. THIS INCORRECT CRAP GETS PASSED ON AND ON AND ON MAKING A WHOLE VILLAGE OF IDIOTS.
My opinion: sounds nothing like Hendrix. He was a hell of a lot more creative than that. I could have played this thing. It has none of his tone or style. Maybe its a recording he made when he was 13 and just learning, but not very likely.
that being said it's definitely not hendrix. It's something that was prbly recorded by some 20 something year old and titled it as hendrix so he'd feel special
This is not Hendrix, and did not appear on the album moods or on any of the tracklistings for any of his albums. Also lol, "studying Hendrix for 35 years" As he was only musically active for about 7 years you must be a slow learner mate. But of course anyone who claims you're wrong is "obviously not a musician" (lol again.)
This one of about a dozen songs to fill out JH records by Chalpin and others. They're fakes. They are MEANT to fool you. One third of about 150 records is all real (some though still hd orig backing track replaced. onother third had all modified real songs and last third had at least half were the fake ones.
after he died, there were numerous tracks that he had put together, some from playing around, some from actual recording! If I recall, the entire album "Moods" was made up of recordings that were released after his OD. The fact that his piece does not have the flair or smoothness of what some know of him does not mean he did not do it! What it means is that he did it and chose not to release it at the time! .......perhaps and "experiment"!?!?!?!?!
this version of the song was in fact released by Hendrix on an album called "Moods" that I bought when I was in US high school in Germany in 1972. I have never been able to locate a copy, and the best info I have ever received about it was a release outside of US, after his death! If anyone has ever heard or seen Hendrix, they would no doubt know that this is is cut of The House of the Rising Sun! Searching LimeWire for anything, gets you just that.....anything!
Might be an early Hendrix recording. Has his style and riffs, not the power of his fully matured playing though. It sounds like him, just doesn't feel like him- like a hurricane ripping through your chest.
Yeah, well I have been studying Hendrix since 1970- and this is not his lead playing- phrasing is all wrong, no finesse, tuneless and clumsy as hell in parts....
This is Jimi allright, it takes one note for me to identify any blues guitar player, as a guitarist I have been studying Hendrix for 35 years. Anyone who claims that is not Hendrix is obviously not a musician so STFU. Go listen to his early work before shooting your asswiped mouth.
@iorr98 If you've been studying Hendrix for 35 years and you think this is him, you need hearing aids. Whoever this is doesn't have half of Jimi's musicality. Lord save us from youtube know-it-alls.
@iorr98@iorr98 This is definitely not Hendrix. I've been playing the guitar for many decades too and a hard fan of Jimi. You have a problem with your ear, probably.
@iorr98 I've also been "studying" Jimi's music since the release of Hey Joe in December 1966 and I don't know who the hell this is but it's definitely not Jimi. I've been playing the guitar for 41 years, however lots of people who aren't "musicians" should also be able to tell that this isn't Jimi. Google it and you should be able to get some info.
@NightGod07 A very good instrumental outtake by Jimi is "Trashman," the original 7 minute plus version uploaded on here by 1113SANTA, and HalcyOnX, among others. Another one is his studio recorded instrumental version of "Bold as Love." This seems however to be unavailable on YouTube at the moment.
@iorr98 There is no chance this is Hendrix. This guy is just another run of the mill improviser - Jimi walks all over any songs he does, covers or no.
Whereas Jimi would rip this song to shreds, this artist does nothing but solo like a superfluous blues wannabe with no creativity. Go study some more blues.
@iorr98 I think you need your ears syringed. There is not even a passing resemblance to Hendrix's playing here — early or late. But imagine what he could have done with it!
absolutely right. this is not hendrix. By the way jacktancap, you got screwed 15 years ago. I bought the same set at about that time, and I know that's not hendrix. most of that album/cd has nothing to do with jimi hendrix. we got duped because jimi was on the cover. trust me, NOT HENDRIX!!!!!!
@freakshow1366 I pity the guy who "studied" Jimi 35 years and still has not the faintest clue what Jimi is about. The guitarist on this record has no ability to groove ( or even play in time) and no rhythmic inventiveness. This is a passable drummer and a competent but totally minimal hammond player plus some beginner-level players on lead, rhythm and bass. It doesn't even sound like a bad copy of Jimi, it's more like a bad copy of Jimmy Page.
I can't believe there are smartasses here that think they can "recognize" a Hendrix song by listening to it alone. And to the guy saying he studied for 35 years, I researched this song and it was made by Hermon Hitson, you fucking retard. As if listening to the song wasn't enough to know it's not Jimi. This song doesn't have neither the fuzz or the vibe Hendrix songs have, noob. Go listen to Hitson and you will know this ain't Hendrix. Stupid cunt.
@iorr98 You have been "studying hendrix for 35 years" but you use an acronym such as STFU and the phrase "asswiped mouth".... very professional.... That's not Hendrix.
@lewars1912 No I think Ill keep it, I bought it because of the album cover it looks like somone drew it by hand, pretty wierd looking, I only paid a few bucks.
Hear the guitar crying. Isnt it pure? The player makes the guitar cry. I think he is Jimmy. But who cares. Call him Jimmy, call me John, he is a genius, i dont need to know the player to enjoy the piece.
Anyway I could get a download of this?

