oh by the way i am a cnc machinist. i make parts for caterpillar detroit cummins and a really nifty company called danfoss. look up turbocor. really cool. i make that too. everything we make is out of aluminum 356.1 alloy. one of the reasons some of the parts you recieved from conley could have been rejected may be due to iron oxide in his aluminum. it ruins castings and tends to break tools when they hit it. anyway. good job.
I am sure that you are quite tired of hearing this but a current progress video as it stands like a 22B-1 would be GREATLY appreciated by countless viewers.

You are the man love the truck wouldn't be the same without the 609 I'm sure everyone was so glad u didn't go with the 2 stroke. How long do you think till you post another vid??
I've sent my 609 back to Mr Conley to be fitted with new improved Carbs that will address the stalling issue. I should have it back in a week or so, then will align the throttle linkage using a second servo under the floor, then fabricate the final engine mounts. So, a video with significant progress may be a while. I might do a 22C with where I'm at now, I don't know. I'm happy to say I cut my lawn for the last time this season.

Hi from Kamloops BC, been following you for a while. My father and I are both builders - he's old school balsa and such. If I want to build a plane I may use balsa - that's an art.
It's fascinating what you've built here. That's a newer art. I could never put a dark moment on anything you've been seen doing. Fan - friggen-tastic

@rcWizzard It depends with auto darkening helmets,i havent had much trouble, but be careful if your welding outside with Mig,The wind will blow away your shielding gas and it will affect your welds (Spatter,Porosity,Weaker.Etc..)
Instead of cobbling up a throttle linkage setup, why don't you just add another throttle servo? You could use a y harness to wire up the servo and hide the servo in the seat.

Great craftsmanship man! Good thing your using stainless and aluminum, cause at the rate your building it, other metals would have decayed and blended back to the earth. lol ;) Sorry, I just could not resist. It's just i have been following this for so long, I feel like I can guage the progress by which president is in office. Damn! I did it again! I promise, no more time jokes. Keep those videos coming! Cause at this rate, your camera batteries should last 20 years. Damn! Did it again...
Do you mean the traditional intake Scoop with 3 holes and butterfly control that a Supercharger has?? No, BUT, Mr Conley is working on that very item.
I love your video's. Thank you so much for the good info and all the details. I am so happy when a new video comes out. Its a real plessure to see the truck come together. Keep it up from Belgium!!
Progress always takes longer than you expect. I did some practice welding, then added the additional tubes to the chassis. Again, ugly but strong.
My engine builder developed improved Carbs that eliminate the stalling issue while running the engine. So I sent my engine back to him to be fitted and test run with the new carbs. Can't wait to get it back. So,,,, Stay Tuned!!!
I"m in the US, where are you located? my Friend?
As @skinpounder666 said... Always prep your material before you weld. Even if u just use a little light sand paper to get off grime and rust. I always hit my parent metal with a flap disc before I lay a bead.
Sweet truck tho!! Can't wait for the next video! Iv never seen a scaled down v8
please please finish this, i have been checking it out off and on for over a year now. it is a lovely piece of art and engineering. when you are done if you ever wanted to (doubt you would) i would bet that you could sell it for 10-15 grand easy, possibly more. it is simply astonishing.
Pretty kool project but why didn't you use a tig welder?, those bubble gum welds look terrible and really drop the quality of the truck. I would have used a silver brazing alloy and then the welds would have been very clean and realistic.
Great build! I've commented before, and been an avid watcher as of about a year ago. I just would like to bring up an idea I saw in the comments, that I thought would be awesome. You should make little weekly update videos or something. :) That way, we don't have to wait so long. Just a suggestion. Anyway, waiting intently on the next installment. Good luck man!
Not welding on, sorry I meant to put when welding do you use some sort of fireproof material or a fire blanket works the best. We use them at our shop when were welding
As a welder to a welder and a R/c addict to another R/c addict. I have a question do you make sure to seal off the rest of the truck your not welding on with some sort of fireproof material ? If not I recommend to because it will cut down on any welding sparks from landing on any of your truck parts causing spatter which will save you grinding. Also if you don't I recommend using Welding Primer or Metal primer to fight the rust on your welds or exposed sheet metal such as steel. I hope this hel
I love this build, ignore all the people saying you need to hurry up. You are an awesome person and I can only wish to have as much talent as you one day!
lol.. I cant decide which is more entertaining.. watching this magnificent machine come together, or the complaints of those not patient enough to just sit and wait..
We all want to see this thing finished!!! you lot whining wont change anything.. but it'll make me laugh some more..
Instead of you folks WASTING!! your time while he STRINGS you all along MAKING MONEY OFF YOUR CLICKS!! Copy and Paste THIS!>>>Conley Factory Tour Model V8 Working 1/4 Scale Engine - WAAAYY! more Entertaining!!!
Been doing more practice at welding. Have the pieces in place and welded, still ugly though. Now need to grind some and clean up the chassis, have surface rust on it.
Then work on the throttle linkage, or go with a second servo.
I did some practice welding before adding a few more pieces to the chassis. Also ordered a Copper ground clamp, had to wait for that. Now working on hooking up the throttle to the servo, looks like an additional servo is the best way. I also plan to make permanent engine mounts by the next video. Should have those materials by Tuesday.
hey just wondering if you are any closer to getting this thing figured out. this is prob the sickest build series i have seen to date any where on the net. you take us through all the ups and downs you are having. cant wait to see this thing when it is able to move like you want it to.
u should do a video of all of the rc trucks u have that would be sweet haha and the truck is coming a long reall cool:)

