  • Looks amazing, the sound is horrible and annoying.

  • Someone should draw out the whole game using Flipnote. I think it's possible.

  • Mother of God...!

  • Sounds almost exactly like an Atari 2600 game. How odd.

  • Good game, HORRIBLE GRAPHICS AND SOUND

  • @TheROBReviews >horrible graphics

what are you expecting for a gameboy color game? Full-motion video? 3d view? fuck off. This is pretty much the best graphics on a gbc (compared to the original Dragon's lair)

  • @TheROBReviews come on it's gameboy you can't expect it to be as good as a psp or ds it's game boy the graphics and sound are appropriate for gameboy

  • Thats really impressive for a gbc game

  • holy crap!! this imitates the atari jaguar almost perfectly!

  • How did I miss this one?

  • nes vs gbc gbc wins

  • Proves it could have been done on the NES if at such square on the screen that matches the resolution and size of the GBC screen. Lightly smaller like the SNES Doom screen take up.

  • this got an single amont of luck into him?

  • Wow, I was expecting to see something crappy like the NES or SNES ports, but this is pretty damned arcade-accurate! What an impressive graphics engine!

  • to think they couldn't put a laserdisc game onto 8-bit style (I'm talking to you, NES version)

  • For being on the Game Boy Color, this is actually a very impressive port. While not all the scenes are intact, and the sound is obviously lame, the animation is actually quite impressive.

  • @JasonPaul601 You can give the GBC a little slack, I mean it's a Game Boy for one, and two they probably focused all the memory into the graphics and animation, so the sound should naturally be a little off. It's only 4MB I think.

  • wow, that looks confusing.

  • Absolutely beautiful game. Lousy sound though. Looks like the difficulty is intact, despite the shorter length

  • I had this. it was great!

  • wow imagine if this was on gba or ds!

  • These graphics are amazing!

  • very good conversion considering the platform it was done on.

  • This is actualy preaty good for the GBC.

  • Best animation on GBC?

  • Here's why this is waaaay better than the NES/SNES versions. Capcom did this one, and Capcom always treats licenses with respect and makes awesome games out out of them.

  • Wow how did you play through this???

  • That's amazing!

  • i'm gettin' blu-ray

  • and they couldn't release this on the NES or SNES? WTF!

  • This was made during N64

  • being released for NES.

    But it fails. changed Gameplay.

    ahh...

  • Yeah, but I meant that they should have released the ORIGINAL arcade version for the NES and SNES, not the rubbish games they made, althought the SNES version had potential.

  • Well, NES could only handle 512kb at max while GBC games are around 1 to 2mb at size.

GBC version of dragon's lair is about 2.5mb so that'd mean 5 NES cartridges. With famicom disk system this could have possibly been possible tho.

  • decent graphics, crap sound, wow, thanks for the upload, but no thanks to the game...

  • This is the best looking GBC game I have ever seen it even outclasses Toki Tori and Toki Tori looked really good.

  • there's an article of how the managed to squeeze everything into a cartridge. I just saw the longplay for the first time and now I realize it's actually the same in twice the length (most scenes play twice, a few cutscenes removed).

  • wait the gbc did this and super nintendo was bulcrap why did they do that?!

  • It's called learning from mistakes.

  • I wish I still had this port. I tried to play it on my Gameboy color which wasn't backlit and it was near impossible to see it.

  • eclips dit a incredible job of pulling all powers from the gbc,to make this port close to the original.

the graphics are awesome, and despites most of the sounds are weird,i,ve discovered in part 2that they surprisingly make use of the dpcm channel proving the gbc could do more than unly bleep sound, allowing for great voice acting!!!!!!!!!!

  • thge graphics are enormouse concidering the gbc limmitations.

alltrough you could see that the resolution and the amount of colors is much lower and it also runs slower but it,s still amezing .

but the music sound is like piece of shit, they could,ve use the rare dpcm soundchannel for better sound!!!!!

  • how come this system has good graphics but shit sound

  • I remember seeing this on our local game store's shelf and thinking "NO WAY"

I bought it in an instant and was so surprised at how awesome it was.

Sure it wasn't as high resolution as the original but...playing this during class...people were amazed.

God I need to play it again O_O

  • It's really amazing how they squeezed the Interactive version onto an 8 bit GBC despite this version probably being a POS

  • original is 8 bit not gbc its 16 bit

  • Wow they would have had to some how re-size and than touch it up and re-draw to make it look this good!!

Imagine if they released this for the Nintendo DS or PSP.

  • i don't think this pretty hard game can remake agaon and again, new gamers may not interesting is this one.

  • @fantasynoff i am and im 12 and i want this so HA (i think...wait what!)

  • @fantasynoff I have come from the future with good news.

  • @AnalogX64

They released Dragon's Lair on DsiWare. Check it out.

  • @AnalogX64 they just released the arcade version for the ds...

  • @AnalogX64 rumors say that dragon's lair will be on the psp.not sure about ds

  • @AnalogX64 Your wish is granted, the DSi has a port of this, as well as the iPod Touch/iPad.

  • Impressive! They managed to cram the entire coin-op into a 2meg Gameboy cartridge. There's a few pieces missing (like the top of the stairs in the Giddy Goon room; you have to kill 2 more Giddy's before leaving) but that is moot considering the feat pulled off here.

  • Soo realistic for GBC~

  • Damn how big was this cartridge? It's actually more impressive than the dos version!

  • just like other gbc roms,it's too small.

  • @fantasynoff where did you get the game anyway

  • @fantasynoff Not quite small. 2MB or 4MB. I don't remember well.

  • From what I read it's a little over 2mb. I'm surprised they were able to cram so much in there towards the end of GBC's live span.

  • wow holy shit game but is nice because is classic game old :D

  • This looks pretty good for GBC.

  • Amazing. I wonder why the NES version of Dragon's Lair wasn't like this. Processor speed?

  • Nah,snes version still don't like original arcade version,I think they just not want to remake, not machine can't support.

  • Right. Possibley tryiing to appeal to Platformer gamers. It is weird that DS is getting a port of the Original

  • even this game special, but it's too hard to play...just 1 wrong can make character die

  • I design games like this, but there are more than one right answer. I work entirely experimentively, but I always felt that what held Dragon's lair back was that it was too linear. Think about it, shouldn't there be 4 right answers and 1 wrong answer to every move made usually? I realise budgets were tight but I see that too many people try to immitate and replicate instead of innovate. you ought to check out my games.

  • @fantasynoff alot of trial and error taught me the moves and now I can beat singe(and the rest of the game) in 1 life! its the best non-identical port there is!

  • @stringanime I think the NES processor ran at a speed of 1.78MHz, in contrast to the Game Boy Color's 8.38MHz processing speed. So it's basically 4x faster than an NES.

  • They are making a DS version. Just Google it.

  • thank you

  • Interesting job they did converting the original laserdisk version to the GBC format. Would like to see this game be remade for the Nintendo DS.

  • there's a remake for Wii already~

  • Wait, what?!

  • I WANT ROM

  • see video info.remember that is "download/3313314-a54"

  • okay

  • I can't belive a arcade classic can be ported to the GBC!

  • hoho~

  • Those sounds are so Atari-like!

  • gbc isn't powerfully...if this game remake on gba will much better than this one

  • I downloaded this game thinking it would be as bad as nes or snes versions. But i was wrong.

  • gbc version is remaked from arcade version.and I think arcade version is the best one of this series~
