This is one of my very favorite songs, I also have a shortend version on youtube. You have the most lovely voice, & you're beautiful. You have what it takes to go far. You performed this perfectly. Keep going. Lovee it!
AHHH stop lilting!! @sharbas ''I don't think she added any lilts and don't believe she overdid the lilts at all '' your either delusional, bias or both to make a statement like that!
@Realteen Lilting is common in Irish traditional singing. Most people like the lilts - it's a persoanl choice. I tried to check out your channel to see what type of music you usually listen to, but it was unavailable....
@sharbas Well actually I'm a classical Irish singer myself so I know exactly what kind of lilting is acceptable. To be honest I don't really care - you just made an incorrect statement. I'm not sure if you're the singer but if so take the, 'you're lilting too much' advise on board and stop making excuses for it.
@Realteen It was not the singer who replied to you. Your personal preference isn't necessarily the correct one either, so my statement is not incorrect. No matter what you think about Siobhan's singing, her many fans love her. Check her out on facebook, listen to her more recent recordings, go visit her website and read the comments from Bill Whelan and Orlagh Fallon. Also, she recently won the Irish Music Awards "Best New Irish Music Artist". I think all this speaks for itself.....
Beautiful angelic singing, I love the lilts, in fact, I think I better learn a few for my own Celtic singing, which on hearing this, is a bit too straight and narrow, great job Siobhan, Love Lou
Siobhan sang this as it was written in the sheet music. I don't think she added any lilts and don't believe she overdid the lilts at all compared to many other singers. Charlotte Church's version has the same amount of lilts, and Mary Black has more. It's just a matter of opinion really. Nevertheless, you took the time to comment and and to compliment Siobhan's voice. Thank you :)
@sharbas I think she just did it perfect. Indeed It is a personal preference, and I like it. And yes, you can find songs or perfomances on youtube where it is too much used. But not in this one !
It was at a Celtic Festival. There were lots of people sitting and watching/listening, but also other people passing by outside the marquee making a bit of noise. Also, it started raining very heavily and noisily.
This is gorgeous!

Everyone in the room had to have stopped. How can you ignore that voice. It's straight from heaven.

A stellar performance. I love all the other versions, but this one takes me to the bank of the Lagan...

Just the right number of lilts, I'd say.

Her voice is lovely, but she seems to overdo the lilting a little. I thought it was interesting at first, but then she did it too much.
