  • guys i wana get into animation n i dont know a thing bout anything (fck i cant even draw) but i wanna start with learnin softwares. which do you recmnd Maya or Adobe AE

  • @RVBeEtZ well, if you want to start learning 3D animation, then you might wanna take a course on it, cause it's probably a tricky thing to throw yourself into. If you want to start say 2D animation, I'd recommend Adobe Flash or even Pivot!! Haha that's what I started on, then I got into this kind of stuff and learned FXHome software. After Effects is a composting program and Maya is an industry standard 3D application used for lots of things. So I would say start small and work big ;)

  • sick man! what song what this btw?

  • hey could you do some titles for my film?

  • nice work

  • Nice work on this!

The M turns black at one point, and I'd work on the bump of the base a bit more, but overall this is a really good piece!

  • Well the M turns black due to the reflection on the arm coming down infront of it. But you're very right that needs to be changed. What where your thoguhts about the bump mapping? I dont really mind how it is now.

  • hmmm, maya looks like an easy program. Is it hard? I'm 14 btw.

  • haha. It is the hardest program you will ever use. It also has the steepest learning curve in the industry. The breakdown I created does NOT represent real time workflow in Maya. It is simply a demonstration of materials/textures, geometry, and animation.

  • It's not the easiest program in the world, but I would definitely suggest at least looking at it, and watching some videos on how to use it if you are interested.

I started learning how to use maya my first year of Jr High, I'm now a Junior and I still learn a ton every time I do a project.

  • @daantjede12e ya im going to have to agree with it being one of the hardiest programs, im currently learning how to use it and we have spent 5 months on it and we have barely touched the tip of the iceberg

  • absolutely awesome :-O

  • this looks really nice in hd! this is amazing work!

Final cut for the Black text @ end?

  • Photoshop for texturing and materials.

  • Fantastic Matthew! I am cracking up at the comments. I know you and I know the amazing talent you are in everything you do. You figure all this stuff out on your own without any class or anyone teaching you. YOU ROCK!

  • Great Job, buddy.

  • Hey,

Are you using a mac for all of this?

I want to know because i am on a mac and want to try the 3D motion tracking

  • Ummm this video requires no motion tracking. It's entirely CG. And yes, I use a Mac for everything :D

  • no i meant for your video that is #D motion tracking,

i dont know why the comment showed up on this video...

  • Can you make a tutorial?

  • Ummm probrably not. It was a really big project. But you can just guess on how I made it. I didn't even have to do any rigging. Just simple modeling and animating :) Sorry though :(

  • sweet, matthew!

  • Where do you live?? Do you live in Europe. Thats just a guess.

  • Hey Velvet!

    Baerra from videocopilot here.

As I said before, awesome job :)

  • Thanks man, Maya's very very tough, but once you get your head around it you can do anything you want. :)

  • Very, I think it around $6,000. But if your a student you can get it much much cheaper. Around $200. Hope that helps. :)

  • Thanks :)