I'm talking about a cowl on top of the carbs instead of the filter thing.

Do you mean the traditional intake Scoop with 3 holes and butterfly control that a Supercharger has?? No, BUT, Mr Conley is working on that very item.

Are the new carbs going to have a blower on top?
TheFolsomprizon 2 months ago

The carbs are on top of the Blower, as shown in the video.

I"m in the US, where are you located? my Friend?
rcWizzard 2 months ago
As @skinpounder666 said... Always prep your material before you weld. Even if u just use a little light sand paper to get off grime and rust. I always hit my parent metal with a flap disc before I lay a bead.
Sweet truck tho!! Can't wait for the next video! Iv never seen a scaled down v8
deucedeuce22bmx 2 months ago
To - @deucedeuce22bmx
I use a SS wire brush, then spray it down with "PRE" from the Eastwood Co.
What's a "flap disc" ?
Thanks.

please please finish this, i have been checking it out off and on for over a year now. it is a lovely piece of art and engineering. when you are done if you ever wanted to (doubt you would) i would bet that you could sell it for 10-15 grand easy, possibly more. it is simply astonishing.

guidois14 3 months ago

We use them at our shop when were welding
skinpounder666 3 months ago
To - @skinpounder666
I should.
Thanks.
rcWizzard 3 months ago
As a welder to a welder and a R/c addict to another R/c addict. I have a question do you make sure to seal off the rest of the truck your not welding on with some sort of fireproof material ? If not I recommend to because it will cut down on any welding sparks from landing on any of your truck parts causing spatter which will save you grinding. Also if you don't I recommend using Welding Primer or Metal primer to fight the rust on your welds or exposed sheet metal such as steel. I hope this hel

I love this build, ignore all the people saying you need to hurry up. You are an awesome person and I can only wish to have as much talent as you one day!

some news here ? :)

To - @MrMarcioooo
Been doing more practice at welding. Have the pieces in place and welded, still ugly though. Now need to grind some and clean up the chassis, have surface rust on it.
Then work on the throttle linkage, or go with a second servo.
:-)
rcWizzard 3 months ago
@rcWizzard how is the truck going sorry i dont read all the comments to get my answers lol so give me some good news
018e4 3 months ago
To - @018e4
I did some practice welding before adding a few more pieces to the chassis. Also ordered a Copper ground clamp, had to wait for that. Now working on hooking up the throttle to the servo, looks like an additional servo is the best way. I also plan to make permanent engine mounts by the next video. Should have those materials by Tuesday.
