The f bombs are not necessary. I understand your position. People have very strong feelings on the subject. However, you are incorrect in suggesting that the fish was a Longfin. It is most definitely a shortfin as was confirmed by the fish & game authorities. Thank you.
It's far more manly to speak the truth and more dangerous and adventurous to swim with sharks instead of killing them in ignorance. That's not an insult I'm just telling you it's long past time to change your view and knowlege of the oceans. We could save them but the ignorance and false ideas about sharks and every thing else is kiling us. Let's get smart grow up and make your heroes the oceanographers instead of the pillagers of wild stocks that are disa pearing fast.
Sharks of nearly every species are regularly taken for thier fins alone. If we mange to kill off the sharks; and we are eighty percent of the way there. The oceans are going to experience species crashes like you can't imagine. like mountain lions move hurds of mule deer across the landscape preventing over browsing and starvation as well as thinning the weak and sick.Sharks have been shown to fill a similar niche. Sea lions, seals, otters, and others are naturally balanced by sharks.
The world has ignored the fisheries and damage to the ocean way to long and it's going to bite us all in the ass soon. I watched as the New England fisheries have been distroyed. $40 years ago I coud catch enough fish in an afternoon to eat for a week for a family or longer. Millions of mackrel, pollock, wolf eals, Herring, Cod up to 15lbs Haddock, and lot's more. Now you can fish all day and your lucky if you get a guppy. There's lots of blues but the others are virtually gone in shore. STOP!
@geezerdombroadcast You are right on. Unfortunately the oceans are dying because too many fish have been taken. Marine ecosystems simply can't handle this kind of fishing pressure. Sharks are especially vulnerable to overfishing as they have a very slow reproductive rate.
I hate to bust your chops dudes but you guys have to be the most incompetent fishermen that I have ever seen. I used to want to be Earnest Hemingway like a lot of others kids of the 40s and 50s. By the late 70s there was enough evidence to convince me sharks are to precious to be killing for sport even food unless it's survival. Sharks are in real big trouble that means we who love fish and sharks and all the other beauties of the ocean are in trouble. Take up scooba, snorkeling, birding,

If you are asking whether they used a gun to subdue the fish the answer is no. They boated it using a flying gaff and a lot of manpower.

I'm hoping you shot it off camera, not sure how else you'd get a fish that "docile" through that transom door.