@TheMichaelseymour guess what. it's hendrix, i have this on vinyl. its on a album with some pre-Experience stuff that Jimi did.

This is not Jimi. I have been a fan for over 25 years and it doesn't have Jimi's brilliance. Just be honest, listen to it. Jimi was so much better than this. Not that this is bad.
hesmon 6 months ago
Nonsense. This is not Hendrix. It's not a stratocaster and there's a rythm guitar player. It's Big Brother and the Holding Company.
I've been playing guitar and listening to Hendrix for over forty years.

the hendrix estate would not allow such garbage to be released even if it was him.also the way this was recorded didnt exist pre experiance. you obviuosly take us all for morons you fkn stooge. there isnt ONE lick on this garbage that is indicative of his prowess. that tone is offensive he would never NEVER NEVER even hear that tone. nice try sonny. your up way past your bed time.

FUNKADELIChicken 7 months ago
@FUNKADELIChicken Scratch that, 1:39 even :P
FUNKADELIChicken 7 months ago
@FUNKADELIChicken
FTStratLP 7 months ago
@FUNKADELIChicken Uh check Wild Thing, at the Live at Monterey album... the song starts with a cacophony of untuned guitarplaying... nevertheless it is Hendrix it is is AWESOME.

My opinion: sounds nothing like Hendrix. He was a hell of a lot more creative than that. I could have played this thing. It has none of his tone or style. Maybe its a recording he made when he was 13 and just learning, but not very likely.
MrTennis88 9 months ago
this guitar work is decent....
that being said it's definitely not hendrix.

One third of about 150 records is all real (some though still hd orig backing track replaced. onother third had all modified real songs and last third had at least half were the fake ones.
mjimih 9 months ago
after he died, there were numerous tracks that he had put together, some from playing around, some from actual recording!
TheTIMWING 10 months ago
this version of the song was in fact released by Hendrix on an album called "Moods" that I bought when I was in US high school in Germany in 1972.
TheTIMWING 10 months ago

This is Jimi allright, it takes one note for me to identify any blues guitar player, as a guitarist I have been studying Hendrix for 35 years. Anyone who claims that is not Hendrix is obviously not a musician so STFU. Go listen to his early work before shooting your asswiped mouth.
iorr98 11 months ago 22
@iorr98 If you've been studying Hendrix for 35 years and you think this is him, you need hearing aids. Whoever this is doesn't have half of Jimi's musicality. Lord save us from youtube know-it-alls.

Another one is his studio recorded instrumental version of "Bold as Love." This seems however to be unavailable on YouTube at the moment.
lewars1912 4 months ago
@iorr98 There is no chance this is Hendrix. This guy is just another run of the mill improviser - Jimi walks all over any songs he does, covers or no.
Whereas Jimi would rip this song to shreds, this artist does nothing but solo like a superfluous blues wannabe with no creativity. Go study some more blues.
Silhouette1984 8 months ago
@iorr98 I think you need your ears syringed. There is not even a passing resemblance to Hendrix's playing here — early or late. But imagine what he could have done with it!

absolutely right. this is not hendrix. By the way jacktancap, you got screwed 15 years ago. I bought the same set at about that time, and I know that's not hendrix. most of that album/cd has nothing to do with jimi hendrix. we got duped because jimi was on the cover. trust me, NOT HENDRIX!!!!!!
freakshow1366 5 months ago
