Mildred Bailey's vocal here is better than Lady Day’s on her great (12 JUL 1937) recording. Was it due to the weather? Miss Bailey & hubby Red Norvo - Mr. and Mrs. Swing - recorded theirs earlier - on a cold 08 JAN 1937 in Chicago,. HOT! :I:

Actually, Billie's version was recorded on January 12, 1937 in New York, just 4 days after Mildred's Chicago recording. But as polished and exquisite as Mildred's version is, I still love Billie's more fiery and sexy rendition. The way she growls, "My heart's on fire," if that's not the definition of HOT, I don't know what is!
