i noticed if you keep the thumb drive in the xbox and turn it on it reformats it, you have to put the thumb drive in after the xbox loads and remove before you turn it off to keep everything on it so it doesn't act like a new one and formatting it.. I am using a 16gb lexar thumb drive and it does say when formatted that its computable so i don't know why it happens. Would getting an official xbox thumb drive work better?

One thing I noticed between the new xbox slim and the older ones (Arcade, Pro, Elite) that the newer xbox slims will only detect your flash drive if it's plugged in to the back. I had it plugged in to the front usb ports and it wouldnt work. Maybe theres something special I would need to do to solve this? (Not that it really mattaers now that I got it working, just curious)

some flash drives wont be recognized just buy a sandisk cruzer or any sandisk and if you mod all the modding resources will recognize the sandisk flash drives insstead of using usb xtaf or usb xplr to explore others

I've been having this issue for the longest now. Every time I transfer/copy data or gaming content to the 8GB XBox 360 Scan Disk and go to a friend's house to use it the memory is corrupted. I know licenses usually are for games, not content in which I can share. I have to format it almost every time. Do I have a corrupted disk? I know Scan Disk stays "on" for a few mins. Do I have to wait until the xbox 360 is shut down for a long time until I remove the USB Drive? What Am I doing wrong?
